Hesitation had become the norm since Tingyun started recovering. She constantly toed the line between taking the leap of faith and staying where she was comfortable. Though since she had started traveling again, more bravery had come with the new experiences.
When they traveled, Tingyun’s eyes always caught on Kafka. No matter what they did or where they went, Kafka brought a radiance unlike any other. Whether she was stealing a new coat or watching Silver Wolf harass Blade with an amused twinkle in her eye, she was magnificent.
And so untouchable. So close, but so distant. Unreadable and hard to predict; she went with whatever whim crossed her mind in the moment. Daring and bold and cunning and—
Tingyun knew that she shouldn’t yearn to know every part of Kafka like her traitorous heart wanted her to. It was illogical to think she’d ever begin to understand someone like Kafka. Beautiful in her mystery; an unsolvable puzzle.
Kafka, Kafka, Kafka…
She wanted to stay in Kafka’s orbit for however long she would let her. Until the destruction burrowing in her soul burned her from the inside out.
