Work Text:
Angela sat on the couch in her shared apartment, wrapped up in a sweater that was too big for her. Actually, not even hers to begin with. Her girlfriend never minded though. Said girlfriend, Amanda, sat to her left with an arm draped over Angelas shoulders, face pressed with confusion as they watched two women fight in some kind of Turkish soap opera on the TV. Her cousin, and one of her roommates, Spencer, sat a bit off to her left, providing his own commentary to the show. “She should just push teal shirt girl down the stairs. Push her down the stairs. Push her down the stairs.” He chanted. Amanda joined in and the two cheered when the dramatic TV actress pushed the other down.
The doorbell to the apartment rang, an annoying buzzing that carried through the whole apartment. Angela groaned as Amanda quickly moved a finger to press her nose, “Not it.” Spencer and Angela follow quickly to do the same. A bedroom door opened and Courtney walked out, making their way quickly to the door while fasting an earring. “I got it, I got it!” The three on the couch quickly turned around and paid full attention to Courtney. They pressed the buzzer button on the panel next to the front door. “Hey! Come on up!”
Angela and Spencer scampered up from the sofa and made their way over to the kitchen table, Amanda following with a huff of laughter. The three sat down around it and gave Courtney their full attention. They looked at them with a serious expression. “Ok. Shaynes on his way up now. You know how much I like him, and that we've been going out for a minute,” their face switched to something more sincere, “but this is like introducing a guy to my parents. You guys are my family. I want you to like him.” Amanda smiled softly and stood up to give Courtney a hug. “You're our family too Court. And if you like him, I'm sure we will.” Angela snickered a bit and her girlfriend shot her a look, the other girl quieting up with a soft pout. “I hope so. Now be on your best behavior. Don't scare him off.” Courtney looked at Angela who just shrugged, shifting her face to a crooked grin. There was a knock at the front door. Courtney glanced at the three of them one last time before taking a deep breath and turning to answer it.
Coutney opened up, but stayed in the doorway, shielding the other three from seeing their new boyfriend. They eventually stepped back to let Shayne into the apartment. “Everyone,” they said, turning to face the kitchen, “this is Shayne! Shayne, this is everyone.” A small chorus of hellos went through the room. Shayne offered the group a small wave. “Hey.”
--------------------------------------------------------------------
The five sat around the coffee table, playing a board game. In the final round of the game, Angela lunged at Shayne to try and set him off his track to win. Shayne pushed her off his lap and made his final move, standing up and laughing in victory. Spencer pulled his hat down over his face and Angela let out a groan from where she layed on the floor. Amanda rolled her eyes, laughing softly.
Courtney stared at the four fondly, a wide smile on their face. Most of the guys they had brought home in the past left hating their friends, and with their friends hating them. Saying they were not good guys, or not the right match, and unfortunately, they were usually right. But they all seemed to like Shayne as much as they did and they couldn't be happier. He was different. A good different.
Amanda reached her arms out, pulling her girlfriend up off the ground and helping her back up onto the couch before standing up and rounding behind it. “Well you know what time it is. Can't leave Tommy alone for too long or he’ll start blowing up my phone.” She said, grabbing a jacket before walking back to place a soft peck on Angelas lips, which the smaller girl smiled into. “It was nice to meet you, Shayne! Come back some time, okay?” She gave Shayne a quick hug around his shoulders before blowing Courtney a kiss and turning to leave.
“Wow, nothing for me? I see how it is.” Spencer said dramatically. “I'll bring Tommy home tonight after work for you, how does that sound?” Spencer sunk into the couch, his face heating up as Angela laughed at him. Amanda waved a final goodbye and shut the door behind her.
“Tommy?” Shayne questioned, turning to face Courtney. “He works at a bar with Amanda, Smosh, I've known him since college. You've definitely heard of him.” “He sounds familiar.” “If you have any more questions, Spencer is very familiar with Tommy.” Angela said giggling to herself as Spencer buried his face in his hands, attempting to hide his embarrassment.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Amanda leaned her back up against the counter, rambling on, as Tommy dried a set of whiskey glasses alongside her. “And then Angela took out monopoly, you know, as she does, her and her little tests, but then Shayne just sat down! Even challenged her! And you know how Angela is.” Tommy let out a soft hum of acknowledgment.
“Well now I pretty much know what Angela thinks about him, but what about everyone else?” “Well I thought he was great! He looked great next to Court and was super funny. Also laughed at most of my jokes so.. A keeper in my books.” “And what about, um, Spencer? What did he think?” “I should have known.” Amanda said, turning around to bend over the counter and rest on her forearms, a smirk on her face. “I think he liked him. Shayne laughed at his jokes, but Spencer laughed at his too, so I think he liked him. He got pretty competitive with Shayne, warmed up to him quickly from what I've seen Spencer-wise.” Tommy just smiled to himself as Amanda leaned back to fully stand as he set the final glass into its place.
“I'm going to flip the sign. Are we all good?” Tommy noded and Amanda sent him a wide smile. “Also, would you want to come over to the apartment after we get off?” “Of course I would.” “Of course you would.”
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Angela layed on her back in bed, awake a lot later than she usually was. She had meant to clean up their room before Amanda came back, but she had made a new friend and that was enough for today.
She liked Shayne, really did, he was funny and kind and nice to Court. That was all she ever wanted, no, expected for one of her best friends. Courtney had pretty bad luck in the past with partners, and Angela seemed to have some kind of radar when it came to identifying men who were… like that. Suppose that's why she likes women. Like Amanda, who was gorgeous and everything she could have ever asked for. Tall with tan skin and dark hair and-
Angela shook her head to clear her thoughts and brought her mind back to Shayne. Shayne. He was blonde, buff, and a bit older than her. Also, unfortunately, very good at games. He even gave Spencer a challenge, who usually swept the floor with everyone. He was nice to be around, very assuring and supportive of others and held a confidence about himself. She felt comfortable to be herself around him.
Angela heard the front door to the apartment open and immediately sat up and exited her bedroom to greet her girlfriend.
Amanda was facing the front door, talking to Tommy. Angela walked up and hugged her from behind, burying her face in Amandas back. Amanda giggled and rolled her eyes towards Tommy with a smile on her face. She turned around and wrapped Angela in a hug. “Baby, why didn't you go to bed? You're usually asleep by now.” “Too many thoughts.” She mumbled into her girlfriend's embrace.
