Work Text:

It was a much more darker and cold evening, the two were fighting back against monsters and other creatures that were focused on them heavily. Wilson had got a few hound scars here and there on her legs, the blood running down to her shoes. She knelt down and clenched her leg, a sharp gasp of pain escaping her lips.

When all things seemed to calm down, Winry was quick to tending to her wounds. Giving a careful inspection and cleaning up the blood first.

"Don't worry.. I've got some bandages to cover these up, just sit right here and I'll do my work." She assures.

Wilson got down on the ground carefully, wincing in pain from the stinging. Winry got the bandages out from her bag, carefully applying cleansing to the bandages before wrapping them around her leg. It made her squeak a little bit from the cleansing touching the wound, but she knew it'd make it clean.

"Those damn hounds, they really are a nuisance... and have quite the claws." Wilson groaned.

She had finished up wrapping up Wilson's leg, not too tight, and not too loose either.

"There we are, just be careful now dear.. we don't want anymore painful scars on us do we?" Winry asked.

"No... not at all, I do not wish for anymore. And I especially don't want you to get harmed either." Wilson replied.

"No worries, I'm always careful and will do my very best to not get hurt once! I'll be a true monster slaying master!"

Picking herself up, Wilson walked carefully with her. Limping slightly and being careful with her freshly wrapped leg. But the more they continued, Wilson could hear strange noises all around the surrounding area, whispers and scittering steps from some sort of creatures. She kept high alert.

Things got stranger through Wilson's vision, creepier creatures, mysterious tall figures with many eyes and long claws and fingers. It made Wilson's breathing pick up pace and her heart race.

Winry noticed this behavior right away, a bit concerned. "Everything alright? ..I understand you wish to protect me and yourself but, try settling down just a bit okay?" She lightly shakes her shoulder to get her attention, seeing her vacant faraway look in her eyes.

Wilson's eyes were wide and looked around every corner, a bit of a disturbing look. She gripped onto her axe tightly, anxious and afraid of what she could hear.

"Y-yeah.. I'm okay, just.. my head kind of hurts....." She uttered, her hand holding her head.

Her ears fill with loud ringing and whispers, she groans in pain, rubbing her head wanting it to stop. But it continued more and more.

"Well.. maybe we can take a break, we have been fighting lots of strange things today! Maybe it's the stress." Winry assured, gently squeezing her hand.

"I hear them... they're out here Winry.. they're out here to get us." She murmured, her expression blank.

"W-what? What are you talking about? What are you hearing, the only thing I hear is the birds." Winry asked, slightly concerned about her.

Through Wilson's eyes, things around her got darker and more gray, she could see these strange creatures that were shadow like and disappear as soon as her eyes saw them. Her body trembled slightly, and her pace got wonky, walking sideways and not blinking at all.

Before she could fall Winry stopped her and put her hand on her shoulder, gripping her and shaking her once more. "Wilson!? What is going on with you?" She cried.

"They're.... they're here. They're here. They're out to get us." Wilson murmured again, no emotion in her voice.

She tried settling her to sit down, Wilson's whole body was shaking. Her face had small, dark, shadow like cracks forming around as her eyes stared dead into Winry's. Her hands shaking as she held onto her axe, almost like she was ready to fight something.

"What is going on with you...!? Wilson!?" She cried, trying to reach out to her.

In a panic, Wilson slapped away her hand, through her eyes everything was a monster like creature or some shadowy figure. Winry through her vision, looked like a tall, lanky figure of darkness with small many white glowing eyes, sharp clawed hands reaching for her.

"Go.. go away! You.. you monster!" She shouted.

"No Wilson.. I'm not a monster! Do you hear me?" Winry called out.

Wilson picked herself up and began swinging her axe around, before hitting it on the ground. A strange black substance came out from where she hit, possibly from one of those creatures she can see. The axe dripped of the pitch black blood. Wilson angrily stomps the ground, more black blood spewing from it.

"DIE!!! DIE YOU!!!" She yelled, hitting the axe on the ground multiple times, getting dangerously close to her foot.

Winry backed off from her, a horrified expression seeing these strange cracks form on her, the behaviors and strange things she was saying, she didn't know what to do.

"Stop stop!! You're going to hurt yourself! ..can you even hear me?" Tears forming in Winry's eyes.

Wilson's head turned quickly to see her. Her eyes dead and cold staring at her. It's clear she's out of her mind and at a loss of sanity. She swung her axe more and inched closer to Winry, it made Winry collapse and try to crawl away.

"Wilson.. please listen.. I'm not going to hurt you! You need to sit down and let me help you with whatever this is! Please! Please..."

Winry dug through her bag to find something to help her regain her sanity. While doing this, Wilson charged towards Winry ready to swing right down on her. Winry took out the flower crown she had made, ducking under Wilson's arms before holding onto her tightly and putting it on her head. She dropped her axe to the ground, it made a hard thud.

"Please.... please honey listen to me.. just hear my words!" She sniffled.

She held onto Wilson and slowly lowered her down to the ground, making her sit up against a tree. The strange shadowy cracks on her face were disappearing, her eyes were still looking around frantically.

"Here.. here eat these dear.. they'll help you a lot." Winry took out some of the cooked greencaps she got earlier in the day, feeding them to Wilson.

She ate them up fully, Winry held onto her arm and watched carefully to see what she'd do. Wilson looked over to her, seeing her pained and worried expression, she was finally in her proper mindset and had realized what she had done. It was hard for her to hold back tears as she now knows she could've severely harmed her love.

"Oh.. oh god... what was I doing!?" Wilson cried.

"Shh.. shhh, dear it's okay. You're back to being sane again you're safe now." Winry whispered.

She hugged her tightly and rubbed her back, letting her know that she isn't mad or upset at what happened. She understood the situation entirely.

"I.. I don't know what or why I felt so insane... I never thought you'd have to see me that way my sweet flower." She said, wiping the mess of tears on her sleeves.

"Wilson I understand.. the way this world works is scary isn't it? You've been through it longer than me, and I get that you'd never ever want me to be afraid of you." Winry whispered.

"Of course, I would never want to hurt you or make you feel unsafe. You keep me sane.. you make me feel safe and loved. And I appreciate and value that deeply in my heart." Wilson said.

Wilson's hug grew more, she never wanted to let go of the sweet and warm embrace. Some of her tears dampened Winry's shoulder, cradling her gentle in her arms.

"I'd do anything to protect you. You've done so much for me, that you deserve all the good things in the world and my love." Winry whispered.

Wilson wiped her eyes and smiled, looking at her full of undying true love.

"Aww.. you have such a pure heart, always helping me or someone else in need. How did I get to be so lucky with you..." Wilson said, pressing a kiss to her forehead, making Winry smile brighter.

"Oh you...!! We should start heading back after that, I'll make us a nice warm meal for tonight.. you can rest your body up, you deserve it, all the time." Winry said.

She held her hand and helped her back up, making their way back after their misadventures and extremely terrifying moment. But, no matter what moment or danger that approached them, the two would always find a way out of it and to help one another out.

The End!
