Chapter Text
Inko Midoriya was never a good mother. Well she was to begin with but ever since the day Izuku was announced quirkless things had changed. To be honest Izuku did truly believe he deserved it for being so useless so he stayed quiet about everything.
The years of drunken abuse, of watching the blood drip off his body onto the solid wood floors. He had learned to accept that this was what his life was and that he could never do anything to change that, it was what he deserved for being quirkless.
Most quirkless kids would have ended everything already. People say that 20% of the population was born quirkless but no one ever mentioned how only 5% of that group of people make it past age 14.
It was like having a disease and people just wanted you to be put out of your misery. Izuku never had the gut to do it and he hated himself for that. He knew that everyone would be happier if he was gone.
But he had other ways of making himself feel the pain he deserved.
Ever since the age of 11 daily routine consisted of of waking up and finding his mum black out drunk on the couch, going to school, coming home, his mum coming into his room and
Beating him until he was bloodied and bruised, the day ends with blood dripping down his arms until he passes out in bed only for the cycle to restart the next day.
That was his life, that was what would happen for the rest of his life until he finally took that swan dive.
Things seemed to change when he met All Might and joined UA, specifically class 1-A.
Sure he had a quirk now and he was in the most prestigious school in japan but it was all fake wasn't it.
He didn't earn his place here like everyone else, he faked his way through that exam. The quirk wasn't even his; he was just a fake hero with fake morals.
How was he supposed to save people when he was struggling to save himself?
It was his homeroom teacher who noticed the signs first. How stiff his movements were during training, how he always was sick on rescue training day, how he always freezes up whenever he heard a woman shouting but what finally confirmed his suspicions was the bloody bandages he saw in the boys locker room.
They really could be anyones but the gut feeling he had from years of being a pro hero told he needed to safe this boy before it was too late.
Aizawa had dealt with many children over his career but none quite like Izuku Midoriya. Shouta could tell that this child had more potential than most of the 3rd years he teaches but he was hurting and he desperately needed saving.
~~~~~~
“Midoriya stay behind for a moment,” Aizawa called out as the rest of the class made their way to his husband's English class.
As soon as the classroom was empty he approached Izuku.
“I'm worried about you problem child. I can tell you are struggling. Tell me how I can help you?”
Izuku was taken back by his words no one had ever been worried about him before.
“Everyone at UA only wants the best for you Izuku, but we can only help you if you choose to let us.”
The words Aizawa spoke made something crack within him, the weight of everything he suffered through buried down on him as he slumped forward on his desk violent sobs erupted through him. He was shaking and he couldn't stop the heart wrenching cries from escaping him.
He spoke before his brain processed what he was saying “I don't wanna live like this anymore.”
Aizawa sat speechless as Izuku explained everything that led up to now to him between sobs. By the end of it, Aizawa was ready to adopt this kid himself all while plotting the murder of Inko Midoriya.
But before any of that could happen he needed to save this dear boy.
As Izuku’s sobs turned to sniffles, Aizawa pulled him into a tight hug whispering.
“Problem child you are worth so much more than that woman gives you credit for no matter if you're quirkless or not,”
“But no matter what happens Izuku I will keep you safe from that woman no matter who I have to fight off.”
