(The cafeteria)

“wowie who is that!” Nary glanced their sapphire eyes towards someone Nary had never laid their pretty eyes on before. Someone with short dirty blonde hair, who was definitely taller than Nary. Xeir pink coloured eyes gently lifting themselves to face the stranger, Zora replied to Nary with a layer of tiredness clear in xeir voice “That's grian, he's new”

“I thought you were grian - and newt also?” The deer replied, faer tone full of a clear confusion. “Grian can't be that popular - or common of a name” Nary added on, tapping a black pen between their soft pointer finger and soft middle finger, the pen occasionally hitting faer face as their head was also sat in the same hand.
In the corner of Narys ocean coloured eyes, Zora could be seen giving fae an unsure shrug “ coincidence I guess” Zoras voice was undoubtedly flat and was clearly borderline bored. Narys gaze kept itself on grian - grian no3 (and for the sake of everyone's sanity - Zoras only gonna be referred as Zora and Newt as Newt, sorry grian duo)
Fae watched as Grian approached the two/duo, and, in a weird feeling of panic, faer head (and the black pen they held previously) escaped the rest it held in their pale hand. Replacing it's previous place leaning on the table, faer hand had drifted into faer pink hair, faer body twisting in Zora's direction electrically fast, their soft lips opened to blurt out
“Zora how do I look”, faer voice filled entirely in a wave of nervous panic - if someone's voice could sweat, Narys voice probably was. Zora switched xeir body over to return the glance Nary had on the younger parrot.
“You look fine?” escaping Zora's lips was a small, but confused chuckle
Narys response to the parrots “helpful” advice was to move faer arm from faer pink locks, and cross their two arms against their chest, letting out an exasperated sigh as they spoke “fine?”
“Yeah - Nary are you alright?”
Nary batted faer blue eyes in confusion at Zora's question “yeah why do you as-”
“Your acting weird” interrupted Zora quickly “ever since you saw grian y-” Zora cut off the addition to xeir previous statement, the realisation xey had come to hitting mid sentence.
“- you like grian” with a quick movement of faer pale hand, fae covered every inch of faer best friends mouth “noooo” Nary, couldn't look faer best friend in the eye, instead faer eyes found themselves glancing to the side. Zora's face couldn't help but twist into a smile, lifting pale arms around and onto the hand covering xeir mouth, gently removing Narys grasp.

“Sure sure” xeir pale hand swung in Narys direction in dismissal, twisting xeir body back over to the direction the two were facing previously, towards grian.
“You don't believe me!” Nary squeaked out, leaning their body closer to xeir friend and placing their hand on Zora's arm
“Don't believe what?” an unfamiliar voice questioned. Narys pale hand left Zora's arm, twisting their entire body to face the beautiful stranger - grian.
“Nothing!!” The Canadian all but squeaked out. Grian mumbled something under her soft breath, something the Canadian couldn't hear.
“Can I sit here?” The dirty blonde lifted her pale finger, pointing towards the seat next to Zora. Zora's quick response was a nod, followed by words of approval “no yeah of course!” xey beamed softly

Adjusting xeir pale body to the side, pushing Nary along with xem, the duo attempted to make more room for Grian, who was now twisting her pale body around the table and onto her new seat “usually our friend newt sits there but their either late or not here today!” Zora beamed in explanation, xeir body slightly slanted to face Grian as xey spoke.
“Zora weve been here for two hours - it's lunch time for fuck sake - I don't think newts gonna show up!” Narys voice abrutly reminded the parrot
“true” Zora meekly admitted, twisting back around to face xeir friend
“I should probably introduce Nary an - us - I'm Zora Starlight, or Magic, and this is my friend of many names - Nary!” Zora beamed - did the parrot leave out xeir other names on purpose? At least Nary was dubbed “someone with many names”. Zora didn't even suggest xey had more - oh why did this matter so much to Nary?
“Many names?” Grian questioned
“Nary, Lisette slash Lizzie, Fawn, Sage, Rose, Citrus - I think that's it?” “- oh kirby too!” The chipper girl added on lightning fast. “Ohhhh” Grian replied, her pale body switching to face the front of the schools cafeteria.
“So uh, grian do you have any friends?” Nary attempted to chime in, leaning faer body onto the table to be able to look at Grian. Grian, didn't return the same energy though, even as the dirty blonde spoke and replied to Nary, shaking his dirty blonde locks, his brown eyes didn't leave the front of the room “no I'm new” - right Zora told fae that didn't xey - “oh well we-” “we can be your friends grian!” Zora cheerfully chimed in, stealing the words from Narys mouth. Grian titled his head to face Zora, a small smile could be seen creeping up at the tips of his mouth. A smile mostly aimed at Zora's offer - the offer xey had stolen from Nary, but, even still, Nary could've sworn he also looked faer way, even for a brief second.

