Work Text:
Light filtered through their curtains, piercing their eyelids and waking them from a peaceful sleep. Peri grumbled, moving onto their side to hide from the light, pulling their soft blanket over their body.
It never did like waking up, and waking up meant school! Sure, it did well in school, but that didn’t mean it liked it.
But going to school meant seeing the band! Sammy, Goldie, and Irep! And seeing them normally led to going to the music room after class for practice.
What day was it?
“PERIIIII!” Mom yelled for them, breaking the heavy silence they liked in the mornings.
It sighed, sitting up in bed, blanket falling off its body, wings limp against its back.
“Gods… COMING!” They yelled back, slipping out of bed, messing with their slightly tangly hair, looking in the mirror set up in their room.
The black dye was fading, showing the purple underneath it. Cool effect, but Peri preferred what it had. Gotta dye it again soon.
They shook their head, trying to rid the clouds of sleep from their mind, wings flaring up, causing a sudden stab of pain, making Peri yelp.
RIght.
No fast movements.
Stupid wings.
Quickly combing its fingers through its hair, Peri pulled away from the mirror, grabbing its school bag and guitar case. It threw the door to its room open, carrying itself with the bubbly energy it was known for.
Tail swaying back and forth, they entered the living room, a large grin on their face. “Good morning, Mom! Good morning, Dad!” They chirped loudly, accidentally cutting off whatever conversation Mom and Dad had been having before they interrupted.
Dad got up, floating away quietly, presumably to make lunch for the teenager. Mom stayed sitting on the couch, smiling at her child.
“Good morning, Peri!” She returned, tilting her head to the side.
“Ooooh! Peri! Don’t forget about your daaateee!” Dad called from the other room, making Mom giggle.
“NOT A DATE! I’m just hanging out with Irep! Nothing more, nothing less!” Peri defended, face going blue.
“Sure, sweetie… just make sure to get to school before–”
“Yes–! Yes… I know. Get to school before you’re late! You’ll get penalized if you’re late..! I know this… Mom..” It realized that it had cut her off. “Ahah… sorry…”
Mom waved a hand, looking away. “Oh, no… It’s fine!” She reassured.
“Perrriiiii you’re going to be late for your datteee!” He called out again.
“NOT A DATE!” Peri yelled, poofing clean clothes onto their body, deciding that they were too lazy to change.
It walked to the front door, opening it quickly. “LOVE YOU GUYS! SEE YOU WHEN I GET HOME!” Peri walked out, being hit with the welcoming warm air.
Holding back a yawn, they ran down the sidewalk, getting weird looks from older fairies. Their arguably useless wings flapped behind them as they ran.
And ran.
And ran..
Man, the park seemed farther away than normal.
Eventually reaching the park, Peri dropped its bag and guitar case onto the small rocks that made up the ground, speed-walking over to the swings, sitting on one of them.
They pushed themself off the ground, swinging back and forth lazily, closing their eyes.
Irep’s supposed to be here soon, right?
For their date.
‘Not a date.’
The voice in its head reminded.
“Oh, yeah, right, Thanks.” Peri let out a breath, continuing to swing.
Their ear twitched, hearing footsteps from behind.
Before it could react, leather wings had been flung around it.
“FUCK–” Peri panicked, tail sticking out. They calmed when they heard the familiar laugh of Irep, his head leaning onto theirs. “Hi, Irep!”
“Hi, Peri…” He mumbled back.
It felt him move away, peeking into its vision, a small smile on his face. “‘Ya gotta stop doing that… it freaks me out.” Peri said in amusement, watching Irep sit down infront of it.
“I know.” He simply responded, shrugging.
“Jerk!” They giggled, slipping off the swing to sit infront of the Anti-Fairy.
The two sat in silence for a while, enjoying each other’s company. Peri shifted closer to Irep, letting out a dramatic groan and leaning into him. “Sigghhhh… I’m so tiredddd..” It felt one of his wings wrap around them. It relaxed from the touch, curling its tail around his leg.
“You’re so kind!” Peri closed their eyes, enjoying his warmth.
“I know… I’m the kindest, aren’t I?” Irep rolled his eyes, the smile on his face evident in his voice.
“I don’t want to go to school… I want to sit here with you forever…”
“You say this all the time… I can’t be THAT nice to hang around.”
“You should try hanging out with yourself.”
Irep laughed at that, lying down on the ground with the fairy.
“Can we stay here?”
“We can’tttt…” He sighs.
“I don’t care about getting in trouble…”
“Alright then… we can stay.”
“You’re the best.”
