Maybe It Was The Jealousy

This one got very introspective very quickly, oops

Summary: Isaac has been in France for a few months, and he doesn’t know whether or not he regrets his decision. He misses Scott, he misses them all—but he can’t stop thinking about what Allison said with her dying breath. She loved Scott, and the worst part is he can’t blame her.

————————————————————

Isaac thought a lot about his decision to leave Beacon Hills, to go with Chris and travel France. He thought about it too much.

He thought about Scott, Stiles, Derek, the pack. How he’d left them. The falling out after Allison’s death.

God—her death. Isaac couldn’t stop replaying it in his mind. The sword. Scott holding her as she took her last breath. Allison confessing her undying love for Scott as she died in his arms. It both saddened him and pissed him off. He knew he was a rebound, really it wasn’t hard to see, but it hurt. He couldn’t stick around. He couldn’t look at Scott and know that she preferred him. That at the end of the day, she loved him.

So he left.

Paris was nice. The people were friendly enough and Isaac was learning the language pretty well. He and Chris didn’t talk too much but that was okay, he didn’t expect them too. They were both recovering from her death. The one thing they had in common, linking them together.

Despite that, Isaac felt safe. He knew Chris would protect him—keep him hidden. Even after they parted ways, Isaac knew that if he called, Chris would come running. A small smile worked its way onto his face at the thought. Chris Argent was more like a dad than his own father could ever be, and he wasn’t afraid to admit it.

Still, he was lonely. He only saw Chris a few times during the month. For the most part he was hotel hopping, using the credit card he’d been given to stay afloat, always moving around. He had a lot of time to think about his choice, the fact that he was in another continent because his girlfriend died. (His ex girlfriend? Would that make her his ex? Or was he a shitty excuse for a widow?)

He missed Scott. He hated him, he felt betrayed and he never wanted to go back.. but all he wanted to do was go back.

Scott was familiar. Scott was home. He understood Isaac in a way no one ever had, not even Derek. He was kind, accepting, even if he didn’t start out in his pack, he never once treated Isaac like he was anything lesser. Maybe that’s why Allison’s words hurt so much.

Isaac knew that it wasn’t Scott’s fault—I mean, who wouldn’t love him? He was everybody’s dream boy. Attentive. Patient. Devoted and protective. He was the perfect man for anyone, including Allison. He shouldn’t hold her words against the Alpha, but he couldn’t help it.

Maybe it was the jealousy, he mused, tapping a finger on the glass in his hand. Scott had everything Isaac wanted. A loving mother, a best friend who’d stick behind him no matter what, a girlfriend who’d been so in love she confessed on her death bed while dating someone else. Isaac wanted that, but he couldn’t have it.

His father was the exact opposite of loving. Abusive and neglectful, a piece of shit who got off on locking his son in a freezer. The only people he could’ve considered to be a best friend were Erica and Boyd, but they were both dead. Allison had been the only girl Isaac ever dated—and she was still in love with her ex.

Isaac’s eyes glanced over the hotel. A sliding glass door, black satin curtains, one double bed with white sheets still perfectly tucked in. The wallpaper was forest green, the ceiling plain white, the floor was hardwood and tiled in the bathroom. It wasn’t bad. But it wasn’t home. It smelt too clean, reeking of bleach and pinesol, laundry detergent and expensive soap. He hated it.

He took a sip from his glass, rum and coke. The alcohol burned ever so slightly but he didn’t care, instead he enjoyed the buzz and sat with his thoughts.

He was glad he left, but he missed them all dearly. This was better for his health, yet he’s never felt more alone. He hates Scott, but Scott’s the only person who ever made him feel seen. Allison broke his heart, yet he couldn’t stop loving her, even if he knew she didn’t love him.

He drained the glass and set it down next to him, staring into the green wallpaper. He wasn’t sure he’d ever go back, but he’d be lying if he said he didn’t miss it.

He missed them all so much it hurt.

Notes:

I had a lot of fun playing with Isaac’s pov and I hope I did him justice!

I hope you enjoyed reading this mess of Isaac’s thoughts as much as I enjoyed writing it