“That would be nice yeah” the dirty blonde spoke in almost a whisper, a warm whisper that made Narys heart feel funny and jittery. “Goodie!” Zora smiled, switching xeir body back to the front.
“When does lunch end?” Grian spoke, louder than his previous whisper
“45 minutes!” Zora beamed

(Math class)

The trio sat down in almost perfect sync. “math class” Groaned, a tired and groggy Zora, replacing the earlier energy the parrot had at lunch.
“someone could kill me now you know - I wouldn't mind!” the Australian sarcastically chimed on
“I'll do it” grian's voice could be heard in an offer, but, before the parrot could sarcastically speak out a response, the threes math teacher swung open the classrooms blue door

A red pen danced and escaped the pale grasp of the dirty blonde, hitting the schools Gray carpet floors gently - almost as if it was in contrast to the harsher - but equally as quiet - mumbled that traced her lips. “Shit”, although grian was relatively quiet, Nary could still hear his frustrated mumble even in the sea of voices Nary found faerself drowning out. This wasnt a surprise - that Nary somehow heard Grian. Fae had all their attention glued on grian, their blue eyes stitched to the side grian had been sitting herself at. Specifically, lost in the brown eyes of Grian. Narys next movement was almost akin to instincts - or that's how Nary thought it felt like. Lifting faer small body under the table, ducking faer head with faer body as to not bump it. Faer hand clasped itself around the pen Grian had dropped. Popping faer pink locks/head up next to Grian, and soon their body, they smiled as fae spoke
“You dropped this” Nary beamed, tossing the scarlet coloured pen to Grian. Faer smile - grew? Or was that supposed to be an attempt - a sad attempt at smirking? Did Nary think fae were cool? Nary leaned faer head forward, resting it on faer hand - which had found itself now leaning on the table. Faer “smile” (or smirk) was definitely, in Zora's eyes, supposed to make Nary look cool - was Nary trying to impress Grian - if so was picking up a pen supposed to be impressive? If it was Narys gazing ocean eyes, full of adoration and something so undoubtedly dorky - were making it hard for Zora - and by extension, probably Grian - to take Nary seriously.
Grian flinched at the pen flying towards her, her pale fingers wrapping around and catching the pen.
“Yeah I did - thanks” Grian returned Narys smile softly, his response mixed with a slight chuckle. “Yeah no probl -” “Nary?” Cut off, an annoyed Zora, who was giving Nary a pink coloured glare
“Hm?” Nary hummed, confusion dropping faer smile
“I need help with something”
“What's that?”
“Come here I'll show you” Zora could see Narys eyes briefly escape xeir glance and - unsurprisingly - briefly look at Grian “right” Narys smile returned, lifting faer body up and twisting it around the table, towards where fae were previously seated next to Zora. Nary felt Zora's sharp jab of an elbow at faer side as soon as they rested faer pale body down onto faer chair. “Really?” Zora questioned in a whisper to xeir best friend “what?!”

(PE class)

PE class, the worst class ever in Zora's eyes. Zora hated the class and everything about it - well almost everything - the people there - Nary, Newt and now Grian - were xeir friends, so that was a plus

The other upside to the class was
Aria Montgomery
Aria Montgomery, a pale brunette with dark brown eyes, also was in xeir PE class. Aria was - drop dead stunning, and kind and sweet and - oh she was so sweet - and Aria was creative and - Zora was crushing hard on the girl - absolutely head over heels. So flustered and in love that - despite xem sharing the class with others, it didn't matter. Xey were always distracted, hanging out with Aria in the class. Which left Nary and grian alone - alone with each other. Now Nary wasn't a huge fan of PE either, but what Nary was a fan of was the idea of impressing Grian - this time it just happened to be in PE class.

