Work Text:
As Nora begin singing, she couldn’t believe this was really happening. When she came to the party to check on Tina, she never imagined the night would end like this. Sitting beside Roko. Playing his piano. In his house. Alone with him.
She was still confused about what was going on between them. She kept reminding herself who he was: a playboy, the guy who had treated her friend badly. A rich boy who thought he could get anything he wanted. And yet, being around him felt strangely easy. His jokes were actually funny, though she'd never admit that out loud.
When Roko complimented her singing, her guard began to crumble. He even sang along with her. Sharing her passion with him felt so intimate.
She was surprised by how much they had in common. They both loved music. Even if his taste leaned toward trap, like all the teenage boys she knew, a genre she hated. Though she secretly listened to it. She knew he was a DJ, but she hadn’t expected him to actually care about music the way she did. For the first time in a while, she felt understood.
How was this even possible? This was the same boy she had sworn to hate months ago. But here she was—laughing, singing, enjoying herself.
Nora had tried for so long to be indifferent toward Roko. She’d avoided smiling around him, avoided looking at him too much (mostly because it made her nervous). And now, she was feeling exposed. And Roko? He clearly enjoyed having her there too.
So Nora decided to do something crazy. She let him see a part of herself she’d never shown anyone, not even her closest friends. She started to sing an original song. A song she had been onworking for so long. When he turned away respectfully, she appreciated the gesture more than he knew. Her nerves were buzzing, and she hoped he couldn’t see how much this moment meant to her.
As soon as the melody filled the room, her doubts and worries began to fade. Music made her feel alive. The song wasn’t finished, but it felt right to share it with someone. And somehow, that someone was Roko. The universe was making fun of her.
She could feel Roko’s stare. He wasn’t making jokes like he had done on the previous songs. He was focused only on her. And the worst part? She wanted him to like her song. Why would she want his approval? She hated that she cared about his opinion. It was silly. But when the song ended, she looked at him shyly.
His eyes were incredibly intoxicating. The way he looked at her made her cheeks burn. She detected a hint of desire on his eyes. And maybe love too? Oh god. What was she thinking? She was falling into his trap. He couldn’t love her... or could he?
She couldn’t hold his gaze for too long, she was afraid she might burn. Then Roko broke the silence with a grin and said “You were right. It kinda does suck”.
She almost laughed. She knew he was lying. That smile of his, was telling her the opposite. Of course he’d like it. And if she was truly honest… she was staring to like him too.
