For some reason, Tzafun had been turned into a massive game of hide and seek.
The rules were: everyone had five minutes to hide. Mumbo had been chosen as the first seeker; if he found someone while looking for the Afikomen, that someone became the seeker while Mumbo got to hide. The game went on and on and on, until someone found the Afikomen or convinced Joel and Pearl, who’d first stolen it from Lizzie, to give up the location.
The two of them were still in Lizzie’s house, making perfectly round mounds out of potatoes.
Players hid in the Secret Keeper’s hood and in Mumbo’s chimney and in Bigb’s backrooms, and even in the actual perfectly round mound.
Mumbo found Martyn first, who then found Jimmy, who found Grian, who turned hide and seek into hide and seek tag. Grian found Cleo, who found Scar, who found Bdubs, who found Etho, who found Mumbo. Mumbo found Grian again, who found Scar.
Pearl and Joel did a second round of Dianu, then they did a third. And a fourth.
Scar found Jimmy, who found Tango, who found Bdubs and tackled him to the ground rather than simply tagging him. Bdubs found Cleo, who found Bigb, who found Skizz, who found Impulse, who found Gem. Gem found Scott, Scott found Jimmy, and Jimmy tried to beg Pearl and Joel for the location then tripped over Etho while leaving the house. Etho found Lizzie, who found Bigb.
Joel and Pearl used the extra matzah, marror, and charoset to make many-layered korach sandwiches.
Bigb found Grian, who ran into Impulse, who found Bdubs. Bdubs found Gem, Gem found Etho, and Etho found Tango who found Skizz. Skizz found Jimmy, who found Martyn, who found Lizzie.
Pearl and Joel had built themselves a blanket fort with Lizzie’s bedding.
Lizzie found Cleo, who found Impulse, who found Tango, who found Bdubs, who tackled Tango as revenge. Bdubs finally found the Afikomen, on Lizzie’s roof.
Joel and Pearl were sound asleep when everyone came back inside. The Afikomen tasted even better for all that it took to find it.