“I'm gonna go see if Spencer's up.” Tommy said, moving towards Spencer's room. “You know he is.” Amanda replied as Tommy waved goodnight to the couple. “Let's get you to bed.” Amanda said, pressing a kiss onto Angelas hair. --------------------------------------------------------------------
Tommy stood in the kitchen, eggs frying in a pan and coffee brewing. He always cooked something for the crew when he spent the night, his own little way of repaying them. Courtney came out of their room, still in pajamas, not long after. They grabbed themselves a cup of coffee before sitting down at the table. “Good morning Tommy.” They yawned. “Morning Court.” They let themselves sit in the busy silence of the kitchen.
After letting themselves adjust to the morning air, Courtney ran their hands through their hair. “Everyone got to meet Shayne yesterday,” Tommy nodded, “I plan on bringing him by the bar one day when you and Amanda are working.” “That would be great! I really want to meet this new guy that's got even Ange raving about him. And not in a bad way.” “Yeah he's pretty great.” A yawn came from the apartment behind him and out came Spencer, still weary with sleep. “Morning guys.” “Morning Spence.” “Good morning! I made you all some food.” Tommy said, sliding a plate of eggs to Spencer's usual stop at the table. “Tommy, you might just be my favorite person ever.” Tommy smiled before turning to pour himself a cup of coffee. He grabbed a Mountain Dew Kickstart from the fridge, placing it in front of Spencer as he sat down.
A few minutes of aimless chatter later, there was a sound from the front door. Amanda unlocked it, returning from the run she took every morning. “Morning everyone!” She said, still breathing slightly heavier than usual and with a smile too big for the early hours of the day.
“I seriously dont get how you are so active in the morning, Manda.” Spencer said, taking another sip of his drink. “Gotta start off somehow!” She said walking past the kitchen towards her bedroom. “Time to go wake sleeping beauty. I'll be back in a few minutes. Thank you for the food Tommy!” “Anytime.” She opened the door and disappeared into her room.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
The bar hadn't been very busy that night, calm even. Ian had gone home, leaving just Anthony, and Amanda was about to start her break. As Tommy stood there, a man walked up to the bar and ordered a cocktail that he started making, moving off instinct. He handed it to the man, who thanked him. Fast as lightning, Amanda flipped around from where she had been leaving and nearly ran up to the man on the other side of the bar.
“Oh my gosh Shayne! How've you been!” Tommy watched as Amanda reached to hug over the bar. “It's been like two weeks since I've seen you! This is great! I'm about to go on my break, you here with anyone?” Shayne shook his head and smiled at her. “No! It's nice to see you too Amanda.” “Would you want to talk for a bit? Catch up?” “Sure.” “Oh! By the way! This is Tommy! We talked about him for a minute if I'm not wrong.” Tommy waved hi before returning to the customer he was with. “Alright, I'm gonna take my break Tommy!” “Sounds good Mandy! See you back here in 30.” Amanda gave him a quick peck on the cheek on her way around the bar to go join Shayne. “Alright! Let's find a place to sit!” She said with a big smile.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Amanda and Shayne laughed, a hand of hers resting on his forearm before she swatted it, leaning back into her seat. He looked at her with a look of confusion. “Right in this bar? Both of them asked you out?” “I'm serious! Ask Tommy, he was there when it happened!” “I believe you, that's just crazy. And you didn't go out with either of them?” “The dad once, but then I realized it wasn't for me. I met Angela not long after anyway, so no regrets.”
“How'd you end up with her anyway? You two seem so different. Not in a bad way, you're clearly perfect for eachother. But still.” “It's a really long story, and I only have five minutes left on my break.” She said with a small frown. “But we have to do this again though! You're so fun!” “We should. I really want to get to know Courtneys friends more. I love seeing them smile, and they're so happy around you guys.” “Shayne you're so sweet! You just keep proving yourself better and better for our Court.” Shayne smiled and folded his hands together.
“Alright well time for me to get back, you want a refill?” Shayne looked down and his now empty glass and back up at Amanda and smiled. “No I'm good, I'm probably going to head home.” “Alright! I'll see you around then, bye Shayne!” “Bye Amanda.”
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Amanda, Angela, and Spencer found themselves on the couch in the living room. This was a usual late morning activity for them, with Amanda and Angela cuddled up and Spencer sitting not too far from them. They usually watched whatever was on cable, and this time it was some sort of nature documentary.
Not looking away from the tv, Spencer asked, “Would you shoot a bug for your girlfriend?” “Yeah.” “Yeah.” Angela and Amanda responded. “Would you shoot your girlfriend for a bug?” “No.” “No,” Angela paused for a second, “unless that bug was a really great bug.” She said looking up at Amanda with a slight grin. Amanda playfully rolled her eyes. “Nice.” “Real smooth Ange.” Spencer added playfully.
“Guys I just finished cooking dinner, give me a break.” Angela said, burying her head into Amanda's chest, who rubbed her back. “Thank you honey. You know everyone appreciates and loves your cooking.”
Amanda's phone rang and she reached around Angela to pick it up. “Hey Court!” She paused for a minute, then nodded. “For sure. See you then!” Amanda hung up, pulling away from Angela gently as she stood up. “Courtneys going to be here with Shayne in 20ish, she said to make sure we're all ready. I'm going to finish my makeup if youre all good babe?” “Yup! All set. I'll just go check on the lasagna.” Angela got up and pulled Amanda down for a quick kiss before moving to the kitchen.
Spencer got up and followed her, pulling two extra chairs up to the table on his way over. He sat down and rested his head on one of his hands, watching his cousin move around the kitchen like it was second nature. Which it probably was at this point.
“Chanse isn’t coming till after dinner, he has a date or something I think.” She said, pulling the pan out of the oven. “Cool.” Spencer said, standing up to set the table, feeling a need to make himself useful.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
They all sat around the table, a bit squished together but full of laughter and warm food.
Shayne finished another bite before clearing his throat, “Angela, I'm not kidding. That might be the best lasagna I've ever had.” Angela laughed, brushing off the compliment, but Amanda had no problem helping her accept it. “I know! Isn't she just the best?” She kissed her on the side of the head. Tommy spoke up, swallowing the final bite of his food. “Alright you two. We know you're in love, but I'm curious about Shayne and Court over here. How did this happen?” He waved his fork in the direction of the two. Shayne looked at Courtney who just giggled and hid their smile behind their hand. He smiled back at them.
