    Summary

“When you rule out the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.” Sherlock had said this to his friend once in a moment of panic- an emotion he was vastly unfamiliar with at the time. Of course, John rebutted his statement with a jab, and in perhaps his most regretted moment, he shot back. He told his only friend that he didn’t have friends. What was he supposed to say to that? He took it back in the morning, when better heads prevailed. John, of course, accepted his non-apology apology. Now, he finds himself milling the statement in his head again. Over, and over, and over, and over. He presses his palms into his eyes as he tries desperately to cling to some explanation, something to reason away what he saw in that institute. But he can’t. What happens when you rule out the possible? What happens when all that remains just cannot be? What happens when the monsters are real?
