It was just a normal day for the two of them. After school they would both walk around the campus then part ways once they got to their own dorms. Usually they would tell each other about their day or really anything they could think to talk about while walking together, but at some point during this day, a certain question came across Charles' mind.
So like any other day, they both left the school building already talking to eachother. Every once in a while when they ran out of things to say, the silence would only last about a few seconds before Charles said something that would catch Niko completely off guard, and the conversation would go from there.
It got to that point again where they walked in silence for maybe ten seconds at the most, and Niko prepared himself for whatever Charles would ask this time.
"Have you ever kissed someone before?" This was different than anything Charles had ever asked him. It wasn't like the usual brainrot or sex joke, it sounded like a genuine question. Which, honestly, caught him even more off guard than anything else he had said. Niko noticed that there was a different kind of tone in Charles' voice. He sounded a little bit nervous to be asking the question, which made it seem even more genuine.
Now the answer to that question would be no, Niko hadn't kissed anyone before. But would he say that and have Charles think he's some loser? Of course not!
"Well duh" "Seriously? You gotta teach me how!" As if Niko couldn't be any more surprised by what's being said to him. Did he want him to kiss him? How else would he even teach him? But Niko didn't want to jump to any conclusions just yet
"Teach you? How?" "By kissing me, obviously" Now Niko wasn't the kind of person to blush or get flustered or anything like that, at least he thought. But having someone ask him to kiss them? Who wouldn't get flustered over that?! "You- huh? You're only supposed to kiss someone you really like!"
He turned his head the opposite direction of the boy walking next to him in an attempt to hide how flustered he was, even by a little bit. "Well what if I really like you?" He felt Charles lean just a little closer to him, seems like the nervousness from earlier was gone now.
He was very sure the kids around them were listening to their conversation. Charles really had no filter no matter where or who he was with, which was one of the things Niko found interesting about him. Even if Niko got embarrassed about some of the things Charles would say to him with other people watching, watching Charles be so carefree about it would almost make him feel completely better about the situation
Oh yeah, he's meant to help Charles learn how to kiss apparently.
Not that he was complaining. Niko never really thought about having feelings for the other boy, but getting a certain feeling in his stomach every time Charles made a suggestive comment about him, always staring when he wasn't looking just to admire him, always wanting to be around him, yeah there's a small chance he might have a crush on him.
Niko turned his head again, now being able to see Charles' face again. His walking came to an abrupt stop, and Charles followed the same movement. Now that they were face to face again, Niko noticed how smug Charles looked about the situation, with just a hint of confusion in his eyes due to the unexpected stop in their walking.
There was no doubt about it, this felt right. Niko put a hand on Charles' cheek as he leaned in closer. He tilted his head slightly and kissed him. Charles' lips didn't exactly feel soft, they were quite chapped in fact, but that didn't bother him. Niko noticed how the other seemed to be tensed up as he kissed him. He quickly pulled away, removing his own hand from the other.
Judging by Charles' face, he definitely didn't actually expect that to happen. He was wide eyed with his mouth now slightly agape now that his lips weren't on Niko's. Was everything he said just another joke and Niko hadn't realized?
"Wait I-I'm sorry did you not want me to-" Charles cupped Niko's face in his hands and crashed his lips against the others again, in a way more aggressive way than how Niko had done it. He successfully caught Niko off guard yet again. But after the split second of shock, Niko was quick to kiss back, putting one of his hands over Charles' hand on his face.
The kiss couldn't have been more than a second or two longer than the first, but it felt like it had lasted so much longer. Both of the boys knew there were people around them still, but did they care? Of course not.
When they eventually pulled away from each other, Niko spoke softly. "I really like you too.." He now had a good view of Charles. He had the same shocked expression as before, but now he was blushing so hard he almost looked like a tomato. It was something Niko hadn't seen before, usually Charles was always confident, he'd rarely ever seen him get embarrassed over anything. But to see him this flustered over a simple kiss gave Niko butterflies.
"I GOTTA GO" Is the last thing Charles yelled before running away from the scene, turning a corner to a shortcut to their dorms (which the two would rarely ever take in order to spend more time talking together) to escape quicker.
Even though Niko was obviously sad Charles was gone that quick, after what just happened he wasn't all that worried about what would happen with the both of them. And if he got the chance to kiss him again, it would definitely be worth it.