“It's a funny story actually. We met each other at a gym.” Spencer and Angela both let out a soft groan. “Why does that make total sense?” “Ange, honey, shh.” Amanda hushed, laying a hand on Angela's forearm, which quieted her down near immediately.
Shayne smiled at them before continuing, “Well, uh so I had gone later in the day then I usually do, I normally get up early and use it to wake myself up. But that morning had just been busy, so I was there at the same time Courtney was.” Shaynes face got redder and he rubbed a hand behind his neck. “Well so we had both been heading somewhere at the same time and I bumped into them, spilling my water all over their shirt.” Angela bursted out laughing, Courtney giggled, and Amanda just shook her head with a smile.
“I felt terrible of course and apologized relentlessly, but because Courtney’s Courtney, they insisted it was fine. I wanted to make it up to them, so, uh, without thinking I took off my shirt and told them to give me theirs.” “Right to it huh.” “Spencer!” Amanda scolded. Shayne just laughed, a bit more nervous. “Yeah, obviously they were super confused but I had barely started my session so my shirt was dry, and I wanted to dry their shirt and give it back. Which I explained. They said it was fine and not to bother.” Shayne paused. “And then asked me if I was single.”
--------------------------------------------------------------------
The six sat in the apartment's living room, buzzing with a mix of cheap wine and beer. All spread out around the coffee table on a mix of the floor, the sofa and chairs, playing some random board game Spencer had in his closet.
Suddenly the door opened, and Shayne was quick to move towards Courtney before a voice wined out through the apartment. “Angela!” Chanse cried, making his way to the sofa and laying his body across Amandas to land in Angela's lap. “God, I hate guys! Men suck. I never want to go on a date with a man ever again.” “Maybe you should try dating a woman.” Angela joked, leaning in towards Chanse slowly for a dramatic kiss. “Ew! Angela!” He yelled, falling off both their laps. He landed on the ground and looked up to find Shaynes eyes.
“Oh uh hey man. Are you Shayne?” “Yup.” “I'm Chanse.” Shayne nodded and Chanse stood up making his way to sit next to Amanda, in between her and Tommy. “Ugh Tommy, maybe we should just date each other. We're both single, we're both hot, we're both gay.” Spencer looked back and forth between the two boys, trying to not be too obvious but was terrible at hiding it. He looked nervous, which Angela immediately picked up on, changing the subject.
“Alright you two can gay it up later,” She said. Chanse made a sharp turn towards her, and Spencer's face relaxed. “Angela you literally have a girlfriend! You cannot talk.” “What does that even mean? You're just jealous!” “Of your girl love? Ew! No bitch!”
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Shayne laid in a bed that wasn't his own with his girlfriend asleep on his chest while he rubbed their back. They had stayed up so late that it didn't make sense for Shayne to drive home, so Courtney invited him to stay the night. And of course, he accepted.
That first night he had been really worried about meeting Courtneys friends. They were clearly such a big part of their life and Shayne couldn't imagine what he would do if they didn't like him. He had heard of all of them before, and knew some surface level stuff, but now that he had met them he felt like he actually knew the group. He really liked them. He wanted to get to know them more and understand them. He wanted them to like him as much as he had come to like them.
He had known that Angela and Amanda were dating, and that was easy to pick up on when he first met them. What he did not know, however, was that Angela had a habit of picking at the skin around her nails. He also had not known that it was second nature for Amanda to slip off whatever kind of jewelry she had on and give it to Angela to fidget with instead. That Angela was a fantastic cook and Amanda had seen almost every movie ever.
He knew that Spencer was a bit of a gamer. What he didn't know was that the man had an extensive knowledge of every game Shayne could think of. And he knew that Tommy came around pretty often, but he didn't realize that he was a piece of the group's dynamic that made them feel even more complete then when he wasn't there. He knew less about Chanse, that he was Angela's best friend and everyone loved him, but he hadn't realized how charismatic the man was and how he brought out some weirdly more confident, straightforward version of Angela.
And of course, Shayne knew Courtney loved these people, but he hadn't known the extent of that love. They brought out a side of Courtney he had never seen. One that functioned in a family dynamic and fit as their own perfect puzzle piece. Shayne saw a certain smile and look from Courtney he had never seen before. One of fondness and pride, and more often than not a bit of concern.
Courtney loved these people, and he hasn't said it yet, but seeing them around their friends, their family, Shayne realized just how much he loved Courtney.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Spencer woke up with a comfortable weight next to him. He realized Tommy had taken his advice and stayed the night. A small smile found itself on his face as he closed his eyes and quickly fell back asleep.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Amanda woke up later than usual, which made sense, since she had a glass of wine or two last night. Angela was curled up in her arms, fast asleep, and Amanda nuzzled into the woman's shoulder, taking a deep breath.
God, she really needed to help Tommy figure out his thing with Spencer. How could he not want this? Of course, she realized that their relationships wouldn't be exactly the same, but still! They would also be similar in so many ways that Amanda didn't understand how he didn't jump onto Spencer. This was all she could ever ask for.
Amanda pulled Angela closer to her chest gently and the other woman let out a soft sigh and cuddled into her. Amanda smiled at her, placed a kiss on her forehead, then rested her chin on the girl's head and tried to fall back asleep.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Chanse woke up with the sun of his face, a bit confused where he was. He sat up and realized he had fallen asleep on the couch in Angelas apartment. He groaned and layed back down.
“Morning Chanse.” He sat up again and found Shayne sitting at the kitchen table with a cup of coffee. Chanse got up and dragged his feet over to the kitchen, pouring his own cup.
“Morning. You spent the night too?” “I think everyone did.” “Tommy?” “Yeah, uh I think he went into Spencer's room last night.” Chanse tsked and took a sip of his coffee. “Oblivious gays, huh?” “Sure man.” Chanse nodded and sat down. “You and Court are super cute by the way. You are exactly the kind of guy I pictured for them.” Shaynes face flushed a bit. “Really?” “Oh yeah, smart, emotionally intelligent, likes working out. And most importantly you get along with their friends.” “They have a great group, everyone clearly means so much to them and I understand why.” Chanse just let out a small laugh and Shayne looked at him with confusion.
“It's nothing. I'm just really glad you like everyone. They can be a bit… much. Sometimes.” “It's nice. How close you all are though.” Chanse smiled at him and Courtney came out of the bathroom, drying their hair with a towel.
“Alright Shayne! Ready to go?” “Whenever you are.” “Ok, perfect, give me five minutes! Morning Chanse!” “Morning Court.”
