Unrequited Admiration

Summary:

The saintess' unheard words, meant only for one.

Notes:

I ruined my DM with this by the way

Work Text:

What is love if not a weight on our burdened shoulders?

She was the only person I truly adored.
Although I was the one closest to her, I couldn’t help but feel as though I was a burden.

She was my dearest friend, if I can call her that.

To trap my heart in this cage of self-wallowing,
I can’t let her be tied down by my selfish desires to have her to myself.

She is all that I hold dear.

Like sand, she slips through even the smallest cracks of my now trembling hands.
Like sand, she is warm under the sun, but in the sea, it’s cold. It clings to your skin regardless of condition. If I could, I’d like to see her smile.

If I could, I’d like to hold her in my arms.
If I could, I’d like to protect her.

She is all I ever think about these days.

My beloved Marion… How long has it been since I called her that?
Had I ever called her by her name before?

The sea that accompanies her voice is the same that beholds the moon’s yearning.
Forever parted by time, as though a cruel joke by the universe.
Wouldn’t that make me her moon?
Perhaps she would be this planet we’re on,
For I revolve around her indefinitely.