“Where exactly did Zora go?” Grian's question echoed, Nary watching as the dirty blonde, turned to get a basketball. “xey went to talk to Aria I think” Nary shrugged. Twisting his body back around, Grian raised an eyebrow “who?”
“Xeir cr - friend” Nary replied, lifting faer arm up as Grian moved her arm to throw her basketball to Nary “Do xey ditch you for Aria often?”
“Just for PE - And even then, xey refuse to do so if I'll be alone” the twos chattering echoed in each other's ears and along the gym, drowned out by the voices of every other students chatter.
“Right - so if you hadn't let me sit with you?” “Basically yeah” “good thing you did then”
“Yeah” the Canadian paused, faer arms firmly wrapped around the basketball - of course fae knew what Grian said was a joke - it was obvious and direct in the dirty blondes tone - but that didn't mean Narys reply was - evident by the warmer tone and smile Nary held, contrasting Grian.
“Hey watch this” Nary turned to face side, faer head lifting up to a basketball net, lining faer hand as close as they can to line up with the net. The ball flew up, nearing the net before it ultimately missed, falling back down. “Impressive” Nary heard from the sarcastic brit, Narys glance didnt leave the falling ball even as the sarcastic Brit spoke, making sure they could catch the basketball. “Okay - fine this time I'll get it!” “Sure” Grians voice was, full of doubt, their arms crossing against his chest. Nary titled faer arm, almost identical to what fae had done previously - but not quite the same, Grian noticed, it wasn't a big difference, but it was one that, when the short Canadian shot for the net for a second time, it actually squirmed its way through the net. Narys head immediately shot towards grian, scanning the dirty blondes pale face for any form of reaction, in which fae got in form of Grian flashing them a smile “Nice” She beamed.

And before Nary could realise their lack of reply - and the awkward silence they had left as they internally swooned in faer head - was probably a problem and really awkward, Grian could be seen, from the corner of faer blue eyes, in a quick movement dashing towards Nary - wait no - towards the net - and with this sudden movement, Nary was definitely and certainly no longer sunk in the daydreamed haze they hadn't even realised fae were in, faer gaze lifted towards where they could see grian looking at: Narys basketball - falling into Grians arms softly. “If I didn't catch that, it would've hit your pretty little head” Grian - flirted? Why did he say it like that - why did she say that at all? “- fuck I sound like scar” grian returned to her regular tone - albeit more exasperated to fit what he had just mumbled to herself.
“Here” he stared down, right at Nary, handing the basketball to the canadian carefully. “I think it would be even more impressive if you did it twice, but you probably can't” Grian shrugged in a tease, her face fighting back a smirk in the corner of his lips, stepping back, close to where the dirty blonde stood previously.
“I could-” Nary cut faerself off - they could try - especially if it would impress Grian - Goth why Nary cared so much was beyond them - fae only just met the beautiful dirty blonde, the sarcastic but sweet girl in front of them - someone Nary didn't know existed until today - until lunch! Why did this boys opinion matter to Nary so much? This idea of impressing her - where did it come from - and why did Narys mind fixate on it? - well whatever the reason, it had Nary in a chokehold - it made Nary, of course, try again. Shooting high - too high - Nary thought originally. But as the basketball flew across the air, the ball managed to roll its way in, and, in order to not get hit like fae did earlier, Narys next movement was sharp, bolting for the basketball, and of course - it seemed grian had the same ide, the twos arms overlapping. Grian, naturally as the taller one, had her grasp on the ball first, her arms reaching further for it.
“I had that” Nary shot grian a joke death glare. “Yeah well I thought you had it last time too- you can never be too safe” Grian tossed the ball over her shoulder, a chuckle emerging from his lips as he turned her back to Nary, retracing her steps to fixate her stance back to where it was before she caught the ball again.

Nary flinched the catch the ball, faer mind glued to a singular thought- about grian

Cute.

3 days later - Friday

(??? Class)

Nary sat in class, blue eyes glued on the slow moving clock - giving students free time is great - when you know you'd rather be doing - no that's not right - Nary knew what they wanted to do - they wanted to go to the mall with faer friends - something that was happening after this slow moving class - Something the Canadian couldn't do while at school - so Nary was stuck, stuck twiddling their thumbs, watching the clock and waiting.
‘I could draw’ Nary thought to themselves- their ocean eyes meeting the empty notebook in front of them for a quick second - and then their glance of course, returned to the clock. The idea of drawing gave Nary a headache at the moment - Art block Nary reckoned. Nary watched the clock reach its final destination, signalled by an echoing ring of the bell.