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Angela banged on the bathroom door. “Dammit Spence! Get your butt out of the bathroom!” “Calm down, I'm blow drying!” Called a voice from the other side of the door. “Blow Drying what? You have no hair!” Amanda came in, carrying a load of clean laundry and placing it on the kitchen table. “What's going on?” “My cousin has been in there for over an hour. I can't believe it. Waiting for a bathroom like this? I feel like I'm sixteen all over again sometimes. Stuck in a crowded college dorm.” She crosses her arms with a huff. “Well you're not sixteen, you're both adults now,” Amanda started, getting cut off by Angela pounding on the door again. “Get out you doofus!” Amanda sighed, started to fold the clothes in front of her. “Or, you know, he's rubber, you're glue.”
Spencer came out of the bathroom and posed, showing off his hair to Angela. “All yours.” “I hoped you cleaned your stupid hair out of the drain.” She said, hands on her hips. Spencer mocked her in a high pitched voice, “I hope you cleaned your hair out of the drain.” “Shut up!” “Shut up!” He mimicked again. Angela stepped towards him, “Cut it out!” “Meh meh meh!”
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Chanse rang the buzzer in the lobby, waiting for anyone to answer. He and Angela had a practice today, the first one for a new show they were both in. He offered to give her a ride. Amanda had work and they both had to be there, so why not go together.
He had offered, and now regretted his kindness. He had been sitting in his car for 10 minutes waiting for her to come down before heading into the lobby. He rang and was lucky as Spencer answered the buzz. He made his way up, thanked Spencer and headed towards Angela's room.
“Angela! Get up bitch! We have practice.” He waited a few seconds before groaning and opening the door. He saw her still asleep in bed, and sighed. He rounded to the side nearest to her and shook her, not bothering to be too gentle.
She groaned and opened her eyes, “Chanse? What the hell?” “‘What the hell?’ Don't what the hell me! We have practice in 20 minutes!” “Oh shit,” She scrambled out of bed and struggled to get her clothes off. He threw what looked like a clean shirt at her. “Angela, come on!” “Be a little more gentle!”
He left the room and found Spencer sitting on the couch, playing some kind of video game on the tv. “Hey Spencer.” “Hey Chanse. Angela?” “Late as ever.” Spencer laughed lightly as Angela burst out of her room. “Ok! Ok! I'm ready.” She moved to the kitchen and grabbed a granola bar and her tote bag, swinging it over her shoulder. “Shit.” “You are so lucky I love you. Coffee’s in the car.” “Chanse you are literally my savior. Bye Spence!” “I know. Bye Spencer.” “Bye guys. Have fun.”
--------------------------------------------------------------------
“Ok, try this alfredo sauce.” Angela said, pressing a wooden spoon in front of Spencer's face. “Mm. Good.” “Yeah? Is it better than the other sauce?” He licked his lips and thought for a second. “It's creamier.” “Yeah? Well, is that better?” “I don't know we're talking about cream sauce Angela.” She groaned and turned back to her pot. “Sometimes I really don't understand how we are related.”
“Courtney!” Angela yelped as they came in through the front door. “Try this sauce for me.” Courtney took a taste and their eyes widened. “Ange this is really good!” “Yeah? Did you try the sauce I made last week?” “I don't think so.” She groaned louder than before and turned back to the stove with a huff.
Courtney looked at Spencer who just shrugged his shoulders.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
“Hey there handsome.” Tommy was used to flirts at the bar, usually women and the occasional older man. He ignored the person and turned to his next customer.
“Can I get a drink here bartender?” The same voice said, and Tommy let out a soft sigh through his nose. He turned to the man and was surprised to see a very handsome man, who looked not much older than him, waiting with a smile. Tommy cocked his head to the side and nodded, smiling back.
He gave the man his drink, and handed him a receipt. A few minutes later, when he swung back around to collect the bar's copy, he found a phone number waiting for him. He slipped the receipt into his pocket and went on with his shift.
Later when he got home, he pulled the paper out of his pocket and stared at it. He thought of Spencer before shaking his head and opened messages.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
“Then I was thinking maybe you could come over? Angelas trying some new recipe again,” “I'm sorry Amanda, I can't that night.” Amanda paused wiping the bar counter and turned to Tommy, a smug look on her face. “What? You got a hot date?” “Yes. Actually, I do.” Amanda's face dropped to shock before she broke into a huge smile.
“No! Way! Who is it? Would I know him? Why didn't you tell me sooner? How didn't I know?” “Because it's new! He was here Wednesday night,” “Here!” “And now we're set for Friday night.” “Tommy, this is fantastic! I'm so happy for you! Can I tell Ange?” “Well if you know she does.” She pulled Tommy into a big hug, flashing him a large smile before going back to wiping the bar.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Courtney sat cross legged on a carpet. The building they were in was familiar, but the room was different. Shaynes best friend, Damien, had just moved a few floors below them and had asked for some help moving in. Shayne was quick to offer a hand, and Courtney was excited to follow suit. They had met Damien a few times before, and he seemed like a good guy. He was kind of shy at first, but once he opened up was funny and kind of a nerd. In a charming way of course.
“So I'm supposed to attach a brackety thing to the side things, using a bunch of these little worm guys.” Damien paused and blinked intensely, looking around for a second. “I have no brackety things. I see no worm guys whatsoever. And I cannot feel my legs.” He continued, standing up and raising his arms over his head to stretch.
Courtney picked up a small metal piece they found on the floor next to the shelf they were working on and held it up for Shayne to see. “What's this?” “I have no idea.” They looked at the shelf in front of them for a second before looking back at each other. “Done with the bookcase!” “All finished!” --------------------------------------------------------------------
Tommy was sitting on the couch next to Angela and Spencer, waiting for Amanda to come back from the store. They had a meeting with Ian to meet someone. There was a new boy working waitstaff for the bar and Ian wanted them to meet before their shift started.
The front door opened and Amanda walked in, hanging her purse on the hook and moving towards the living room. “Hi honey.” She said coming around the back of the couch to behind Angela. Tommy glanced towards her then back to the Tv. “Hi sweetums.” Amanda rolled her eyes with a smile and placed a peck on her girlfriend's cheek. “And hello to the rest.” Angela giggled as Amanda made her way around to the front of the couch.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
“Alright you guys. This is Trevor.” The tall boy nodded with a wave. Amanda flashed him a big smile that Tommy mirrored, waving back at him.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Shayne sat at a table, an arm around Courtney, Spencer sat on the other side of him. They had all gone out for drinks and Shayne had decided to invite Damien to join them after asking Courtney if they thought it was a good idea. They of course agreed, and now all Shayne had to do was make sure he was comfortable with everyone.
