Work Text:
At his first Pesach, so many years ago, when it came time to find the Afikoman, Dick had decided that Bruce would have to find him, too. Ever since then, Tzafun had turned into a game of hide and seek.
Whoever won the game the previous year got to hide the Afikoman, and got to pick the cover it was kept in. Usually that meant one of the many covers Tim had made growing up, because it always made him get embarrassed. Dick also had several he’d made when he was small, but unlike Tim, he was unashamed of his art.
(Actually, he was pretty embarrassed by all the art he’d made when he was small. He’d just learned to hide it. He’d learned shortly after Jason came home to never show shame, because siblings love nothing more than embarrassing each other, and if they find a weak spot they will take advantage.)
Cass, of course, was one of the best when it came to hiding, but the others had their advantages. Dick was nearly as stealthy as she was, considering how many years he’d spent running around in a bright yellow cape, and he’d spent as many years at the manor finding all its little hidey holes. Damian was still small enough to fit in spots most of the others no longer could, and Duke could literally turn himself invisible.
That was actually how Duke had won last year- he turned invisible, then stayed in his seat in the dining room.
They’d found some interesting hiding spots over the years. The vents, under the floorboards or in the ceiling, buried in piles of blankets, in secret rooms, in not-so-secret rooms, inside the coffee table or the kitchen cabinets. One year, Cass had won by following Bruce around while he searched and staying out of his line of sight.
This year, Duke hid the Afikoman in one of Damian’s cat towers. Tim ended up falling asleep on the top shelf of Damian’s closet and winning the game.
