Chapter Text
Today hadn't been a particularly great day. His childhood friend turned tormentor, Bakugo Katsuki, had told him to pray to god for a quirk and kill himself. Which had soured his mood entirely, he passed by the Koi pond and saw his Hero Analysis #13 notebook laying in the water. He grabbed it and grumbled a few angry curses under his breath. He was the slightest bit thankful that it wasn't too damaged and that he could still read the kanjis written inside of it, meaning he could copy over what he wrote into a different notebook. He put it into a plastic bag so it wouldn't get any of his stuff wet while he went home.
A while later, he had been thinking about what his tormentor had said, knowing that by the light gleam of regret in Katsuki's eyes that he hadn't meant it entirely, but that hadn't meant that it didn't hurt him to have been told that by the one person he's idolised the most other than All Might. While he was stuck in his mind, trying to think about what he should do with his hero dream, he hadn't noticed or heard, that the manhole cover had moved.
"Well thank my lucky stars! A fresh meatsuit to hide in!"
Izuku heard the voice but before he could even move the giant body of sludge had him in it's gross clutches, forcing itself into his nose and mouth. He couldn't breathe, all he could think about was the fact he might die here. The words, "I don't wanna die" repeated in his head over and over and over again. Just before he lost consciousness, he saw a figure jump out of the manhole.
"NEVER FEAR...WHY? BECAUSE I AM HERE!!"
"DAMNIT! GET AWAY FROM ME!"
The person made of sludge tried to run away from All Might, but was too slow. All Might punched forwards and the air blew the sludge to pieces, having set Izuku free. The last thought he had before losing consciousness was, "All...Might?"

Izuku began to wake up, feeling something lightly slapping his face. When he finally opened his eyes, he saw All Might standing in front of him.
"Ah, good, you're alive young man. You should go see a doctor, I'm not sure if you're harmed, but the villain might still have done some damage internally!"
Izuku rubbed his eyes, not sure if he was seeing correctly.
"All...Might? Wait...ALL MIGHT!?"
Izuku jumped up and started to fanboy.
"OHMYGODALLMIGHTSAVEDMEANDHELOOKSEVENCOOLERINPERSONIMIGHTFAINTRIGHTONTHESPOT!!"
All Might sweatdropped at Izuku and put a hand on Izuku's shoulder.
"Young man, you need to calm down. I understand your excitement, but you were just attacked by a villain. Are you feeling alright? Anything clogged or sloshy?"
Izuku pauses, remembering the fact he indeed was just attacked and nearly killed.
"Oh, u-uh, sorry. I think I'm alright? I can still taste the sludge in my mouth, but I don't think I feel anything."
All Might lets out a relieved sigh after hearing that.
"Alright, I need to take this guy to the station. Young man, I want you to make sure you get yourself checked out in case you were actually harmed."
All Might turns to jump away.
"W-Wait!"
"My apologies young man, but I must be going!"
All Might jumps away, but feels something, or rather, someone, latched onto his leg.
"YOUNG MAN!? YOU SHOULDN'T BE HOLDING ONTO ME!! IT'S DANGEROUS!"
Izuku could barely speak because of the wind pressure hitting his face.
"I...neeeeed...tooo...ahhhk...yhhhooou...shhhhomethhhhhing!"
Eventually, All Might lands on the roof of a building.
"My whole life just flashed before my eyes..."
Izuku whispered to himself before turning to All Might.
"Young man! That was reckless and dangerous! You shouldn't have even thought of doing that!"
All Might said, scolding Izuku for grabbing onto him before jumping into the air.
"B-But, I needed to ask you something! Something important..."
Izuku cried out, tears pricking on the edges of his eyes. All Might sees this and feels slight worry for the boy, wondering whats so important he'd risk his life just to ask him.
"All right, all right. There's no need to cry, young man. What is it you want to ask?"
Izuku looks up to All Might nervously.
