Chapter Text
Soobin sighed, shutting his laptop after barely surviving another three-hour study session filled with Shakespearean metaphors and his own existential dread.
He rolled onto his side, hugging a pillow with one hand while blindly tapping away at his phone with the other. His eyes were barely open when he typed:
| "Night, idiot. Don’t forget to put on the humidifier or you’ll wake up sounding like a dying seal again 😴"
His thumb pressed send, and he didn’t even double-check the contact name.
With a huff, he tossed the phone to the side and buried his face in the pillow, ready to pass out.
Until—
Buzz.
Buzz.
Groaning, Soobin reached for his phone again, expecting his roommate Beomgyu to retaliate with some annoying meme.
Instead, the screen lit up with something he hadn’t expected.
Unknown Number:
| “…I think you meant this for someone else. But I’ll take the reminder. Thanks, I guess?”
Soobin sat up.
“What?” he muttered aloud, rereading the message.
He clicked on the previous text he sent and blinked.
No.
No no no.
He did not just send that to a random number.
Panicked, his fingers flew across the screen.
Soobin:
| "OH MY GOD I’M SO SORRY."
| "Please ignore that. Pretend it never happened. I’ll go crawl into a hole now."
He buried his face in his hands, completely mortified. Maybe if he deleted the entire conversation and threw his phone out the window, the stranger would forget about him.
But the phone buzzed again.
Unknown Number:
| “Too late. Now I’m wondering what kind of seal impressions that person does in his sleep.”
Soobin blinked.
He shouldn’t be laughing.
But he was.
It wasn’t a weird or creepy reply. It was teasing. Warm. And a little ridiculous.
He hesitated, biting his lip before typing back.
Soobin:
| "Okay but you still don’t know who I am."
Unknown Number:
|“True. But I feel like we’ve bonded over your tragic seal-snore.”
| “You have a good texting style, by the way. Very dramatic.”
Soobin laughed softly, shaking his head.
Soobin:
| "Thanks... I think?"
There was a pause.
Unknown Number:
| “Sweet dreams, mystery sender 💬”
Soobin’s heart did this weird flip.
He stared at the screen for a second, lips curled into a shy smile.
Soobin:
| "Sweet dreams, mystery receiver."
And with that, the screen dimmed.
Soobin finally put his phone aside, falling asleep with a tiny smile on his face.
The message had reached the wrong person.
But somehow... it didn’t feel like a mistake.
