Seungkwan looks at the performance car in his garage as if he were facing an old and resistant enemy.
“Come on, Seungkwannie~ Wipe that kicked puppy dog look off your face and get in the car.” Gyu encourages him by turning the silver keys on his fingertips before throwing them at Seungkwan. “Ouch!” Kwan grunts, clumsily grabbing the key, not before it hits him right in the jugular.
Minghao interrupts the other two ones by strutting in, his usual catwalk just to give his opinion, since he wouldn’t get into a car with Seungkwan as the driver even if he paid. “Sweetie, I would say get rid of that crappy car, but I remembered that it was my husband who gifted you this thing.” Hao laments with one hand on his hip, Seungkwan and Mingyu watch more bored than offended like the cheesy bestie unit they are, which is more comforting to calm the nerves of the poor 'Seungkwan driver'.
Minghao contemplates before turning around with a sassy rockstar sway, and instructs him: "Then bring the jalopy and Junhui in one piece."
"Of course I wouldn't flip the car." Kwan barks as he enters the Cadillac Coupé Deville 59, all growl-without-bite, emphasizing: "Even more so with Moon Junhui with me." Priorities, of course.
Hao lets out a little laugh, it was to be expected that Seungkwan's fan love for his alpha would be mentioned at some point, like, the omega can't go so long without adoring Jun. "Bye, La!"
“And what about me, Boo Seungkwan? Your idiot best friend who’s in the passenger seat?” Mingyu demands.
“I’m going to pretend you didn’t ask me that when you ran me over with your car seven years ago.”
“So what, Seungkwan-ah? It’s not a hit-and-run if the vehicle doesn’t run over you, and it didn’t! I just hit you.”
“Mingyu, you say ‘I just hit you’ when you bump into someone, NOT WHEN A CAR CRASHES INTO THEM!”
Gyu gives up and can’t help but smile mischievously at the flashback he had of him running over Kwan in his Ferrari when leaving the garage. To be fair was more a knock than something serious. Luckily, Boo only sprained his left wrist and wasn’t pregnant, which is a miracle considering Seungkwan is a rabbit, having one baby after another. But it was funny seeing Boo’s little legs flying.
“Are you laughing at me, Gyu?” Kwan asks and Mingyu is quick to cut in: “No way~ I’m so happy because my alpha has arrived.”
Wonwoo really did arrive at the garage with Junhui, Gyu's ass is saved from a beating. Anyway, Seungkwan has starry eyes like a proud son about to show his parents what he’s learned. And it’s up to Wonwoo and Jun to be the youngest omega’s father figures today, just the way Boo likes it.
The same Jun who is talking almost flirting with the car and ignoring the people inside it: “Ah, the ice blue Cadillac Coupé Deville of 1959 was and is the most majestic low-slung car there is.” Ugh, predictable.
“Hello everyone.” Wonwoo says. Chan arrives too with his sunglasses and leather jacket, more acidic than usual in full alpha-younger brother mode to tease Seungkwan.
Kwan says, mockingly to him: “The daisy has arrived! And you say that omegas take a long time to get ready?”
Dino in a good mood gives Kwan a middle finger and asks more mockingly of what was received: "Wonwoo-hyung, is it a good idea for you two to be in the car? Like, Minho and Aera need one of their parents alive as collateral at least.”
Mingyu doesn't answer, but he looks at his husband, suppressing a chuckle, and Seungkwan notices that neither of the kids's parents denied the statement, but he takes a deep breath because they somehow softened his ego by staying quiet. He is still feared and as unruly as he is behind the wheel, Wonwoo and Gyu respect and fear him enough not to express panic. Soon the omega distills his venom on Dino, who shouldn't have started a fight in the first place. "You know there's always the option of me leaving you, right?"
"Okay, see." The younger alpha arouse in provoke as he gets in the back, pushing the unsuspecting Junhui with a not-so-gentle shove. "You love me, Boo Seungkwan! You can't live without me. And there's no way you can leave me when I'm already in the car."
Chan really woke up feeling like the best. He's such a brat, a menace. Kwan thinks, but what he says in a flourish is: “Uh-huh~ But I can still drop you off halfway.”