"C-Can someone without a quirk...without any powers...become a hero?"
All Might pauses, staring at Izuku in surprise. Before he can answer, a bunch of smoke comes out from his body as he deflates down to Small Might. Or more known as Toshinori Yagi.
"W-What the? All Might?"
When the smoke clears all Izuku sees is a man who looks like literal skin and bones with how thin he is.
"What! Who are you? Where's All Might?! Are you an Impostor?!"
Yagi sighs before walking over to Izuku and patting his shoulder.
"I am indeed the man you know as All Might, young man. I was injured ten years ago in a large battle."
Izuku looks at Yagi, shocked.
"Wait, you mean the fight against Toxic Chainsaw?"
Yagi looks slightly surprised before lightly chuckling.
"I'm surprised you know of that fight, barely anyone remembers that. But no, it was someone far more dangerous. I had to cover it up from the media entirely."
Yagi lifts up his shirt, showing his large wound. It looks like it's fresh even though it's from years ago. Izuku gasps and covers his mouth in surprise, looking completely shocked.
"Oh lord. H-How are you still doing hero work with a wound like that!?"
Yagi sighs.
"I have to, young man. If the world learns the Symbol of Peace got hurt this badly, they'll begin to worry. I plan on retiring within a few years, but I can't for now. Japan still needs their Number One Hero."
Izuku stares at Yagi.
"A-All Might..."
Yagi sighs once again.
"And to answer your question, young man...are you sure you want to go into Heroism without a quirk? Even after I've shown you my wound?"
Izuku had tears prick his eyes but wipes them away and nods, determined.
"Y-Yes! I want to be a hero to make sure people like you never have to get that hurt again!"
Yagi nods and stares at Izuku, seeing the resemblance between Izuku and his former mentor.
"...Then I believe you can be a hero, young man. And I deem you worthy of inheriting my power."
Izuku starts to cry but freezes after hearing Yagi.
"Your power? W-Wait...what do you mean?"
Yagi freezes for a moment before sighing, realizing he should explain.
"Sorry young man, I got ahead of myself. You are familiar with my power, correct?"
Izuku raises a hand before tilting it up and down slightly, like a seesaw on a playground. Showing he's unsure.
"Many people theorize on what your quirk is, since it's a nationally guarded secret, but I believe it's a form of power boosting."
Yagi raises an eyebrow at that.
"Care to explain more?"
Izuku nods.
"Yes. After seeing how you fight so many times, I came to a realization that you most likely weren't always this powerful, especially before your debut in America, starting off your hero career before eventually coming back to Japan. So I began to theorize like many others have. But I thought better, I analyzed your fights. I began to notice how you have to come up with complex kinetic equations on the go so you know how strong to hit to use wind pressure as an attack. So I began to think that your quirk allows you to scale how much you use, letting you change the strength of your attacks."
Yagi looks at Izuku, utterly and completely shocked at how he figured that out.
"Well, young man, you're not entirely incorrect there. My quirk is called One For All. It is a quirk that has been passed down for hundreds of years. It has originated from the start of the quirk-era. And its power can be scaled, just like you said."
Izuku looks shocked.
"A quirk that can be passed down? But that shouldn't be possible? Well, not in this age. Usually quirks back then were wild. But if it originated from then...then that means this quirk...is over 200 years old!?!"
Yagi nods while Izuku looks shocked.
"Yes. And I believe you are worthy of it. Now, I must warn you of something before you get excited, you need to work out more. I can tell that you have a light amount of muscle, but it is not enough for my quirk. If you aren't physically ready, you might blow your limbs off."
Izuku looks scared at that thought but sighs.
"Okay, should we get down from here at least, and take the sludge...guy? To the station?"
Izuku says while Yagi nods, patting his pocket before freezing.
"...He's not there."
Izuku freezes as well.
"What do you mean he's not there?"
Yagi looks down at his pocket and sees a hole. These damn pants he loved so much.