(The locker room)

Faer blue eyes spotting zoras scarlet wings from behind the familiar Australian- fae managed to skil faer way over to their friends locker after pushing past a few of the students in faer way.
“Zzzzorrraaa~” Nary sung, watching their takker friend yank at the straps of his kuromi themed backpack and adjusting it onto his shoulders.
“Nary! I missed you!” Zora beamed, closing his locker shut sharply and lifting xeir pale body from the ground. “Where's grian?” Xey questioned, his confusion accompanied by a tilt of xeir head - like a dog or a confused animal.
“Zora I just got out of class and to the locker room how would I know?”
“You mean his biggest fan isn't aware of where he is?”
“Can you stop that?’
“Stop what?”
“Stop th- Grian!” Nary squeaked the interruption out after Zora had lifted a pale finger at the dirty blonde, which of course, had Nary switch faer body to face whatever Zora was pointing at
“Hey?” A small, amused chuckle emerged from the confused blondes lips “didn't see - when did you get there?” “Just now?” Grian twisted their body to the ground, dropping down in front of her locker. Nary and Zora shot each other a glance, more and more voices could be heard emerging the trios way - into the locker room - and it was already crowded there as it was - so, in a silent agreement, the duo decided it would be best to move away, to the less crowded side of the schools locker room, subtly pushing their way past anyone who was in the twos way.

Zoras pale body leaned itself on a wall, his purple coloured backpack squishing due to the extra weight of xeir body “how does the wing things work with the backpack” Nary abruptly questioned “isn't it uncomfortable?”
“Oh yeah no it doesn't work - you just get used to it” Zora shrugged. Narys eyebrows scruned in on their face “that ducks”
“Yeah - I've seen avian ‘safe’ backpacks online or around in stores but they tend to be really expensive”
“Grian has a lot of money ask them for it” the tone of Narys voice was the definition of “verbal eyeroll”, covered in sarcasm and playfull teasing.
“She did get me for that shopping game” Zora deliberately trailed off his voice off, presumably “considering” Narys joke suggestion
“what was that anyway?” Zora lifted a pale purple eyebrow
“What was what?”
“the game”
“wh - oh -” Nary cut faerself off to think of an appropriate response to faer best friends question
“I just thought it would be fun” was the response fae ended up landing/deciding to choose, while not the main reason Nary made “the shopping game”, Nary also wasn't technically lying.
“this doesn't have anything to do wi-”
“it does - but just let me have this zora - you have Aria- I have Grian!”
“I'm not desperate to impress Aria!”
“you used to be!” “that lasted like - 2 days!”
“and look at you now, maybe you just didn't try hard enough” from the corner of their sapphire eyes, Nary saw grian emerge from the crowd/sea of students, slowly approaching the duo. Narys body switched to face the direction fae previously found faer eyes drifting to.

(The mall)

“Floor 2 is mine” Zora chimed as the trio swung open the malls double doored entrance. “No f- fine I'll have floor 3” Nary replied
“and that leaves grian with floor 1” two out of three of the trio - Grian and Nary - froze in place, after the trio had drifted to the side. However, unlike the other two who stood next to each other, zora placed xeirself in front of the two, specifically Grian as xey spoke to the brit
“We probably need lik- what if I get lost?” Grian spoke up “uh we have phones, just text us for help” flatly replied zora, xeir phone firmly placed and held in a pale grasp as he waved it at grian - probably to prove some sort of point, Nary noted.
“Okay well - when should we meet up- we can't be here till closing”
“I mean we could” “Zora!” Nary squealed
“We have 2 hours - how about that?”
“That works for me” “Okay sure” Nary beamed, moving faer legs and running up the malls black steps, walking themselves to the malls third floor.

(The mall; floor 3)

Nary eventually found faerself stood on the third floor, scanning faer blue eyes around, racking faer brain for any memories of what grian had told fae previously - any interests, hobbies or skills, something to help the Canadian - their eyes continuing to scan around the third floor for anything Grian may like. Standing there - standing still definitely wasn't helping the Canadian, so, lifting faer pale leg, the Canadian slowly drifted around the third floor. Faer ocean eyes following from behind fae, searching for a good store or at this point - any store they could buy a gift from.

