It started in 1992, when Tony was on a business trip in Europe. He decided he wanted to take a walk, maybe do some shopping. Tony was lonely and bored, and also kind of wanted to meet someone. He was going to be here for a few weeks, and kind of wanted his own European fling.
He entered a high and clothing store and started looking around, though he was largely uninterested. He was looking at a particular shirt, not looking where he was walking, when he bumped into someone. When he looked up, he saw grey eyes and platinum blonde hair framing a handsome, aristocratic face.
“Are you alright?” The man’s voice sent a shiver down tony’s spine. It was deep and soft, and Tony could feel himself flushing. “I’m ok.” Tony managed to stutter out, taking a deep breath. “Sorry for that, I wasn’t looking where I was going. Are you ok?” The man smirked and nodded his head.
“I am, but why don’t you take me for coffee to make up for it?” The man reached for Tony’s hand, and Tony, trying to regain hid composure, intertwined their fingers and smirked. “That sounds good, but I don’t even know your name ice prince.”
“Draco Malfoy, at your service, mr…” Draco’s voice was playful, and he looked at Tony as if he wanted to eat him up. “Stark, Tony Stark. Its a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Malfoy.”
“The pleasure is all mine, and please, call me Draco.” Draco said as he squeezed Tony’s hand and started to lead him out of the store. “I assume its your first time here Mr. Stark?” Tony nodded, gracefully following Draco.
“Yes, it is. And please call me Tony, I’m not old enough to be Mr. Stark yet.” Draco chuckled at Tony’s words and pulled him down a side street. “Well then, Tony, let me show you the best cafe around here. Its run by a very good friend of mine, and her coffee grounds are top notch.”
That would be their first coffee date, one of many over the next six weeks. Tony and Draco couldn’t seem to spend enough time together when neither of them had obligations that needed to be tended to, and they even skipped some of those obligations to spend more time together. They learned everything they could about each other, and by the end of it, Tony was sure that he was falling in love with Draco, if he wasn’t already in love. But still, there seemed to be some sort of barrier around Draco that Tony couldn’t pass through. Tony knew Draco had every right to keep his secrets, but it still felt like they would never go any further than where they were if Tony didn’t know what was causing the distance.
Eventually, it was Tony’s last day in Europe. He and Draco were cuddling on his bed, and Tony turned to Draco. “Draco, can I tell you something?” Draco smiled softly at him and kissed his forehead. “Of course, love. What is it?”
“I don’t want this to end.” Tony hurried the words out before he could change his mind. “I want to keep talking to you and learning all the little things that drive you up the wall or make you melt. I want to keep hearing your voice first thing in the morning, and as the last thing before I sleep. I’ve fallen for you very deeply, Draco, my dragon, and I don’t think I can let you go now.”
Draco smiled, though his eyes held a bit of sadness. “Then can I show you something, Tony? Its important, and I want you to know before we go any further.” Tony nodded and sat top as Draco stood and went towards his book bag. Draco pulled out what appeared to be a stick with ornate carvings, and took a deep breath.
“Lumos.” The word was whispered cautiously, and from the tip of Draco’s stick, a ball of light emerged. Tony could feel his thoughts come to a screeching halt as he stood up and approached Draco. Draco smiled at him, then whispered “Nox” and the light went out. Tony gasped, and looked at Draco in confusion.
Draco reached for tony’s hand, and when he didn’t pull away, he gripped it firmly. “Let me show you one more thing?” Tony nodded, and Draco pulled him closer. With a wave of what Tony now expected to be a wand, and the words “Expecto patronum” a ghostly dragon shot out of the wand, flying around the room and filling it with a warm sense of comfort. Tony reached out to touch it, and found that while it wasn’t incorporeal, it wasn’t entirely corporeal either.
