In some lands, people look up at the sky in fear and desperation, scrabbling together what they can grow in their face as tribute to their lords, not knowing who brings the hail or the wind. Maybe it’s better, not to know that the seasons are themselves warring lords, that an endless drought can be the fruit of a brutal conquest, that weather troubles have a face and name attached.
Izuku lived in the lands of King Enji of the Summer Court all his life, and first learnt the meaning of cold when he was a grown man, assigned as a guard. Shouto, the King’s treasured prince, was raised to unify Summer and Winter, a living symbol of domination that had to remain in a gilded cage forever. Now, they’re both free, or as free as you can get, cast out into the wide world—and with one band of rebellious peasants, led by one Uraraka Ochako, they’ve found shelter from the storms raised by kings.