Fae almost felt faerself give up - until their eyes froze, reading golden text above a shop - “spoons shiny shop”, Nary remembered occasionally seeing other stores with the same text around the nearby town, it was a jewellery store - quite a big one at that, a perfect place to find a gift for grian - the Canadians body switched to properly face the side fae found the store, placing faer foot through the - permanently open? - glass door entrance. Faer blue eyes scanned and their vison filled with aisles and rows of expensive looking jewellery. Nary also laid eyes briefly on a group of customers, chattering over the music playing, with bright smiles and overlay of laughter. Finally looking away and moving further down in the shop, away from the doorway, Nary found themselves searching in an aisle of bright and shining, glaring under the bright store lights, rings. Despite how well the rings in front of Nary looked, the prices Nary found for them were surprisingly cheap- probably bootlegs or knockoffs Nary reckoned - picking up a golden ring with a purple heart sat/sunk into the centre with a gentle movement, it didn't feel fake to Nary. The Canadian traced faer pale hand around the ring before placing and sitting the ring to its regular spot.

None of the rings searched through felt quite right, none of them really catching faer attention, and once they reached the end of both rows of stunning rings, they turned the aisles corner into the next section - rows of bracelets filling faer vision and replacing the rings - their eyes beginning to scan the aisles lazily- not really bothering to look properly , unlike faer earlier approach to the rings - and after faer half asked effort at searching the never ending aisle of bracelets, fae twisted around the next row, the necklace aisle. Nary thought back to the past few days - to Grian, who, Nary remembered wearing at least 2 different necklaces per day, maybe they could find something here.

The Canadian moved down the aisle, finding stuff Zora or even they would like before fae managed to find anything Grian would like. At least they weren't bored - a lot of these necklaces looked quite nice and Nary quite liked them. Looking and searching around the displays, something eventually and finally caught faer ocean coloured eyes, hidden behind a silver chain necklace, one Nary could've sworn fae had seen Grian wearing this past week - was a purple eyeball attached to a silver chain - Tracing faer memories back, flashes of memories where the girl with dirty blonde hair drew purple eyes balls in her sketchbook and even in school work- why grian enjoyed that type of imagery was beyond Nary, but fae knew he did. Nary held the necklace in faer hand - it was quite pretty - twiling the silver chain between faer pale fingers, their ocean coloured eyes lifted slowly, scanning through the necklace display one final time, making sure there wasn't anything better to pick out - and, although a few more necklaces caught faer deep sapphire eyes, after close inspection, Nary had landed faer final decision on the necklace they had a soft grasp on.
Fae, briefly considered checking the other aisles, maybe something else would catch the glimpse of their eye - but fae decided against it after a brief moment of consideration, there were, too many aisles in Narys opinion, and either Nary knew they'd grow bored and tired, or fae would probably get get lost for way more way more than the 2 hours fae were given, plus, why look for something Grian would like if faer pretty sure fae already have something- wait what if grian didn't like it, or thought it was weird or - okay, that wasn't helping Nary justify not taking time to get lost in the displays of the store.

Standing near the stores gray-counter, the one sat at the very back of the store, Narys blue gaze drifted to the side, searching through the display nearby, not particularly for Grian, it was merely a distraction from how awkward Nary felt, standing at the counter, subconsciously turning the necklace around faer fingers. Before the Canadian could get wrapped around and lost in faer thoughts entirely, fae heard the echo of a question emerge from in front of them.
“How can I help you?” The British voice beamed - or well, pretended to beam, underneath the smile the British worker had, Nary could tell the worker- although 100 percent accidental - also left an underlay of boredom in their smile and cheery voice.
“I'd like to buy this necklace please” Narh tried to return the workers smile weakly, softly moving their hand onto the counter and sitting the necklace across. Nary watched as the worker picked up the necklace, scanning faer item, and soon after, a price flashed on the screen facing the worker - fuck Nary forgot to check the price - hopefully they can afford it - “30 dollars” the previously “chipper” display/act being dropped, a tired flat tone taking its place. Nary shot faer hand down to faer wallet, unzipping it open and sitting their hand in a way where they could slide out their card.