He knew about Damiens anxiety and wanted to make sure tonight went great. He loved this group, and had been around long enough that he considered himself more than just Courtneys boyfriend, but a part of the family. They were good people and he really wanted Damien to get along with them.
He looked around and his eyes landed on Courtney, who was talking across him, having a conversation with Spencer. He looked up to find Angela flirting loudly at Amanda from the other side of the bar. The taller woman was leaning into it but continuing to serve her patrons, while Tommy teased her, saying she should “go for it”.
Next to Angela, stood Chanse, who was hitting on a guy he'd never seen before. Shayne watched him place a hand on the man's arm, as his charms worked their magic.
He looked to his left to see Trevor, a host they had become friends with, leading Damien through the crowd. Shayne smiled and waved.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
It was Angela's turn for pictionary. She had drawn a rough looking triangle, and after two minutes, no one could get it. They all sat, stunned and confused. Going out on a final limb, Tommy tried, “Pizza?” “Taco.” Angela said shyly with a giggle. Tommy stood up from the couch and walked around it. Chanse put his head in his hands and Damien stared at her with a gaping mouth. “You're beyond help.” Chimed Spencer, who looked exasperated, leaning back into the cushions. “We can't help you anymore Angela. Nobody wins.” Angela laughed, “What! I win!” Chanse chuckled in disbelief. “How. How did you win.” He followed with an eye roll “When I tell you- you draw a taco!” “Done.” Said Damien, standing up to take the marker from her as Tommy wheezed.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Chanse sat on the couch with Courtney and Angela. “What… feat do you feel like you could outsmart if it came to you that other people couldn't. So like, for example, I don't think I can get hit by a car.” Angela immediately broke into laughter, but Courtney considered it. “That's your honest opinion?” “That's incredible!” “I think if I saw a car coming towards me, I would be able to jump and run on top of the car, or jump and roll. Like all I have to do is get one foot on the top,” “Just one foot.” Angela copied. “If i can get one foot I can launch myself.” “No, just because you go to the gym doesn't mean you can't get hit by a car.”
Courtney looked at Angela, face scrunched in confusion, before making their own comment. “I can't jump over a car, but I can kick both of you in the head.” They said. There was a pause before all three broke out into giggles.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Angela placed down the spray bottle she held in her hand. “Ok! Windows are clean, candles are lit. Oh belts too tight got to change the belt.” She tossed the belt onto the couch next to Spencer as she made her way to the kitchen.
“Did I turn the fish?” She said to herself, opening the oven. “Nope, because I made mostaccioli.” She rested her head in her hands for a second before standing up straight and turning to Spencer. “Am I out of control?”
“Just a touch. Ange, I don't understand. You've been dating this girl for almost three years. How are you still so,” he paused and waved his hands in the air.
“Because I love her very much, Spencer, and we haven't had a date in the house, just the two of us, in like 6 months. Now if you wouldn't mind.” She nodded towards the front door. “Yeah yeah I got it. Have fun. Save me any leftovers.” “Thanks Spence. Will do.” She smiled at her cousin as he made his way out the front door, leaving her to finish prepping her date.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
“Come on, I'm not saying it was a bad movie. I'm just saying it was a little hard to follow.” Amanda giggled and pulled Angela closer to her on the couch. “And I told you there were going to be subtitles.” “I know, I just didn't want to wear my glasses on our date.” “Ohh.” Amanda nodded, pulling Angela in for a kiss.
“Spencer?” She called out against Angelas lips. Angela pulled back and placed a hand on Amanda's chest. “It would really help, when we’re kissing, if you wouldn't shout out my cousin's name.” Amanda tucked a piece of hair behind Angela's ear with a smile. “I'm just checking.” “I already made sure he was out.” Amanda breathed out a laugh before pulling her girlfriend back in.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Courtney came in through the front door of their apartment to find Spencer, Shayne, and Damien on the couch facing the TV. “Hey guys.” The boys did not respond. “Guys?” “I thought you were going to be gone all day.” Spencer said, still not turning around. “Alright. What's going on.”
The three all turned around at the same time to face the front door where Courtney stood, revealing the matching face masks they were wearing. Court smiled, “Sorry! I'm sorry. I should probably leave you girls alone.” “Yeah, laugh all you want.” Started Damien, “but in ten minutes we're going to have younger looking skin.” Courtney just laughed and made their way to their bedroom.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
“Aw Spence. You're so great!” Tommy ruffled Spencer's hair as he stood up to go find Amanda. Spencer blushed and giggled to himself, smiling and standing up, walking past Angela who was sitting sideways in an armchair.
“It's never gonna happen.” She said with a slight frown. Spencer paused, and his smile dropped a tiny bit. He laughed, “What?” “You and Tommy.” Spencer scoffed a bit, not dropping his smile. “Pfs, hah, me and? What? No. Haha.” He paused, licking his lips and looking down for a second. “Why not?” “Because you waited too long to make your move, and now you're in the friendzone.” Angela said, shifting to sit in the seat normally. “No no, I'm not in the zone.” “Spence. You're the mayor of the zone.” “Look, I'm taking my time, alright. I'm laying it down. Yeah. I mean every day I get just a little bit closer to uh-”
“Priesthood!” Angela cut him off, “Look, Spencer, I'm telling you, he has no idea what you're thinking. And if you don't ask him out soon, you're going to end up stuck in the zone, forever!” “I will, I will! I'm just, see, I'm waiting for the right moment.” Angela looked at him and sighed.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Shayne sat in Damiens apartment, next to him on the couch. They had gotten together to watch a movie, but it ended up with them just sitting and catching up, which hadn't happened in a while.
“I'm so glad you like everybody though man. I mean, I figured you would. But seeing you so happy and social makes me feel great.” “Yeah, thank you man. I mean, I really can't thank you enough for introducing me to these… characters.” They both laughed but Damien doubled down. “I mean it! Angelas kind of crazy sometimes, but I just want to make her laugh. And Amanda’s so kind and understanding.”
Shaynes' smile melted into a genuine grin as he watched his best friend get lost in his thoughts.
“Chanse is so funny, and I never would have guessed how big of a nerd he is. And Spencer! We've talked about games for hours, non-stop.” He paused and blinked harshly. “I guess I'm just saying they're great people. And I really like being around them.”
