What A Lazy Morning

Summary:

Yoichi's a fucking koala when he sleeps sometimes, clings to Rin like he's going to somehow drown in the safety of their sheets.

Or

Rin and Yoichi have a lazy morning together. (Rin is only a little annoyed about it).

Notes:

Hi Hi! Needed some tooth rotting fluff after a really tough week so whipped this up real quick while I'm working on a few other things. I love when Rin is whipped and (not) annoyed by how much he loves Yoichi okay?

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Morning light filters through the blinds. Rin is, oddly, too tired to deal with it and couldn't anyway because he's being held hostage in his own bed. The weight on his chest makes him feel both annoyed and content however and he lifts his hand to comb his fingers through Yoichi's hair.

Yoichi's a fucking koala when he sleeps sometimes, clings to Rin like he's going to somehow drown in the safety of their sheets. It's nearly unbearable in the summer when it's hot and humid but when he blinks at Rin in the early hours of the morning, sleep warm and bleary eyed, annoyance gives way to something softer and kinder. This morning is no different and as Rin starts to shift a little, reaching for his phone to check the time, Yoichi stirs with him. He lifts his head slightly just to shift and hide his face in the curve of Rin's neck. Like this, its easy for Rin to turn his head just enough to bury his nose in Yoichi's stupid cowlicked hair.

He smells like Rin's shampoo and it's intoxicating; he breathes it in, lets himself spiral in the possessiveness it triggers.

"Rin," Yoichi's voice is huskier when he wakes, a little deeper, "go back to sleep."

"It's almost nine," he grunts, feeling a more than a little lazy because they've slept prime morning hours away already. But Yoichi kisses his neck softly, squeezes him a little tighter, and any thoughts about making it to the gym dissapate. Instead they are replaced by ideas of laying in bed all day, a bowl of popcorn between them, and a horror movie marathon which he knows Yoichi will complain about but will watch anyway.

He tells himself its retribution as he makes Yoichi roll onto his back, cursing softly as Rin's weight settles on him and crushes him into the bed. The urge to taunt him rises, to remind him that no one stays the best by lazing about in bed. But fingers tangle in Rin's hair as the other hand slips under his shirt to trail along his spine and knees lift slightly to cradle him; it makes his mind go nearly blank as a wave of sleepiness crashes through him. It's a moment of weakness, but he lets himself allow it, lets himself be coddled, and swears that it will be only five more minutes.

It's not just five minutes, it's nearly thirty and Rin wakes back up with a start. He feels sticky from where they've maintained skin contact, thanks to their apartment being so warm. But Yoichi's fingers are still following the line of his spine and he feels a soft hum rumble beneath him, acknowleding that Rin has moved.

"Someone's being awfully lazy this morning," Yoichi teases like the prick he is and an odd warmth circulates through Rin's bloodstream. He tentatively calls it affection, masks it as annoyance. He grunts softly as he lifts his head to meet his boyfriend's gaze.

Boyfriend.

It's still such a weird word to associate with Yoichi of all people, even though its nearly been a year. But he does and it soothes an ache Rin's long been harboring in his chest under his apathy and anger. Yoichi is his. There's a part of him, a way deep down part, that knows a piece of himself will always be Yoichi's. It's gross, and his teenage self would hate the idea of it, but he's mature now after a year of entangling his life with Yoichi's.

Kind of.

"Who's fault is that?" He finally grumbles as he tucks his nose back into the crook of Yoichi's neck and makes no attempt to get up.

"Not mine."

Tell that to the hand still under his shirt. Though he wants to bite him, he settles for pressing his lips to the pulse in Yoichi's neck. He knows he should move, get out of bed. He wants some coffee, probably needs the bathroom, should still try to get to the gym. Yet, annoyingly, he still doesn't move and Yoichi just kisses the top of his head and lingers. It takes another five minutes but he finally peels himself up and makes himself get out of bed. Yoichi makes a noise somewhere between a whine and a groan and tries to hold onto him for a little longer before heaving a sigh as he lets him go.

The routine he falls into is automatic. He makes a stop in the bathroom, splashes cool water on his face and gently rubs at his eyes. Then out to the kitchen to start some coffee. He waits the few minutes he knows it takes for the scent of the fresh brew to fill the apartment and behind him he hears the soft padding of feet across the floor. Then Yoichi is there, arms wrapped around him from behind and chin resting on Rin's shoulder. He already has their mugs out on the counter so Yoichi busies his hands by tracing his fingertips along Rin's ribs instead of getting the cream from the fridge. He acts touch starved even though Rin is the one that holds everyone at arm's length.

He snorts softly, equal parts annoyed and amused, and guides Yoichi around to face him. He's greeted by a tired, but bright smile and Rin knows he's waiting for a kiss, a real good morning kiss, now that both of them are up. He doesn't give it; instead he cards his fingers through his hair, tugs on a few of the knots he finds which makes Yoichi hiss softly at him again. But he tilts his head for him, like he's a sunflower looking for Rin's sunlight.

Yoichi kisses him then with his arms around Rin's neck and its sweet, much sweeter than what he normally gets on their way out the door in the morning. He's only a little annoyed that neither of them has brushed their teeth, but he returns the kiss as he pulls him in by his hips because kissing him has become entirely too easy. Somehow, he's let himself become domesticated and though he should hate it, he will admit to himself (and himself only) that he doesn't.

"Get your coffee and come back to bed with me," Yoichi murmurs as they break apart, nuzzling his jaw.

It's tempting; it's been tempting him since he woke up.

And as Yoichi blinks at him, offers him a tender smile and almost too gentle touch, he looks very much like a wolf in sheep's clothing. Rin realizes and understands, without a doubt, that he's going to cave. Yoichi's smile lifts a little more as he realizes he's winning.

"Fine," he finally agrees, finger under Yoichi's chin to keep his head tilted up, "but we're watching what I want to watch."

The smile turns victorious before he kisses Rin again, "Deal."

Rin somehow ends up making Yoichi's coffee for him; he can tell he nailed it by the way his eyes light up when he takes his first sip. Rin can't help but roll his eyes before heading back towards their bedroom. The soft scuff of bare feet across the floor follows him back down the hall. Carefully, he settles onto what has decidedly become his side of the bed and Yoichi settles on his. It doesn't, however, take long for them to meet in the middle and Rin's long legs tangle up in Yoichi's.

"You're too clingy," he mutters around the rim of his mug, reaching for the remote.

Yoichi snorts next to him, "You fell asleep on me. And I'm clingy?"

Rin sips his coffee and as familiar weight settles against him, he glances over pointedly. But Yoichi just smiles again, presses a quick kiss to his cheek, and sticks to him like velcro.

Idiot.

But once Rin starts The Shining (to which Yoichi does complain), he finds his arm around his shoulders because it feels like it belongs there. And though he feels Yoichi looking at him, can feel the playful judgement slapping him in the face, he ignores it.

Maybe one day of playing hostage is okay.

Notes:

Soft reminder to tell the people you love that you love them because you never really know when you won't be able to. Thanks for hanging with me and my quickly turned out, probably OOC self indulgence. Kudos appreciated as always. <3
