Work Text:

Pure Vanilla sat in his ‘office’, replying to letters from the Kingdom with a tired expression; as if it were a chore to respond to his old friend’s worried quips. Just as he was about to sign his signature, however, his chocolate ran out. He would have to get up from his chair to grab it. Immediately letting out an aggrieved sigh, he put his hands to his forehead, dropping his staff to the floor. It took him about fifteen seconds to exit his burdened persona.

Reaching for his staff, he instead felt something… soft? Wasn’t his office made exclusively out of stale ass role cake wood for it to be holding up? After realizing he wasn’t finding his staff, Pure Vanilla opened his eyes. The slowly retreating sun cast rays of light across the room, illuminating his soft yet beautiful face. Although, his brief moment of peace was interrupted when a certain Beast arrived.

“‘Nilla, how’d you like the presentation?” spoke Shadow Milk, dodging the meanest uppercut in history. “It was quite calming, thank you.” As if sensing Shadow Milk’s ego growing, Pure Vanilla immediately rethought his words. “That was, however, until you made your presence known,” annexed Pure Vanilla.

Now that he was unable to relax, he took a moment to actually examine the room. It kind of resembled his office in the Vanilla Kingdom, but it obviously did not contain any white lilies. He saw the way Shadow Milk’s eyes darkened when she was mentioned. Pure Vanilla’s eyes, however, glistened with hidden joy at how well it replicated the aura and (slightly disturbed) tranquility of his room. This, of course, did not go unnoticed by Shadow Milk.

“Oh, oh, OH! You DO like it! ‘No need to avoid the truth’, ‘Nilly!” gushed Shadow Milk Cookie, realizing that he found a crack in porcelain finery. Pure Vanilla, used to his antics, ignored him and flopped down on the bed. “Hey, it’s not nice to ignore someone you knoooow!!” pestered Shadow Milk, shifting his voice into a more annoyed and whiny tone. Although, instead of Pure Vanilla looking back at him with an exasperated expression, he had his eyes closed.

Shadow Milk, not really expecting him to let his guard down so easily, simply plopped down next to Pure Vanilla. Not yet feeling sleepy, the cookie simply lay there with open eyes, drinking in the sight of the cookie next to him. Though he might not admit it outloud, he really did love the healer cookie. His silly Vanilly was just so silly! While Shadow Milk was a naturally slightly cold cookie, Pure Vanilla held a warmth to which none could compare.

He snuggled with his other half, even while knowing that he could be slaughtered easily in that position, Sharing body heat, their breaths were synchronized as the fake rays of sunlight faded from the window. Now they were full on cuddling, Pure Vanilla’s sleeping form wrapped around Shadow Milk, with him, in turn, slinging an arm over him. Soul Jams beating in harmony, it wasn’t long before they were both sleeping, the moon hanging over them to cast rays of light across their pale forms.