Shaynes' smile grew as he gave Damein a pat on the knee, knowing exactly what he was talking about.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
“Hey! Hello!” Tommy came in and gave Amanda a side hug. “Charlie, this is my best friend, Amanda. This is Angela, Courtney, Shayne, and Spencer. Everyone,” he walked back around the table and stood next to the man and took his hand, “this is Charlie.” Forms of greeting spread through the room. “Hi!” He said.
“Well, this is amazing!” Amanda started. “I mean how,” she turned towards Spencer for a second, “how did this happen?” She said with a smile. “Well, Tommy and I went to college together.” Charlie started. “But we haven't seen each other since then.” Tommy continued, “Well, im working the bar and guess who slides me their number?” “Charlie!” Spencer said, having moved to pour himself a drink, “well isn't that just great! Isn't that just spit on your neck fantastic.” He took a large sip and Tommy looked at him with a pressed face, looking away when Charlie took his hand.
“It's an expression!” Angela tried, moving over to throw an arm around Spencer as the others gave various forms of agreement.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
“How are you doing?” Courtney said, moving to sit next to Spencer on the couch. “I'm ok.” He said with a sigh and a light smile. “Oh that bad huh.” “What?” “Look, Spencer, I can sense when men are depressed and vulnerable. It's one of my gifts.” They said with a giggle, trying to lift Spencer's spirits. He sighed heavier and leaned back. “Court when I saw them walk in together, I really thought I just hit rock bottom. But now? It's like there's rock bottom, 50 feet of crap, then me.”
“You have to tell Tommy how you feel.” They said, “Oh come on. How can I just tell him? What about Charlie?” “What about him? They've only been going out for two weeks. Tommy has been in love with you for like two years.” “I don't know, I don't know,” “Look, Spence. I've been with my share of men. In fact I've been with a lot of peoples share of men.” They said with a disgusted eye roll. “But I've never felt about anyone the way Tommy felt about you. Well. Until now, but that's beside the point.” Spencer smiled at them, “Thanks Court.”
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Amanda sat on the couch with Angela and Spencer. They were watching some movie Spencer had picked out and were providing their own commentary. A wine bottle was shown on screen and Spencer read the name out, “Sanguinis Virginis.” “Sanguinis Wenis.” Angela pitched, giggling softly, getting louder as the seconds passed.
Amanda glanced at her out of concern as Angelas giggles became full belly laughs. “You are a little boy.” Amanda said, rolling her eyes lightly “Shes gonna fucking loose it.” Angela just laughed harder, turning to face away from the two of them. “It only took, uh,” Spencer paused the movie. “It only took an hour and 29 minutes.” “I cant believe that got you. Oh my god, youre sobbing. And I can't remember what was said.” Angela sat up and wiped her eyes. “Sanguinis Wenis.” Spencer said, over pronouncing each syllable, causing Angela, who had started to calm down, to double over. “Holy shit.” Amanda said, turning to Spencer. “That means nothing I've ever said has made her laugh, if this has gotten her so bad.”
Angela paused, stuttering in a breath and wiping her eyes again before breaking down even more. Amanda looked back and forth from her girlfriend to her cousin with wide eyes as he began to chuckle. “Are you good bro? Do you need something?” He asked with a smile. “I dont think you've laughed this hard in a minute, babe. What is this? Am I not funny?” Amanda asked sarcastically with a large smile. Angela calmed her breathing. “No, no you're a comedian my baby. My baby’s a comedian. ” She said, still plagued with giggles. --------------------------------------------------------------------
Spencer had gone out with Angela to a bar for a few drinks. She had hoped it would help him get over Tommy, but it seemed to be doing the opposite. “Look, trust me Spence, you're gonna be fine. You just can't see it now because you haven't had any closure.”
Spencer stopped mid sip and placed his drink down. “Closure. That's what it is! That's what I need. Why didn't I think of that? How do I get it?” He folded his arms on the table and looked at Angela.
“Well. There's no one way. I mean, I guess it's just whatever it takes so you can finally say to him, ‘i'm over you.’” She looked at him as he thought it over, before speaking up again. “Ok, i'm gonna run to the bathroom real quick. You'll be ok?” Spencer nodded and waved her off as he thought about it.
“Boom. That's what it is. Closure.” He pulled out his phone, dialed Tommy's number and let it ring till it went to voicemail. “Tommy? Hi. It's Spencer. I'm just calling to say that um, everythings fine, and I'm really happy for you and Charlie. Obviously, I am over you. I. Am over. You. And that, my friend, is what they call closure.”
Spencer hung up the phone as Angela returned to the table. “Who was that?” “Tommy.” “Oh?” Angela raised an eyebrow with a concerned look on her face. “And what did he want?” “No, no Ange. I called him. Left him a little closure.” Angelas eyes widened, sighing as she finished off her wine.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
“Hey Spence!” Tommy said, entering the apartment with a smile. “How was your night?” Spencer groaned, picking his head up off the table where it had been resting. “I think there was a bar. I know there were drinks.” “Wow, uh, well Charlie's down stairs getting an uber I just left my jacket up here. Did Amanda say-” He looked over to find Spencer staring at him with a curious expression. “What? Why are you looking at me like that?” Tommy said with a laugh. Spencer cleared his throat, “I don't know, I feel like I had a dream about you last night. I don't remember.” Tommy stared at him for a second. “Ok. Oh!” He moved to the couch where he noticed his jacket was.
“Did we talk on the phone last night?” Spencer asked, standing up, “Did you call me?” “No. I stayed at Charlies last night. Actually, I haven't even checked my phone yet.” He said, pulling his phone out of his pocket. “I can check real qucik.” Spencer nodded , moving towards his bedroom. “Oh Spencer I have a message from you!” He said, phone against his ear. Spencer came back out of his room, eyes wide. “Oh my god.” He said. “Oh my god, Tommy, no, hang up the phone.” He moved quickly towards Tommy in the kitchen. Tommy froze and lowered the phone down, and Spencer stopped where he was.
