Summary
May 11 is not a day like any other. It's the worst day of the year. They hate Mother's Day just as much as each other, even if for different reasons.
For them, it's like seeing a ticking time bomb. Fatidimentally, May 11th arrives, and everything explodes. Their worst memories come flooding back. For one, it's suffering, a distress that goes right to the bottom of the soul, and for the other, loss, a grief that eats away at the heart.
It's so unfair. They wish the situations were reversed. If only Chrissy's bitch of a mother had died years ago, so that she could grow up serenely, and blossom, without ever having been driven out of her home. If only Eddie's mother had still been there, taking care of him when his asshole father took off, instead of leaving him to fend for himself.
Chrissy doesn't have the strength to go to the front of her old house anymore. She's so tired of hearing all the horrible words her mother screams at her. Eddie doesn't even dare visit "her" grave. Because he's a fucking coward, and the silence of the tombstone terrifies him.