Before Nary left the store, their glance looked up at the time displayed on the clock they previously had found on the stores pale blue walls. They still had about an hour to kill before they had to meet with faer friends - maybe they should've looked around that shop more before fae left. Nary placed faerself against a handrail, leaning against it, trying to figure out what faer next course of action to kill time was. They could try get ice cream from floor 2, Zora probably wouldn't mind Nary doing so - maybe the two could get it together as well! Nary leaped faer body up as they walked across to the stairs, making faer way down the stairs and to floor 2. Nary realised that they were walking quicker to the ice cream shop than their usual speed, weird but not a big deal.

(The mall; floor 2; the ice cream parlor)

Lifting faer pale pale against the shops glass door, fae pushed it open slowly, the stores bells ringing as they placed faerself inside the doorway, and soon after, the ice cream shop. Scanning faer drifting eyes across the familiar shop, Nary saw a few customers laced around - some sat together, while others sat alone - and then there was also - zora? Narys ocean eyes on the sight of faer familiar friends lavender hair and the scarlet wings that sat in xeir back. It was clear zora hadn't seen the Canadian yet, his eyes more glued to xeir phone, which was sitting upright on its own on the stores wooden tables. Nary considered leaving - Zora seemed perfectly fine and content watching whatever was on xeir phone screen while eating xeir mint ice cream, but, Nary decided against that, sneaking faer way around small clumps of people, Nary stood faerself in the - Relatively small, line.

Nary pulled out a wooden chair placed in front of Zora, faer bowl of ice cream sitting itself on the space in front of fae. Sitting themselves down, Nary saw Zora press xeir finger on his phones off button, placing xeir spoon to the side of the bowl. Zoras hand wrapped around xeir phone, moving it into whatever pocket he currently had.
“Aren't you meant to be upstairs” Zora smiled, xeir hand lifting from xeir pocket and twisting onto his spoon again.

The two had lost themselves in conversation, practically forgetting about their bowls of ice cream, only biting in every other/few minutes.
“- but yeah it is what it is I guess” Zora spoke into a sigh, moving xeir spoon to scoop up the final chunk of xeir mint ice cream xey had “I guess” Nary shrugged, eyes briefly drifting to faer own empty bowl before they ultimately lifted and met Zoras face again. A buzz could be heard from zoras phone, which had the screen facing down on the wooden table after Zora got it back/retrieved it from xeir pocket to show Nary a photo from xeir photo gallery. Nary watched zoras gentle pink eyes dance to the direction of xeir phone, dropping his silver spoon into the now, empty ice cream bowl, grabbing his phone to check the buzz
“time successfully killed Zora chimed, the phone leaving his hand and returning to its original placement on the gable after he had read the message. “What?”
“you told me you want to kill time remember?- well you've successfully done it”
“right - so do we need to go or-”
Zora shook his lavender hair and returned the phone to xeir hand “Grian can meet us here” Zora spoke, small keyboard noises and finger tapping could be distantly heard from Zoras phone “do they know where we are-” “don't worry about it- I've got it figured out already okay?” Zoras phone was still held in his pale hands, even when he adjusted it down enough to where Nary could see xeir pale face, flashing fae and reassuring and comforting look.

It took the dirty blonde a bit to find the ice cream parlor, but once he did he could feel a wave/wash of relief envelope her whole body. Grian saw Narys body turn to grian's direction after she made her way into the ice cream shop, entering the doorway as she saw Nary lift faer pale hand to twirl a wave at the brit, Nary couldn't help the fact their face forced a beaming smile onto faer face as grian entered, as grian approached the duo, as Grian pulled out a wooden chair situated and sat next to where Nary sat, moving her body onto the chair, his back hitting the wooden back as he made herself comfortable. “Did you find anything?’ Nary chimed, faer gaze following the movement of Grian
“Yeah i think so” he replied, and, from the corner of faer blue glance, Nary caught and could see Grians hand raise from her pocket, wrapped around and intertwined amongst his fingers was a lavender coloured pen, and under and peaking from beneath said fingers, a small kuromi sunk up. “I actually got you two things’ Grian unwrapped and let escape/roll onto the wooden table and towards Zora, who, was somewhat caught off guard as the spending spun towards xeir end of the table, xeir arm shooting from his side and scooping the pen up. Grian watched the mess unfold as her hand briefly remet her pocket, digging around for what Nary knew now was a card, a card Nary didn't manage to read before Zora could scoop the card up from Grians grasp
“Oh sweet - thanks!” Zora smiled, placing the two gifts/items into his back pocket
“What was the card?” Narh asked, their attention now briefly fully focused on Zora
“Its a card for that shop - the one with the avian backpacks” Zora clarified, xeir body shuffling off xeir backpack awkwardly, his warm wrapping around to the zip and pulling the zip open

