It was only after the waiter left again that Sirius spoke. “Seems he thinks I’m in charge,” he murmured lightly, signing the receipt with a frivolous, loopy script. “Seems most people do.”
“Seems you think you’re in charge,” Remus replied, voice also light, but his face was dangerously blank.
Sirius could feel his own heart begin to beat fast as he imagined the furious thoughts going through Remus’s brain. “Well. Am I wrong?” he asked smugly.
The raw hunger that flashed in Remus’s eyes was enough to make Sirius guess he’d gotten exactly the reaction he’d hoped for.
