    Derek took another step toward the bed, the distance between them shrinking. “Twelve years or not… I was always going to come.”

    Stiles’ breath hitched just slightly, eyes flicking up to meet Derek’s. “Yeah,” he whispered. “That’s why I listed you.”

    There was a pause. The kind that settled deep in the bones. Derek studied him - this man who had grown up and grown strong and carried so much weight in his silence. This man who still managed to look at him with softness.