“My gift next then?’ Nary questioned as faer blue eyes watched zora struggled, curious as the avian in front of fae nodded his purple locks. Snatching what seemed to be black fabric from xeir bag, Zora threw the bag previously on his lap onto the floor, Xeir body returned to relaxing as his pale arms “unfolded” (it wasn't actually folded in the first place, just shoved in there - Unscrunched then?). Narys gift/item was then revealed to be a shirt, a plain black tshirt that had the words “power rangers ghost hunting” and few symbols sat in the corner of the shirt
“power rangers ghost hunting’ Grian read out loud as his eyes read and danced around the text “what's that?” she added on in a tired and confused, curious question.
“It's like a- it's hard to explain” Zora chimed, interrupting xeirself mid sentence in an obvious struggle to find the right words to explain the significance of the jet black tshirt xey were - now (properly!) Folding, placing his hand on top of the shirt after he had finished, sliding it across to Nary. “Maybe Nary could like explain or shoe you sometime” Xey added on, head sitting itself in the palm of xeir left arm, which sar still on the wooden table. “- Ah um yeah uh maybe” Nary squeaked out in surprise at the suggestion, grabbing the Tshirt and placing it in faer own bag, and, after Nary made sure the Tshirt was sat in their bag properly, Nary scrunched faer hand around the inside of faer pocket, latching into the silver chained necklace.

“So, somehow - despite my terribly bad memory- I kind of like- remembered that you mentioned that you liked silver jewellery - and that - and then I also remembered how many times I caug- saw you drawing eyes in your work and stuff- which - me remembering that is impressive to me at least - uh not th- yeah okay nevermind” Narys eyes left Zora's face and refused to look up at the dirty blonde fae were speaking to, lifting the necklace from their pocket and onto the table. Grian leaned closer to the spot Nary had placed the necklace (and by extension; closer to Nary in general) and scooped it up to inspect closer.
“Nary, any of us remembering anything is a miracle” Zoda sarcastically replied with a roll of their eyes. And while, Nary did Want to retort and protest - snap back or something- Zora wasn't terribly wrong - infact the Avian was just plainly right - all three of them had terrible memories.
Narys eyes left the ground to return to glaring at Zora as the avian spoke more as they shrugged “but you did just meet grian so what do I know - maybe that's more impressive”
“Its pretty” Grian spin the necklace around his fingers, her words coming out in a distracted mumble. Zora, clearly hearing the dirty blondes mumbles, glanced over at Grian and shot the man a question “what do you think gri - is Nary creepy or impressive for remembering all of that about you- given that you guys met on Tuesday” The smirk that formed on zoras face told Nary everything fae needed to know, faer friend knew exactly what xeir doing, snickering once the words left his lips. Grians distracted haze was cut by Zora's question, their hand shooting down into their pocket, their eyebrows scrunching and burying into her face at the question “ah - uh - none?- maybe a bit impressive? I don't know”
That was a score in Narys book

The next day
Saturday
(Narys house; narys room)

Nary sat faerself in the middle of a pale, dull, pink chair, one currently faced towards the end/edge of faer bed, and on Narys soft bed, was Zora, lying on xeir stomach, phone lazily sat on one of his pale hands as he scrolled - what appeared/seemed to be (at least to Nary) twitter.
“You've been trying to impress her all week - have you even came close to succeeding yet?” Zoras eyes glared up from his phone and met Narys face “She seemed pretty impressed yesterday” a weak smile formed on the deer's face, accompanied by a shrug of unsure shoulders.
“I don't think she cared - also earlier you mentioned - did you really think picking up that pen for her would actually work or impress her”
“Yes!! … maybe? I don't know!” Nary cried out, their body leaning back against the chair as faer head shot up to face the roof
“You are - something else” Nary could see Zora shake his lavender hair from the very edge of faer blue eyes. “Do you want my advice” Zora switched xeir phone screen off, just in time to watch the pink haired deer shoot their pale head back down to nod at Zora
“Draw her something, use on of the skills you actually have and try impress him that way”
The words echoed through Narys head as they left Zoras mouth, ideas soon flooding and floating into faer mind/brain as soon as the suggestion entered faer mind
“wait why didn't I think of that?”