When the dragon vanished, Tony turned to Draco with an expression somewhere between academic confusion and childlike excitement. “How did you do that?” Draco smiled in relief and pulled Tony into his side. “It was magic, and I’m a wizard.” Tony snuggled into Draco’s side and frowned. “Magic is just science we don’t understand yet. Are there others like you?” It was obvious Tony was holding back a flood of questions, so Draco guided them back to the couch to sit down while they talked.
By the time Tony had to leave the next morning, neither of them had slept a wink, but they both had agreed to become official. They would make calls every day, visit each other as often as they could, and figure out how they were going to work in the long term.

By 2003, Tony and Draco were married. Since Tony wasn’t religious and just wanted Draco to be happy, they were married in the wizarding tradition, with a bonding ceremony and a prayer to Lady Magic. After the wedding, Tony and Draco decided they would spend three months in New York, living in Tony’s penthouse, and three months in Wiltshire, living in the Malfoy Manor.
Obadiah was not happy at all about this arrangement, saying Tony was too young to be married anyways, but Tony had told him he didn’t control him an to screw off. Tony got along surprisingly well with Narcissa, though Lucius was a little harder to get the approval of. After their first three months of living in Malfoy manor, though, Tony was able to openly joke with everyone, and everyone was comfortable with him.
Draco had told Tony all about the now defeated dark lord, and showed him the dark mark before the wedding, and Tony let Draco cry into his chest when the story got hard. Tony promised Draco that he would protect him from something like that from now on, and Draco promised to protect him as well. They comforted each other about their pasts, and promised to move forward together.
Rhodey liked Draco, thankfully, and said he was good for Tony. Everyone agreed that their marriage should be on the down low in the non magical world, and Tony put a gag order on it for Obadiah, and everything went smoothly for the next couple of years.

When Tony disappeared in Afghanistan, Draco thought he was going to have a heart attack. His beloved husband was kidnapped, probably being tortured by some terrorist group, being forced to do who knows what, with out any form of protection. He stuck by Rhodey as often as possible, knowing the colonel was using all of his resources to find Tony, and his mother back home was using every bit of magic she could to find Tony, but nothing seemed to be breaking through.
When they finally found Tony, stumbling through the desert and half dead, Draco could only cry in relief as he jumped off of the aircraft and gathered his beloved in his arms, whispering comfort into his ears.
“I’m so sorry I couldn’t protect you, my heart.” Draco whispered as he helped Tony onto the aircraft, and Tony shook his head. “There was nothing you could have done Draco. I’m just glad you’re here now.” The fly back to America was heavy with silence as medics attended to Tony as best they could. Once everything was settled and it was quiet for the most part, Tony turned to Draco and told him everything.
They talked for hours about what Tony wanted to do now, and though Draco was able to talk Tony down from not fulfilling his contract with the U.S. air force, he was unable to convince him from restructuring his entire company or becoming a vigilante. When they landed, he immediately told the press of his intentions. Rhodey thanked Draco for talking Tony down from the worst political move, but Draco knew that this was only the tip of the ice berg.
Over the next several weeks, Draco helped Tony construct the Ironman suit, putting in protective runes where ever he could to make sure that Tony would never be hurt like he was again. He also managed to drag Tony to a healer that was able to successfully get rid of the shrapnel in his chest and get rid of the beginnings of heavy metal poisoning.
Everything went fine for a while, Tony successfully took out the terrorists who kept him hostage and then some, but then things started going down hill. It started with Obadiah, and then the mandarin, and then the whole thing with Loki.
Draco decided he didn’t much like Steve Rogers. He seemed much to like some particularly manipulative pureblood nobles he knew mixed with a jealous child. He could deal with Natasha, though he didn’t particularly like her either. He was ok with Clint, and he was wary but respectful towards Thor. The only person he really liked on this team of avengers was Bruce. He thought it an interesting bit of self transfiguration when he turned into the Hulk, but when he asked Bruce about it, he was told it wasn’t magic, but rather a science experiment gone wrong, and he couldn’t exactly control when he turned into the Hulk. Draco could commiserate with the feelings of helplessness when bruce was forced to act against his will by another, but encouraged him to try and get along with the more monstrous side and find even ground with him.
