Chapter Text
It was January 20th. Sanemi, absolutely drenched in the blood of dozens of demons and his own sweat. He ambled contently through the growth of the forest. Upon the trees were beetles. Sanemi found himself excited, this was a new species compared to the one he usually nurtured. He let his hand find its way to the bark of a tall pine tree. A beetle or two crawled over his large tanned hand. It tickled a little, not that Sanemi would mind it though. He scooped the beetles up and watched them squirm in the depths of his palm. After a minute or two of observation, he sat them down to be free in the refreshing green grove.
He then officiated his journey back to head quarters. He ran without effort, the yellow rays of the sun casting on his face. Small imprints of Sanemi’s feet running through the forest are fossilized in the mud. Within an hour, he had made it to his destination. Lady amaze sat in the middle of the large mansion, which was engrossed with trees and greenery. Two of her children seemed to be setting a rubber ball with colors galore. The two little girls sang a song happily. Lady Amane turned her head to see Sanemi. She gave him a small nod, while Sanemi returned the gesture with a quick wave. He stepped into a room in the mansion to find Ubuyashiki. Oyakata-sama. Sanemi was quick to kneel before his master. Ubuyashiki let out a cough, presumably because of his cursed illness. "Hello my child. I assume it’s you, Sanemi? I congratulate you on your mission.” He said with a calm tone that always made Sanemi feel warm and sunny inside, like a child showing a drawing they were proud of to their parent. Despite Oyakata-Samas lack of sight, sanemi felt the immense need to bow to show his appreciation— and so he did. “Yes, it is Oyakata-sama.” His haori and uniform ruffled, so it gave Ubuyashiki an inference of what was going on. A smile crept up on his face, paled and slightly purple with affects of illness. “You did well, my child.” Sanemi joined Ubuyashiki’s smile with his own. “Thank you.” After about a minute or silence, sanemi fled.
As he fled, he stumbled upon the water hashira, sitting on the patio of his estate. Sanemi felt a surge of anger…was it anger? Yes…anger(?).
“Tch.” Sanemi started to grit his teeth. Tomika’s deadpan demeanor, his sassy remarks, the way his eyes rolled whenever Sanemi argued in response, his long thick spiky hair, the way it had a navy blue hue to it whenever the sun hit it, and his narrowed pale blue eyes…gosh did they…infuriate— yeah, infuriate shinazugawa. Before he knew it, he had been staring for seconds.
Giyuu’s head turned around, sensing the pair of eyes behind him. They both were silent, Sanemi not yet realizing he had been spotted.
“…I can see you, shinazugawa.” Giyuu said, the unfazed look that pulled Sanemi in still resting, almost permanently, on his face.
Frozen, Sanemi turned red in the face.
[headcannon: Sanemi flusters very easily, but when drunk it is impossible to fluster him(might come in handy later?) and he becomes insanely flirtatious]
“…”
“S-shut up, tomioka.” He stuttered, letting out an attempted scoff. It was breathy, showing he was obviously caught off guard.
Giyuu took a finger to his own head, a spot of hair and pointed.
“…what are you trying to do.” Sanemi said, clearly puzzled.
Giyuu pointed again.
“Tomioka, answer me and stop being a prick.” Sanemi said, his annoyance rising in his voice,
As expected, Giyuu pointed again. Staring straight at Sanemi. About 20 feet of distance separated them.
“You think you’re funny?” Sanemi shouted, clearly angry, feeling his time was wasted.
Within a second, Giyuu was at sanemis side. But Sanemi didn’t flinch, that was expected of a hashira. Giyuu looked at Sanemi, then up at his head and calmly stated, “You hair. There is a leaf in your hair.” He said, still pointing to a spot on his own head, mirroring where the leaf was placed on sanemis short, fluffy, white hair.
“…oh.” Sanemi said, calmer aswell as he flicked it off his head. It was a seed typically described as an “airplane”. The two watched it spin and spin till it eventually hit the ground. “Doesn’t make you any less of a prick.” Sanemi stated. The two ran off in different directions.
About a minute later, Giyuu stopped. He had wanted more out of that interaction.
