Chapter Text
My dear, Jekyll
I hope this letter finds you in good health and that your work is going well. I am writing as I often take weekly walks with my cousin Enfield, and I was wondering if you would like to join this Sunday. He has recently moved into a house near yours and I wanted to know if you would be interested in coming with us occasionally.
Your affectionate friend, Gabriel Utterson
Humming to himself Utterson closes the letter and begins to exit the office. He’d met Jekyll just over two years ago now at a social gathering set up by a shared friend- Hastie Lanyon. He’d taken a liking to him almost instantly there was something different about him almost enigmatic. it had intrigued Utterson who had made it his mission to befriend him. After less than a month him and Jekyll had become close friends and were meeting up around once a week. However, in recent months Jekyll had dived deeper into his work than ever before and was spending all his time in his laboratory working on some new experiment that he probably thought would change his life. Utterson didn’t have a proper understanding of the science that the other man did but he did understand that he missed his friend and hoped he would accept the invitation.
Closing the door behind him Utterson leaves the office and walks down the hallway. ‘Sir’ the butler greets him ‘do you need any assistance?’ he asks.
‘Would you mind finding someone to take this to the post box?’ Utterson replies smiling at the man in front of him.
‘Of course, sir’ the butler nods taking the letter from him and disappearing down the hallway.