"I mean he's not there-"
Before Yagi could finish, an explosion went off in the distance. Izuku could recognize the type of explosion from anywhere, given how much he had been beaten with them. They were Kacchans.
"All Might...we need to go and stop the villain."
Yagi nods in agreement, his movement sharp and slow.
"Yes. That we do."
Both Yagi and Izuku begin to run down the building, managing to get out without much trouble and run to the location of the explosion. Both Izuku and Yagi squeeze through the crowd to see that the heroes aren't doing anything. But Izuku sees Kacchan. He sees him being choked with the sludge like he was. He remembers the regret he saw in his eyes after suicide baiting him. He sees Kacchans face. And before he can even register whats happening he's suddenly running towards the sludge person who's holding Bakugo.
"LET HIM GO YOU SEWAGE FREAK!"
Izuku yelled out, throwing his backpack at the villain. His bag opens up midair and a sharp pencil stabs the villain in the eye.
"OW, DAMNIT THAT'S MY GOOD EYE! YOU LITTLE SHIT!"
Izuku began to claw the sludge away as the villain lost grip on Bakugo's mouth, letting him breathe.
"What are you doing here!?"
Izuku keeps clawing away the sludge as fast as he can. He looks at Bakugo.
"I know you hate me...I know you don't wanna be friends with me anymore...BUT I COULDN'T JUST LET YOU DIE, DAMNIT!"
Izuku said as tears fall down his face from the fear he feels. He remembers how it felt to be suffocated by this bastard holding Bakugo captive. He remembers how terrifying it felt to think he was gonna die.
"Kacchan, try to aim your explosions down! If you can knock him down you might be able to gain more traction and I can help you get free!"
Bakugo looks angry at Izuku but decides against getting mad since they both might die here. He does as Izuku says and the sludge villain loses traction on the ground and falls, letting Bakugo get a hand free and allowing Izuku to pull Bakugo out and get him to safety.
"Will one of you damn heroes get the villain before he kills us while we escape?!"
Izuku yelled out to the heroes on the scene, making them gain focus and hold the villain back while Izuku drags Bakugo to safety. Yagi watched the scene in shock, realizing he had picked the perfect successor for One For All.

|Katsuki POV|
Eventually, the villain is apprehended and taken off in a police car. The heroes began to berate Deku for his recklessness while he was getting praised. But Deku didn't listen to them, all he was doing was staring at him like the creep he was. Deku then began to walk up to him, all he could do was stare at Deku while he was still being checked on by the paremedics. Deku was ignoring the shouts of the heroes who were berating him.
"K-Kacchan...I-...Are you okay?"
Bakugo looks up at Deku, the anger inside of him bubbling up as he remembers the day it began. The day that Deku started to look down on him. The day he fell off that damned log.
"Listen...I know you don't like me anymore...but back there...I meant it. I can't let you die...do you know how much your parents would mourn if you died, Kacchan? Do you know how much I would mourn if you died? I-I cant bring myself to hate you. Even after everything you've done to me. All I could think about when I saw you being held by that villain was how I felt when he attacked me."
Bakugo froze after hearing that. Deku was attacked by that sludge fucker too? How was he still alive then?
"I understand if you want to yell at me. Insult me. Beat me. But I don't care Kacchan. If it was your life over mine, I'd die if it meant you'd live and became the hero you want- no. The hero you deserve to be."
Bakugo could do nothing but listen to what Deku kept saying. The last sentence repeating in his head over and over, again and again.
"...Deku. Do...you wanna come over to see the old hag this weekend?"
Is all he could say. Finally having the realization that no matter what he'd do, Deku would care about him more than he does himself. Deku was silent before he started to cry. Bakugo scoffed, damn crybaby...but the slightest smile formed on his face. Maybe being friends with Deku again wouldn't be too bad. He just needs to make sure the old hag can keep herself from suffocating him with her tits after she sees him again. She's damn strong for an old hag.
