That was simple when she'd known herself a hero. 'Ladybug holds the truth,' was what she'd said, years ago. Something she'd forced herself to believe, for his safety, out of love, someone he doesn't look back on and regret even being related to, his own mother gone and now his father. She'd never had many fond feelings for Gabriel, she was wise enough to admit, and blatantly obvious. She'd always resented him as Adrien's father, always making decisions for him, neglectful towards him enough for his own son to form a better relationship with his assistant. But knowing how Adrien felt about him despite everything made her soft, made her feel hope for the man in the way his son talked about him, clear love in his words for his last parent left. It made her let her guard down.
