Chapter Text
song: i'll like you (ILLIT)
Soomin made her way to the front gates of her new school, streams of students already passing her.
'Its just going to be another day of school, new school or not, nothing special', she thought to herself.
It had only been 30 minutes since she had left the house but she already felt like all her energy had been drained.
'I want to go home and just rest on my bed.' 'Honestly?' 'I'd just go back, go to my room, lie on my warm and soft bed, maybe even have a bowl of......'
A loud engine suddenly interrupted Soomin's lovely thoughts.
Students who were on the open road of the school suddenly ran, shouting at eachother to move. Their faces had confused, shocked and bewildered expressions as they scattered towards the pavement, some people shouting at others to get off the road.
Soomin spun around just in time to see a motorcycle racing at top speed towards the gate.
'What's their problem? Taking up the whole road like that.
Wait wha... AHHHH!'
She suddenly felt something hit her shoulder, causing her to skid back slightly, bag and books falling out, onto the floor.
Soomin looked up to see the motorcyclist quickly getting off their bike.
"That hurt a lot!" Soomin lowered her voice as students started to stare. "Were you even watching where you were going?"
Soomin was about to bend down to pick up her bag when the motorcyclist bent down, picking up the books for her. They reached for her bag, placing them back inside.
After they were done, they stood up to face Soomin as they handed back her bag.
"Sorry about that, I'll definitely make sure to be more careful next time!" a slight, low voice spoke behind the mask. "You're not hurt or anything right?"
"No, I'm fine now." Soomin crossed her arms. "You better make sure you don't do that to anyone again!" "Also, do you really have to ride that thing to school?" "Is that even allowed?"
"I'll be careful!" "I always ride my bike to school, no one can stop me." "If they tried they would have to catch me first!"
The motorcyclist had already clambered back on, meters ahead as they drove off.
Soomin faced forward just as she had gotten her bag back on her back.
"Hey, Hey!" she called out to the motorcyclist. "I've not finished talking to you!"
But it was already too late as by now they were miles ahead.
I didn't even get to ask for their name....' Soomin thought as she continued to walk closer to the school gates. "I wonder what they look like behind that mask...
She watched as the students walking around her whispered to eachother, glancing her way.
'Hmmmm.' 'Maybe her or she is a popular student around here?' 'They seem to talk about them a lot.....'
'Well that was unexpected', she thought as she continued on her way.

The bell rang for the start of registration as Soomin walked into the classroom. The teacher looked up and gestured for her to stand in the front of the class.
"I'm Mr Park, your homeroom teacher." "Today we have a new student." "Now if you wouldn't mind please introduce yourself to the class."
Soomin looked up at the students in front of her and started to speak. "I'm Kim Soomin, I'm 17 years old and I'm from Daegu. I hope I can get along well with all of you."
After speaking she stood to one side next to Mr Park, waiting for him to tell her where to sit.
"Okay Soomin, please go and sit next to Jeong Hyerin, the spare seat on the left row."
Soomin nodded and walked towards her seat, but she couldn't help but listen to a few things her new classmates said as she passed them.
"The new girl gets to sit next Hyerin? she's so lucky." "I bet she doesn't even know who she is." Soomin heard a student behind her say.
"What do you mean she doesn't know, Hyerin is one of the most popular students here for her good looks and good grades!"
Soomin sighed as she sat in her seat.
------------------------------------------------
Time passed as Soomin sat in class for the first lesson, Maths. Since it was her least favourite subject, she didn't pay much attention. The teacher scribbled equations on the board. She tried to start a conversation with Hyerin, but failed as she didn't answer a single of her questions.
After a while Soomin stares blankly at the board, her head slightly tilted.
She turned to Hyerin, writing down notes in her book.
"X equals what now? Why does math sound like a foreign language today?"
She glanced to her left. Hyerin is focused, her pen gliding smoothly across her notebook. Soomin leans in slightly, whispering.
"How do you even get any of this? if I were you I would've given up in like seconds." she leaned back against her chair, dropping her pen onto the near empty maths book.
She heard a sigh next to her, a hand slid a notebook toward her, showing the steps.
"Oh, thank you!" without you I wouldn't have got anything done today. Soomin picked up her pen and began writing down the notes.
Hyerin watched as she did so, glancing at her before looking back at the board.
