Work Text:

Wilson had her nose buried in her notebook, taking note of her experiments and inventions recently made. Meanwhile, Winry was tending to their garden planting more seeds for flowers and foods.

Wilson turned to watch for a moment, seeing how proud she was of her handiwork. This made her smile as she also gets proud of her own work she does for others.

Winry looked over to see Wilson, seeing her so busy in her work she wanted to patiently wait for her to be done, before she could ask her a question.

"There we are pretty little darlings... absorb all that wonderful light so you can grow!" She cheered.

The soils were damp with water and were exposed to the sunlight, she dusts her hands off now that the task has been completed, approaching Wilson and gently tapping her shoulder.

"Excuse me.. Wilson? Are you available to talk to at the moment?" She asked.

"Hm? Well of course I'm available, I'll answer any question you have for me no matter what it may be!" Wilson replied, she sat her notebook down and pen.

"How did you get the idea of making.. those things?" She points to the science machine.

Wilson perked up at her question, excited to answer and explain her invention.

"The science machine? I'm glad you asked! I had the idea to make an invention that could be a convince to others, and help make things like basic necessities, tools, and clothing. That's when I got to working on it, a few early tests of me making it did have some failures. But eventually I ended up making what we use now." Wilson explained.

Winry's eyes sparked at hearing her talk about it, hearing how knowledgeable she was about making such a helpful invention and her thought behind it. It all made her want to hear more from her.

"You made a wonderful invention! You could make so many helpful and world changing things dear.. a-and maybe even experiments too! Do tell me more!" Winry said with excitement.

She didn't think she was so interested in hearing her speak about her interests in making something. "R-really? You want to hear more things from me?" She asked.

Winry nodded her head yes excitedly. "Yes yes please! ..I want to learn more from you, hear all your genius stuff and things you like about science!"

Wilson blushed slightly and chuckled, no one had ever been so invested about things she knew.

"Wow.. hehe.. well alright! You see that thing over there? The round machine? That is the alchemy engine! Y'know being here showed me that most resources and materials that aren't easier to obtain, are a big need yes? So I wanted to come up with something that could convert simpler easier obtainable materials, into those! For example, I could give it some stones and they'd come out as some smooth, perfectly cut, cut stone!" Wilson exclaimed.

"..how cool!! To create something that can give us even more accessibility at our fingertips.. incredible! You're such a smart person Wilson, and hearing about your interests and knowledge... that's what makes you so unique!" She added.

"Oh come on now.. I'm not that knowledgeable, but if you insist to make my ego grow..." Wilson teased, scratching the back of her head shyly.

"Well since you got to hear my rambling, I'd like to hear about your stuff. Tell me some things you know about plants and flowers, what got you interested, or whatever you'd like."

She jumped a little hearing this, but happy to talk about her knowledge. "O-oh my goodness! Of course! ..my mother liked to breed them as something on the side, to see what beautiful color they'd turn out to be and see the different results.. it was her dream to one day open up her own store in our family name, to give others her pretty results. So, when I was a little girl, I wanted to do that too! I-I even have my book full of all sorts of notes and pictures of what I have done.. if you'd like to take a look of course..." Winry explained shyly.

"A book of all your notes and research? Why I'd love to take a peak darling! To see all your hard work and dedication." She replied.

Going back inside the tent, Winry went through her backpack to get her book. It was quite big and heavy full of pages.

"H-here you go.. it's quite heavy and has a lot of tiny words for space, sorry if it's hard to read some of it.."

Wilson happily held the book in her hands, it had a cover of a real printed flower marking with her name on it. Carefully, she opened it up and examined the pages, reading all the explanations and recorded results she had written down.

"Goodness, the dedication is lovely.. and to see these pictures too of them all. How long have you been working on this?" Wilson asked.

"Ahaha.... I've been working on it for a long time, since I was very little. My mother helped me write some of them because of words I didn't know how to spell yet, I might be in some of these pictures.." She replied.

There were many pictures of the flowers, from when they were first starting to form a bloom to the aftermath. Another page showed one of these pictures, showing a little child Winry standing near it.

"Hehe! Look at that adorable little smile, you look so cute when you were little my sweet flower." Wilson chuckled.

"Yes that's me.. father took that picture, he was making a silly face when telling me to smile." Winry said, a hint of shy blush falls to her.

Wilson was invested in her work, never wanting to stop looking and reading all the work she had put into her life. Eventually, she wanted to pause and handed the book back to her.

"What did you think..? Was that cool? O-or was I taking up time for you to do something better—"

"It was amazing!! To see the growth of your work and research over the years of you growing up, it's absolutely a sight to behold! You do not take up any time darling.. I'd give everything second, hour and minute just to listen to you." Wilson said soft.

Winry stored her book back away in her bag, feeling a relief that she loved every minute of her dedication.

"T-thank you.. thank you for enjoying my rambling and interests, that's what makes us have something in common. We like to talk about the things we enjoy and love.. and don't get tired of it at all." Winry said.

"That's true! You like hearing my scientific talk, and I like hearing your floral talk. We have such wonderful and deep conversations, I hope that we can always talk like this for a long time." She added.

"..so.. do you still want to talk about more science?" She asked shyly.

"Everyday darling, I'd love to talk about more with you." Wilson giggled.

The two spent their day talking about many different things, the things they enjoyed, talking about their thoughts and dreams, and more importantly... talking about what their future would be like.

The End!
