Summary
On the countless Rimworlds, the comfort and security of a strong community is something few enjoy, and fewer still when the group is tribalistic in nature, where nomadic lifestyles and sustenance farming are barely enough to feed the many mouths.
Most of those with technology ignore tribals, treating them as little more than target practice and a minor nuisance, but a few tribal groups claim lands as their own, eat well and defend their own regions from any that threaten them. Some even go further, living alongside strange allies, adopting ways of life that support them, and in return, relying on their forces for mutual support.
The Black Chitin share a symbiotic relationship with their own allies, and worship their Queen as their own monarch. But their most sacred time has come, when the Queen should send new Queens to grow and spread. This time, two know these events will change everything, the Queen who knows she must perish, and the woman destined to stand at the side of the daughter who will take the throne in her place....
