He couldn't believe the nerve of Picard -- pawning this, this woman off on him.
"Q -- can I call you that?" Lwaxana said, patting his arm familiarly. "And um, you wouldn't happen to be single would you?"
"I'm a continuum," he said flatly.
"A continuum?" Lwaxana said, eyebrow quirking up in interest. "Well! While I'd prefer to have a man all to myself, I can certainly share."
Q decided to snap the ambassador out of existence, then brought her back, hoping it would chasten her. Instead she only looked around in puzzlement for a moment before eagerly looping her arm through his again.
"Now, Q -- am I pronouncing that right? -- how would you like to join me in one of these holodeck thingies? I'd love to hear how you know the captain. He and I have quite the history, you know. I'd be happy to go into it--"
"You know Picard well?" Q asked. It was a fact he knew, somewhere in his infinite knowledge of the universe, but it hadn't struck him as relevant until this moment. "Ah, madame," he said brightly. "Now you have my attention."
Somewhere else on the Enterprise, Jean-Luc Picard felt a chill go through him.
