Esteban finds out Ollie will be alone on his birthday during the Miami weekend. He mentions is passing that he is still moving in to his Monaco apartment and it’s all just been a little hectic. His parents have planned something but it’s not on his actual birthday.
Esteban immediately devices a plan. He flies to Monaco straight after Miami. He stays with Lance. On the morning of Ollie’s birthday, he sends him a happy birthday text and posts to his socials, then he goes out to do groceries. He showers and dresses nicely after.
Lance raised an eyebrow, “you’re doing this for your teammate?”. Esteban nods, “what? We’re literally in your teammate’s Monaco apartment right now”. Lance laughs, “yeah and he’s also not just my teammate”. Esteban rolls his eyes, “Ollie is a sweet and cute guy. It’s his birthday. He’s young and right now he’s alone. So, I am cooking him dinner”. Lance sends him a knowing look but Esteban ignores it. Instead he gathers his things and thanks Lance for letting him stayover.
Esteban knocks nervously on Ollie’s door. Ollie swings the door open, seeing his teammate takes him aback a little but it also instantly makes him smile. Esteban smiles back, “I did groceries and thought maybe I can cook you dinner? For your birthday? You said you’d be alone and well no one should be alone on their birthday”. Ollie smiles more and waives Esteban in taking some of his bags. “what are you planning?”, Ollie questions as he pulls Esteban’s suitcase into the apartment.
Esteban chuckles softly, “stayed with Lance and Nando, since I don’t live here”. Ollie nods, “so you’re staying here tonight?”. Esteban smiles softly, “I don’t mean to intrude, I can go back there too”. Ollie shakes his head, “no please stay. It’s a bit of a mess but my mum made sure we have every kind of kitchen utensil there is, not that I can cook well”. Esteban smiles, “lead the way, I became pretty decent over the years and otherwise I can always call my mum or order pizza”.
Ollie laughs and leads Esteban into the kitchen. Esteban smiles and starts unpacking the groceries. He tries to hide the dinner candles he bought but Ollie sees and blushes. Esteban clears his throat, “so uhm where can I find the pans?”. Ollie laughs, “you know as much as I do”. Esteban laughs with him, “guess we’ll find out”. He opens a few cupboards that feel logical and on his third guess he gets it right.
Esteban finds his way quickly around the unfamiliar kitchen and Ollie watches. They chat about trivial things. Conversation comes easy to them wherever they are. Esteban sets the table and lights the candles and serves dinner. Afterwards he pulls a small gift bag out of his backpack.
Ollie blushes, “Estie! You really didn’t have to. Dinner was a gift in itself”. Esteban smiles, “I wanted to. Presents are the best part about birthdays”. Ollie carefully opens the bag, then the small jewellery box. It’s a bracelet from the AMP Monaco gummy bear collection. Ollie grins, “you remembered”. Esteban nods, “you said you loved that collection, when you saw Charles wear it”. Ollie nods, “I love it so much”. Ollie stands up and holds out his arms waiting for a hug, “thank you”. Esteban stands and wraps his arms around Ollie’s waist, “you’re welcome”.
Ollie let’s his fingers interlock behind Esteban’s neck. They look into each other’s eye for a moment. Ollie takes a deep breath and looks at his feet, “I didn’t want to admit it, but being alone today kinda sucked, so thank you for showing up, even if I told literally everyone, you included I didn’t want need to celebrate it on the day”. Esteban gently picks up his chin, “hey, it’s okay. I know things have been stressful but I am here for you. Not just because we are teammates but because I care about you Ollie”. Ollie looks back into his eyes, “you’re not playing mindgames?”.
Esteban shakes his head, “I don’t do that. I promise”. Ollie nods, “I think I might be falling in love with you”. Esteban smiles brightly, “I know I am falling for you Ollie. I wouldn’t be here if I wasn’t”. Ollie chuckles and blushes, “can I ask for one more present?”. Esteban nods, “anything”. Ollie grins, “kiss me”. Esteban laughs softly, “oh I can do that”. Ollie grins and presses closer, “less talking more kissing”.
Esteban kisses him softly, “so demanding. We have all the time in the world”. Ollie giggles, “best birthday present ever”. Esteban laughs as Ollie drags him over to the sofa, “happy to help. I’d do anything for you”. Ollie smirks, “even let me win?”. Esteban raises his eyebrow, “I’d never let you win, but I’ll fight you honestly and with respect”. Ollie smirks, “that was a test, you passed, and now I want more kisses. He pushes Esteban onto the sofa and climbs into his lap, kissing him deeply. Esteban pulls him closer kissing back passionately.
