As she swirled around to fling another round against the trolloc’s to her right she felt it. Her left shoulder was thrown back by a blade, she immediately felt the poison mixing with her blood. She stumbled and Lan caught her moments before her head touched the ground leaving her in a somewhat uncomfortable backbend but that was nothing compared to the agony her shoulder was in. Had it not have been for her knee length boots her ankles would have buckled and Lan would have to support more than just her back. Lost in the raging cacophony of sounds she realised some of that noice was coming from her own mouth in a scream of anguish. The pain was searing. She looked blurredly at the army of trollocs who still advanced, the pain was near blinding. Her and Lan locked eyes. She feared looking down at the protruding blade that was the source of her suffering.
“There’s too many.” Lan’s voice broke through her pain and he shook his head to make the message clear, hoping to convince his stubborn Aes Sedai that fleeing was the only way. But he saw the steely resolve in her eyes and knew that further attempts to get them to leave were futile. She clenched her jaw as his hand grabbed the blade lodged in her shoulder and pulled. Blood gushed out of the wound and he supported up so she was stood straight. Nausea racked her body. Through what Lan could feel through the bond, he was barely standing, he didn’t know how she was able to it. She lurched forward slightly when stood alone and he feared she would either vomit or pass out. His Aes Sedai was stubbornly strong however. As the trollocs roared she turned to face Lan who obediently went to guard her back.
“Light give me strength.” She half spoke, half moaned. The trollocs advanced and she pulled on every piece of energy she could muster. The fires in the hearths, the water in the air, the soil in the ground. It surrounded her in a whirlpool as Lan danced around her, protecting her from attack from behind. She looked up at the sky, at the tendrils of light she was pulling down. After closing her eyes and biting the inside of her cheek to distract from the pain, something in her snapped. Her eyes flew open and one by one the bricks obeyed her commands. The pain of throwing her arm was overwhelming, but she kept at it. Bricks flying one after the other into the onslaught of trollocs till nothing but timber remained of the building. Then, when she saw the last blurry shapes of the trollocs lying on the ground, everything went black. Lan was crouched behind her watching as she worked, his sword resting across the top of his shoulders. As the brick-less building collapsed, so did she. As she fell to her knees Lan sprinted towards her and as her shoulder hit the ground he leapt on top of her. Protecting her body from the flying debris and shielding her eyes with his hands. He felt her breath beneath him and sighed. A stubborn one his Aes Sedai. She wouldn’t give up the fight that easily.
