Chapter Text
"Yoko! Yoko!" The deafening screams of the enthusiastic fans pulled her back to reality. It was hard to believe how far she had come since that disastrous year and how strong she had become. 23 year old Yoko would have fainted if she had known how much she would go on to achieve. Alone. Without...
Time heals. They say it heals us of all our pain. Yoko used to hate that but that year thought her so much about letting things happen and letting the universe work its magic. All she could do was to be ready. Be better. Be the best she could be. So that when the time was right, she could bask in the glory that was meant for her.
"Yo... 15 minutes okay? You have to catch a flight to UK tomorrow. You need some rest!" Her assistant reminded her as she gently nudged her in the direction of the big group that had gathered at the event. The huge grin on Yoko's face never disappeared as she scanned the crowd and took in all the happy faces. They had made it out of the madness and they had all found a way back together. Yoko waved happily at her fans as she eagerly approached them. Just another day in the life of Yoko, until it wasn't.
"Yoko! Baobei! Aneung!" Yoko paused and came to a stop upon hearing that name. She had her group of fans cheering and chanting in front of her but the name had not been shouted by them. It was by the group on her right. She shyly turned her head to the right and she saw some familiar faces. Faces she hadn't seen in a while. Faces she used to see quite regularly. And in front of those faces, stood the person that still holds her heart. Every inch of it. She nervously looked up to see those beautiful eyes that were gazing back at her with so much love, as if nothing had gone awry in the past year.
Instantly, Yoko's mouth went dry. The same butterflies that had abandoned her for so long, returned with a newfound energy and inspiration - her. Her heart started racing and she could feel her cheek's becoming her favourite shade of pink. "Fuck," Yoko muttered under her breath as she took a quick breath. How the hell does she always look like she just stepped out of a beauty pageant? Dammit. No. No. Apasra. No. Don't. Please. No. Oh but look at her face and that smile. Gosh I missed that smile, Yoko battled with herself, trying to maintain some level of control. It's ridiculous how the slightest smile and the shortest glance from her was enough to make Yoko almost short circuit. After giving a small smile to her and the fans in that corner, Yoko turned to head towards her fans who had gathered. Just as she was about to turn, she heard the faintest voice. Till today, it felt like something that she had imagined. But that voice was not something she could forget. On the stormiest nights, the darkest days and the hardest moments, that voice had carried her and consoled her. "Yo... Come here please," that gentle voice had said. And somehow, amidst the crazy loud cheers, she heard that voice. Yoko looked up to see the eyes of the person the voice belonged to. The eyes looked at her with so much hope. Hope that maybe today would be the day they will finally get to stand together, even if it was only for a few seconds.
Yoko didn't know what changed or what urged her. It had been a whole year with them meeting each other on and off. Random texts. But Yoko had been too hurt to accept those attempts by her favourite person. This time, Yoko had been the one to build walls around her heart. There was only that much a person can hurt before they shut off. For a whole year now, her heart wasn't empty. Her heart was hidden. Locked away. Shattered.
However, this time was different for some reason. Was it her smile? Yoko didn't know. But she felt herself gesturing to her manager that she needed a moment. She walked towards the crowd of once familiar faces. She walked towards the staff who had been family once. And she stopped in front of the person who still had her whole heart. That smile. That smell. And just like their first time, Yoko felt herself getting lost in those beautiful eyes.
They stood in front of each other. After a long time. Everyone around them held their breaths as they watched the twin flames find their way back to each other. Now that they had worked to heal their own personal traumas, they were ready. Just a little bit closer... And forever be mine.
"P'Mali..." Yoko whispered gently, unable to control herself. But she knew that the person before her had heard her loud and clear, despite the deafening cheers. A gentle smile, one that was reserved for Yoko, stretched across that beautiful face that Yoko adored.
"Yooo..."