When he and Tony confronted Loki in the pent house near the end of the battle, Draco thought he could sense something like imperious curse clouding Loki’s mind, but much stronger. When he signaled for Tony to give him time to try and figure it out, he stalled and waited. When Draco thought he had the right solution, he cast the spell at Loki, and the god fell to the ground with a groan of pained relief.
He was on his feet after another moment, his eyes now a piercing green rather than cloudy blue, and he was furious enough to help them end the battle. He thanked Draco for his helped and promised to bless him and his mate with protection and strength afterwards.
When Tony went through the worm hole with the nuke, Draco could feel his heart stop. When he fell back down, it was all Draco could do to not immediately lock Tony away to recover for a few months at the very least. It was Loki who made sure Tony wouldn’t suffer any lasting damage from his trip into space, and after that, gave both of them much stronger blessings than he had originally promised.
After Loki and Thor left, things just seemed keeping to escalate. They tried their best to keep things under control, but after Ultron, it was entirely out of their hands.
“Wanda is not an actual witch. Her magic feels… wrong, artificial.” Draco said one day. “It feels like the magic around her is sick.” He and Tony continued to watch her, keeping their distance. Everything came to a head when Sergeant James Buchanan “Bucky” Barnes reappeared.
Steve started arguing with Tony every day. He blamed Tony for not being able to find Bucky, not being able to leave to search for him. Natasha, Clint, and Wanda joined him, and one day, it came to physical violence. Before Steve could swing his raised fist, Draco had pulled out his wand. With a cry of “Stupefy” Steve was knocked out on the ground and everyone was looking at him in shock.
Wanda was angry. She almost couldn’t handle not being the only person with magical powers, and more varied and more powerful magic at that. There was a distinct split at that point, and Steve and those who agreed with him left.
When Siberia came, it was over quickly once Draco could tie Steve up with magical ropes. Bucky was very much shaken, but he did want help. He was dangerous, yes, but he was also confused and scared, and Draco could relate to him in a way.
For a few months afterwards, Tony and Draco had a peaceful existence. Tony was making more powerful suits, and Draco was gathering wizarding allies for just in case. Tony started making funds for independent hero teams who might not have the money or resources they need to help others while also taking care of themselves.
Its almost a year later when Bucky is mostly ok and everything has mostly settled down again (though Tony and Steve still can’t be in the same room together for fear of Steve attacking Tony), that the next big threat comes.
“He calls himself Thanos.” Fury says, handing Draco and Tony a debrief file. “He is collecting something called the infinity stones and is one of the most dangerous entities we have ever encountered with an obsession of killing half the universe to make things have a ‘better balance’. Any questions?” Draco and Tony shake their heads and start reading and planning. Draco makes the magical world aware, and Loki and Thor come to join them, along with a bunch of other alien heroes who had been affected by Thanos’s cruelty.
When the mad titan came to earth, the battle lasted nearly three days, and it only ended after a wizard named Harry Potter, who Draco seemed to have a love hate relationship with, and Loki teamed up and managed to behead the titan. Everything froze for one moment, and then the entire earth seemed to sigh in relief, and everyone around them burst into cheers of celebration.

Three months after Thanos’s defeat, everything seemed relatively back to normal. Tony and Draco were relaxing in a sun room in Malfoy manor. Tony was resting his head on Draco’s chest, listening to his heartbeat. “I’m so glad that I met you back in 1992.” Tony whispered as he took a deep breath.
“I am glad I met you as well Tony. Who knows where either of us would be if we did not.” Draco leaned down and kissed Tony’s forehead. Soon, it would be their 15th anniversary. When that day came, Draco would ask Tony about blood adoption, and they would live out their lives happily.