“You're over me?” He asked, putting the phone on the counter. “Oh god.” Spencer ran his hands over his face. “You're- uh. You're over me?” Tommy asked again, still not moving. Spencer moved to the couch and sat down. “Spence. Spencer, do you. I mean, were you. What?” Spencer groaned. “Ok. Ok ok, well, basically, I've sort of had feelings for you.” He said, folding his hand on his lap, fidgeting with his fingers. Tommy sighed. “You've had feelings for me?” “Yeah but now you have Charlie.” “Charlie! Thats. Oh god.” Tommy said, turning to face the front door then back to Spencer. “Charlie. Right. Ok, I need to lie down.” Spencer stood up from the couch. “No, I'm going to stand. I'm going to walk. I'm standing and I'm walking, ok. So you uh, and now, and now you. Now you're over me?” He moved back to come face to face with Spencer, who looked up at him. “Are you over me?”
The two were quiet for a second when the buzzer to the apartment rang. “Thats- thats Charlie.” He moved towards the front door, and Spencer followed a few steps behind. “Wait, so, you're going?” “Well, ok, so I have to. I can't deal with this right now. I mean I've got an uber, I've got a boyfriend.” “Ok, ok.” Spencer said softly, nodding. Tommy opened the front door and walked out of it, glancing behind himself at Spencer, then shutting the door.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Spencer was locking up the record shop. He had let Alex go home early for his anniversary, and was putting a new vinyl on the wall, when the front door opened. It was Tommy. “You know, you had no right to tell me you ever had feelings for me.” “What?” He said, placing down the record he had in his hands.
“I was doing great with Charlie before I found out about you.” “I was doing great before Charlie. You think it's easy for me to see you with him?” “Well then you should have said something before I met him.” “There just- there was never a good time!” “Right, because you've only had years! And we've only hung out every night. “Not, not every night. And it's not like I didn't try, Tommy! But, you know, things got in the way!” “I don't need this right now. It's too late. I'm with somebody else. I'm happy! This ship has sailed.” “Alright, fine Tommy. You go ahead and do that.” Spencer said, pointing to the door of the record shop, causing Tommy to turn and walk towards it. “I don't need your stupid shit.” “Good.” “Good!” Tommy walked out and Spencer locked the door behind him.
He walked back to the counter with a huff, before leaning against it and burying his head in his hands. It was barely a minute when he heard a soft knock against the window of the shop door. Spencer looked up to see Tommy standing there. He sighed and moved slowly to unlock it. They stared at each other for a second before Tommy moved in and pulled Spencer in for a kiss, which he longingly leaned into.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Tommy knocked on Damiens apartment door and heard a voice call, “It's open!” From inside. He opened to find Shayne, Spencer, and Damein in his apartment. “Hey, I was wondering-” he paused when he noticed Spencer and shut the door behind him. “Hi.” “Hi.” Tommy had his coat and shoes on and Spencer couldn't help but ask, “Where are you going?” “Actually, I just got back.” He slipped his coat off and folded it over his arm. “From Charlies.” “Oh.” Spencer said, looking down at his feet. “No! No, it's not what you think. I broke up with him.”
Shayne and Damien looked at each other before looking at Spencer, who sat there with his mouth open. “Get up man.” Shayne said, shoving Spencer's shoulder in the direction of Tommy. He stood up and moved towards him. “Really?” “Really. It's always been you Spence.” Spencer moved to wrap his arms around Tommys waist in a hug the man leaned into.
“Aww” Damein and Shayne said at the same time, pulling each other into a side hug.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
“Angela?” Shayne said out of the blue, laying the book he was reading down on the kitchen table. “Yeah?” She called back from under Amanda's arm on the couch. “Do you think you could beat me in arm wrestling?”
“Oh you can.” Amanda immediately started, hyping up her girlfriend. “That's impossible!” Angela said at the same time. “No you can, you can.” Amanda tapped Angelas shoulder before standing up and walking into the kitchen. Angela shot up, “No it's impossible!” “Ok, if you don't believe in yourself.” He called out from the table, shrugging. She moved to sit down across from him.
“No we need to do this,” Spencer called out, having just left his bedroom. He rushed to sit on the other side of Shayne as Amanda stood behind her girlfriend.
Shanye set his elbow on the table and held his hand out. Angela grabbed it and immediately pulled her hand back. “Holy shit.” She said, breaking into a sweat already.
“Hey, hey, find his weak spot.” Amanda encouraged, rubbing Angelas shoulders as she ran her hands over her face. Shayne leaned back toward Spencer, “What should I do, coach?” “Use your other hand to hit her.” Shayne immediately broke into a wheezy laugh.
-------------------------------------------------------------------They came out the doors of the theater, and Amanda ran up, wrapping her girlfriend in a hug. “Ange. That was the best show I've ever seen. You did so great!” Courtney giggled and handed a bouquet of roses to both actors. “You both did fantastic!” Shayne wrapped an arm around Courtneys shoulders and smiled. “It was really good. Thank you for inviting me!” “Of course!” Angela said as Chanse gave out hugs to the group. “Thank you all for coming, but I invited a date to the show tonight-” “Go find him!” Angela said, nudging his shoulder with her own. He gave her a hug and walked off.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Tommy and Spencer sat at the kitchen table of Spencer's apartment, eating a dinner that may or may not have been prepared for them by Angela.
“So how come you wanted to eat in tonight?” Tommy asked with a smile, as he leaned slightly forward on the table. “Because I wanted to, uh, give you this.” He handed Tommy a long box with a lid, wrapped in paper that had little martinis patterning it. “Aww. Aren't you sweet?” He said, taking the box and opening it. His face dropped a bit into confusion as he opened it. “Contact paper! You never really know what to say when someone you're sleeping with gives you contact paper.” He said with a light laugh, rolling the patchwork printed contact paper around in the box.
“But wait, there's more.” Spencer said, reaching under the table. “See the contact paper is to go in your brand new drawer.” Tommys jaw dropped in confusion and he looked up at Spencer who adjusted himself in his seat. “See, the drawer actually goes in my dresser.” Tommys face immediately softened as he placed the box inside the drawer. “Oh, you did have to do this.” “Yes I did. Yes I did.” Spencer said getting up and moving around the table to stand in front of Tommy and take his hands. “You're my boyfriend. And that's what boyfriends should get.” He finished, placing a kiss on Tommy's lips.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
“Come out babe, I'm telling you, you look good!” Shayne said into an open bedroom. “Tell them they look good. Tell them they look good.” He muttered quickly, moving to stand next to Spencer, who was sitting on the couch. Angela sat in front of the coffee table, facing the door, and Amanda sat in the arm chair, legs propped up on the table.
Courtney slowly moved out of the bedroom, a frown on her face. The dress they were wearing was huge. It was a big pink ball gown with lots of tuel. “Oh my god.” Spencer said with a laugh. “You look so good!”
