Chapter Text

“Riddle Rosehearts— don’t you dare fuck shit up” is what his mother used to say to him. Well, not like that, but you get the point.

He was sure to make sure everything he did was perfect— it HAD to be perfect in fact.

There was no way he would mess anything up aside from friendly social interactions which he managed to fuck up very once in a while.

But this time, he definitely messed up. In fact, it was more than a mess up. He fucked up, real bad.

It was Floyd’s fault. It was all his fault. That is all Riddle can say. It was his fault he decided to burst into the lab while Riddle was in the middle of making a potion for his assignment, knock down one of the bottles which fell into the cauldron, and made Riddle mess up the stirring.

“Floyd! Call a teacher, now!” Riddle called out as he tried to neutralize the now bubbling potion. But it was too late. As Floyd tried to leave, the potion exploded, forcing them to inhale a gas that soon made the both of them pass out.

Ace was passing by the room when he heard an explosion. He was curious about what happened and quickly opened the door to see a light purple smoke exit the room.

“Shi— *cough*— what happened?” He covered his lower face with his shirt and ventured into the room. He looked around for a moment before spotting 2 people passed on the ground. He squinted before realizing it was his housewarden and his basketball team mate.

“Yeah so that’s what happened, housewarden” Ace finished explaining his side of the story to Riddle. The other just stared blankly at him from the infirmary bed he was on at the moment. The silence lasted for a few minutes before Ace started to get worried.

“Hey housewarden… did I say something wrong? If you’re just going to stare at me doing nothing, I’ll just go get Trey-senpai…” Ace started again. The other just continued to stare at him blankly, it was starting to scare the other. You could see a sweat particle trickle down Ace’s forehead as he began to laugh nervously.

“H-hey housewarden… Do you need anything? Hahaha… do I have something on my—” he was cut off by an out of character careless laugh. Now Ace was terrified.

Sure, he’s seen his housewarden laugh a couple times, more now than before since they’ve gotten closer recently. But now it feels different. His laugh was more childish— more airy— more… genuine?

“Ohuuuu… Alice-chan’s face looks very scared now! HAHAHAHA!” He continued to laugh like a mad man. And now the freshman beside him was inching away from his senior.

“Alice… chan??” He asked in horror. Riddle stopped laughing, and gave a lazy smile that showed his teeth in a menacing way.

“If you don’t like it, It’s just to be off with your head” he said in a sweetly menacing tone, and a big smile.

Ace ran away from the infirmary, screaming for Trey. Everyone else in the room was confused.

Azul had been told about what happened and went to the infirmary to visit (scold) Floyd. Jade was supposed to be here, but he seemed to have a… “club meeting” that day. What meeting— a question typically asked by Azul, it was just Jade in the club so what’s the use of the meeting, especially at 8pm? But now, Azul was sitting beside Floyd, waiting for the eel to wake up.

“These eels, I swear…” Azul mumbled under his breath. It seemed to take a while for Floyd to wake up, so he decided to take a small nap as well beside his bed, resting on the table beside.

He was slowly drifting off, but was startled by a sudden scream which was now ringing in his ears. A loud “Trey-senpai!” was now echoing in the infirmary as a loud laugh accompanied it.

This also seemed to wake up the patient Azul was waiting for. Azul looked up to see Floyd now sitting up on his bed. He sighed and stood straight himself.

“Ah Floyd, you’re finally awake. Are you well enough to walk back to Octavinelle or do you wish to stay here?” either way, any will be fine as long as you don’t bother me — was left unsaid by the other.

“I’m well enough, thank you for the concern” Floyd responded properly. Azul stared at the other questioningly. When he had decided to talk properly, he did not know. He wanted to question it, but he was too tired to.

“Okay then, let’s head back. And you know, there’s been a little mishap in the kitchen for some reason without anyone to supervise. Now we have a bunch of lemonade. I’m thinking of putting on a lemonade sale to get rid of it if we can’t finish it. You want some?” Azul informed the other, who was weirdly enough buttoning his uniform properly. The eel patted his shirt down before looking at him blankly.

“Does it have honey?” that was weird. Why would that matter? Azul was now extremely concerned.

“Um… yes? It always does. Why? Is something wrong? Are you not allowed honey all of a sudden? What’s with this?” Azul quickly asked, looking at Floyd with concern. “Are you… okay, Floyd?”

Floyd stared at the other blankly before suddenly saying something which made Azul almost pass out.

“Queen of Hearts rule number 256, You must not drink lemonade with honey past 8pm. By the look outside, it seems that time. Are you trying to make me break the law, Azul?” Floyd declared in a stern and accusing voice. His posture straightened, making him seem even taller. He was now towering over Azul.

Azul was stunned— and not in a good way.

“Floyd… are you okay…? Answer honestly.” Azul questioned. The other scoffed and put an arm on his hip.

“I am in perfect condition, thank you for asking” he answered.

If anyone in Octavinelle heard Azul crying in his office, they said nothing.
