Summary
Bit by bit, Buck stopped.
It began with the little things. First, he stopped checking his phone when he woke up. He used to do it everyday. He’d check for notifications on Chimney’s instagram, or maybe a new message from the 118 group chat. It wasn’t that anyone other than him texted at one in the morning, but sometimes he’d sleep past one of Cap’s old-timey GIFs or whatever.
Sometimes, Athena would text and greet him good morning. And a few weeks into knowing him, Chris would send a morning message begging for help, normally because Eddie was trying to make pancakes again.
So, with everything going on, Buck always made it a point that the moment his eyes opened, he would check his phone.
Until the first week after the lawsuit, and for the seventh day in a row, there wasn’t anything there except a pitfall in Buck’s stomach.
Nothing.
Never.
Not even a quick ‘hello’.
So, Buck ceased checking his phone. After all, why did he even need to?

Evan Buckley's life was perfect. To him at least- as perfect as it could be in his mind. He had his job- something that was his and that he loved and worked hard for. He had his friends- his fire fam and their families, his chosen family. He had his sister Maddie whom he felt closer than ever to. And he had his favorite people in the world- his family with Eddie and Christopher- his best friend and the love of his life and the man's son who was just as much Buck's son. Buck had all of this and it was more than enough for him. After so many years, after his childhood, he finally had such a happy life and he'd never trade it for anything in the world.
The day this bliss was threatened, it was a cold and stormy February morning.

Summary
Buck thought going back to the 118 would be hard, but he knew that his team, his family, would move on from the lawsuit. Only Bobby placed him on B-Shift where his team and new Captain have made it their mission to make Buck's life a living hell. When it becomes too much and Buck starts thinking about ending it all, he receives a life-changing phone call from Captain Owen Strand who would like Buck to come join them down in Austin at the 126. Buck immediately jumped at the opportunity to get away from everything. Only his mental health problems didn't go away with the move and Buck struggles with what happened and how to start a whole new life. The 126 are not about to let him go through this alone and together they show Buck that he has a family with them and they would never turn their backs on him.