Wonwoo laughs genuinely to the point that his broad shoulders tremble. Junhui has a cheerful smile on his face and takes the opportunity to rummage through the top of the trunk, while Mingyu encourages: “Seungkwan-ah, be good to your hyungs and drop Chan-ah off on the road! You don’t even have to get halfway through the journey.”
“Dream on, damn it.” Chan croaks proudly, but his fingers grip the seat upholstery with a little more force than necessary when Seungkwan starts the engine. The engine roars a little, because Kwan is a real drama queen, of course, and shifts into gear with a roar. Gyu praises him: “Yay, Boo!” because he wasn’t the one who hit his head on the back seat like the three defenseless alphas.
The suffering Wonwoo screams an "Ooouch" from the impact. And it is at this moment that Jun shows what he was looking for in the back of the Cadillac, a motorcycle helmet. As if he were a genius and not a man completely frightened by Boo at the wheel, the Chinese alpha narrates: "For this and other reasons I knew I would need extra protection!"
"Jun-hyung-" Seungkwan begins, however he is interrupted by Dino's loud, shrill laugh and Mingyu's noisy laughter, and in the middle of all this Wonwoo looks curious, even pondering whether it was worth bringing his own helmet.
As Seungkwan shifts gears and the car begins to glide smoothly down the two-way road, Jun is still showing off his helmet to the others like a child with a new toy, he continues talking: “It’s not that you drive badly, Seungkwan-ah, but it’s just that these roads these days! And safety is never too much and-”
Dino can’t hold it in, so he laughs: “You've put four children in Minghao and you come talk about safety?!"
“Which is a completely different matter- And if we use it as a parameter it doesn’t make sense, because Kwan-ah has more children than me-” Junhui stumbles without really having a conclusion of thought for his words, and without further arguments puts the helmet on his head and says to the driver: “You can go now, Seungkwan sweetie.”
Seungkwan who has been driving perfectly according to traffic rules for about ten minutes, which is a kind of miracle, concentrates on the road and on using his turn signal. The pleasant silence that occurs abruptly in the car is the answer he needed.
“Uh-muh! Guys, we didn’t crash! Seungkwan-ah is really driving!” Gyu shouts.
“Congratulations, Seungkwan-ah! I always knew you’d make it someday, honey.” Wonwoo praises like a proud alpha father, and yes, he was perhaps the only one in this pack who had faith in Kwan behind the wheel and look at Kwan here, driving.
“Take off that helmet, you idiot. Boo is an ace at driving!” Dino orders with a flick on Jun’s wrist, and Jun gives in: “Okay. Okay!” And throws the helmet on the floor.
Seungkwan smiles and asks: “Did anyone else have anything to say about me?”
Chan answers: “Yes, completely out of context, but here goes: Seungkwan-hyung, did you notice that your favorite people from the pack are in this car?”
What a fucking inconvenient kid and-thought the youngest omega, but he suppresses such reasoning with what he learned from his mom a long time ago: when you don’t understand or want to refrain from answering, tilt your head and say: Really?
Seungkwan soon finds himself saying slyly: “Oh, really?~” because thank heavens he is his mother’s son.
Mingyu, who certainly has the nosiest mother of all, was raised to never keep quiet, said like the cute devil he is: “Your point is valid, Channie, but it’s not entirely right.” And that has Chan’s and everyone’s attention.
Wonwoo, in his role as the doting and condescending alpha husband, asks: “And what would be right, love?”
“For all of Kwan’s favorite people to be in this car, Dokyeom and Vernon would have to be on the hood or in the trunk.” Gyu answers.
Oh, that’s right... It’s not like he loved some members of the pack more than others, it was just that he felt a different kind of love for those specific ones. It just happened, to illustrate, think of Dokyeom smiling at you and tell me if that doesn’t make your heart skip a beat? Of course Seungkwan would be affected too.
And Vernonnie? He's his love, his husband, his strange best person. Seungkwan feels tears of emotion blur his vision, but he sniffs, he has a car to drive, so he says: “It’s inevitable.” His voice in a melodious cadence, love escaping between the words.
“It’s true.” Junhui agrees, smiling shyly, and declares quietly, like a secret shared between all of them: “We also inevitably love you, Seungkwan-ah.”