“I cannot believe I have to walk down the aisle in front of a hundred people, looking like cotton candy on a stick.” They spat out. Shayne moved towards them, placing his hands on her hips. “So don't. You're the maid of honor. I'm sure if you brought it up to Brittney, you could come up with some kind of solution.”
“I don't know,” Angela giggled from the floor, “I think you look great Glinda.” Courtney glared at Angela, who crawled under Amanda's legs and sat between them.
“It'll be fine.” Shaye said, drawing Courtneys attention back to him with a smile they returned, pressing a soft kiss on their lips.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Angela and Chanse stepped out of the grocery store when Angela heard a noise. It wasn't much, just a light rustling, but it caught her attention. “Chanse. Did you hear that?” She asked moving towards the sound. “No. Come on Angela! I want to get home.” “Just a minute.” The noise happened again, and Angela hushed him, moving again. Chanse groaned and followed her.
She found the source in an alleyway, coming from a group of bags. “There!” Angela walked up to it and moved a few of them around. “Angela, come on. It's probably just a squirrel. Leave it-” He was cut off by a hushed “aww” from Angela. “Chanse! Its a dog!” “What?” He moved towards her. Indeed, there was a small, blonde chihuahua nested up in the bags. The dog blinked up at them, shaking as his tongue stuck out the side of his mouth. “Hi little guy.” Angela cooed, picking him up. “Angela, be careful. It might bite.” Chanse said, backing up a bit. “This little fella? No, you would never, would you?” She petted his head and the small dog closed its eyes.
She checked around his neck for a collar before kicking through the bags at her feet for any kind of identification. Under them, she found a flat cardboard box with the word “Spork” written on it. “Spork huh?” The dog looked up at her, “Spork it is. Do you need a home buddy?” “Uh uh.” Chanse said, pulling out his phone. “Before you do anything, we're calling Amanda. You can't just bring home a dog.” Angela sighed but knew he was right. “Yeah. But how could she say no? Look at this face.” She said, pressing a kiss on the dog's head. “Oof- Spork you need a bath buddy.”
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Damien sat at the table of Courtney's apartment as they moved around him. In front of him was a pastry and some kind of fresh jam Chanse had given them. He sighed with a smile on his face as he went to spread some of the jam on his treat. “Remember when you were a kid, and your mom would drop you off at the movies with a jar of jam and a little spoon.” Courtney looked at him with a smile on her face and sighed softly. “You're so pretty.” Damiens eyebrows scrunched up in confusion as they moved away.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
“Ange?” “Court?” Spencer and Tommy called out as they entered the apartment, Spencer placing his keys on the counter. Tommy found a note on the table. “‘Gon out for Spork wlak, back later. Ang.” He chuckled as Spencer grabbed his wrist and pulled him towards the living room. “Wait a minute, look.” “What?” “Look look look!” “What what what?” “It's an empty apartment.” He turned around and placed his hands on Tommys hips. “Ooh.” “We're all alone, in an empty apartment.” He pushed a strand of hair out of Tommys face. “Oh honey come on, I have to be at work in 10 minutes-” Spencer leaned up and started pressing kisses down Tommys jaw. “Oh, alright.” They moved and fell down onto the couch together.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Spencer followed Amanda into her apartment where they found Courtney and Shayne on the couch as Damein sat at the kitchen table. “That's so not true!” Amanda groaned as she placed a grocery bag on the counter. “I just can't believe you think you know me better than I know you.” “Well, we do.” Shayne added, lifting his arm from Courtneys shoulders as he stood up. “You have to chew two pieces of gum at a time.” He looked down towards Courtney moving into the kitchen. Spencer leaned on the counter and looked at them. “Yeah what's up with that?”
“And you. Damien, I believe if you check Amanda's bag you will find a half eaten box of cookies in there.” Damien looked between the two before standing up to peek into the bag. From it, he pulled out the box of cookies, just as Shayne had said. He grabbed one for himself. “You're good.” He took a bite and chewed it for a second. “And so are these.”
“Still not impressed. Everyone snacks when they shop.” Amanda folded her arms over her chest. “Oh yeah?” Spencer questioned, standing up and walking over to Shayne in front of the couch. “Damien, how many items left in that bag?” “Five.”
Shyne pointed to the bag. “Ok, ten bucks says we can name every item in there.” “Six guesses.” Spencer tacked on. “Challenge extended.” Damien said, picking it up and placing it on the kitchen table. “Deal!” Courtney said, holding out their hand for Shayne to shake. “Challenge accepted.” Damein added, opening the bag to look inside.
“Alright, we’ll start with..” Spencer shrugged, “apples.” Damien pulled a bag of apples out. “Yes.” “Ok, uh. Tortilla chips, yogurt..” “And LaCroix.” Shayne finished. “Yes, yes, yes.” “Orange juice-” “No!” Amanda cut Shayne off. “There's no orange juice in there, we win!” “They have another guess.” Amanda refolded her arms.
“The last thing is..” Spencer rubbed his hands together in thought. “I got it!” Shayne exclaimed. “I got it, Scotch tape.” Damein pulled the tape from the bag and Amanda sighed. “How did you know she would buy tape?” He asked, moving over to the other two guys.
“Well, we used up theirs last night making scary faces.” Shayne said with a laugh that Spencer joined in on. “Aw man.” Courtney complained.
“Alright!” Spencer started moving slowly across the kitchen towards the girls. “Ten bucks! Fork it over. Cough it up. Pay the piper.” He paused for a second and stood still. “Gimme it.”
--------------------------------------------------------------------
They sat together in the living room, their entire little group. Amanda stood in the kitchen with Tommy and Spencer, sharing an animated conversation about a creep the two had experienced at work. Amanda looked down at Spork laying at her feet before she snuck a glance over to Angela, who was sitting on the couch in a heated argument with Shayne and Trevor, who had recently begun to come over and hang out with them all.
In between Syane and Trevor were Courtney and Arasha, Trevor's girlfriend, who they had all come to love very quickly and had become best friends with Courtney.
On Angela's left was Chanse, who grabbed the girl by her arm and pulled her down onto the couch, throwing his voice into the battle. Damien sat in the arm chair, shuffling the deck of cards, rolling his eyes and laughing, adding a quip here and there.
Together they were happy, they were close, and they were family. A family that had doubled in size in the past year, but a family nonetheless.
