Chapter Text
~One day in June…~
Izuku and Camie began walking towards Aldera Junior High, knowing that their last year in Aldera is coming up, and UA´s Entrance Exams are slowly coming closer and closer.
“Hey hey Izuku-kun, one day closer towards our goals, I totes can´t wait!” exclaimed gleefully Camie, imagining them sharing classes in the biggest Hero Academy in the country.
“I know right, Camie?” Izuku grinned towards the blonde bombshell, sharing the same excitement about UA Academy´s Entrance Exams. “It´ll be tough, more for me than for you though…”
She decided to turn in the direction of her Hero fanboy best friend and squish his cheeks together, not allowing him to wallow in self-deprecation. “I´m not having any of that BS, got it bestie? You´ll pass and we´ll be in the same class like we promised to each other, you´re like the CEO of intelligence I swear!” She giggled, trying to get him out of that dark place, an unfortunate common occurrence in regards to him.
“Yeah…” He smiled, forever grateful that he had such a great friend and could not imagine a life without meeting her. “Although I wouldn´t go that far, I just pay close attention to things and work hard at them like anybody would, Camie.”
She then smirked, the perfect argument to that came in her mind and had it on the tip of her tongue. “Okay, say that to Hero Analysis to the Future: Volume #13! Speaking of, I remember you admitting that you have me on there, can I have a peek? Please, bae~”
She proceeded to give Izuku puppy eyes, knowing that would pull at her shy green bestie´s heart strings.
“I-I mean, sure Camie! I-It isn´t that interesting though…” He muttered, happy that she wanted to see the latest results of his hobby but at the same time scared of her reaction.
He passed her Volume #13, and she opened right on her entry, thanks to the help of the index at the start of the notebook.
“Wait… Holdupholdupholduphold up!!! OMG Izuku-kun, do I seriously serve this hard???” Camie blushed heavily, impressed by the amount of detail about her Quirk Glamour, and the amazing drawing of her wearing Aldera´s uniform on one of the corners of the page.
Izuku blushed like a tomato, but gathered the courage to speak honestly to her, it´s the least he could do, right? “W-W-Well, to me yeah…” He smiled at her, scratching the back of his head in nervousness. “I´ve always seen you that way, to be honest, you´re amazing on the inside and anybody would be lucky to have you in their life; but you have this allure to you, the way your hair glows in the sun, your confident and bright smile…!”
He continued, grinning ear to ear to himself, speaking in such a low voice only Camie herself could understand what he was saying. “I know you have confidence in yourself, that´s one of your main green flags… But I´ll gladly remind you daily how awesome Camie Utsushimi is, how lucky I have been to have met her, and to have her as my favorite person in the whole world!” concluded Izuku, eyes shining in admiration towards the one person that changed his life for the better.
Camie´s eyes widened, not expecting such an emotionally charged answer out of the shy green bean. “Awww, that was soooooo totes cute~!” glomped the blonde, internally gushing about Izuku. She then thought back to when they first met; it was back in 7th grade, in their first day as Aldera Junior High students. The day went as usual, for opposite reasons; Camie made new friends and became the school queen quite quickly, while Izuku spent his day alone with his analysis books, and was getting bullied by Bakugo and the rest of his cronies.
`Hey nerd, still thinking about being a hero? ´ Bakugo and his group grinned evilly, circling Izuku in an attempt to intimidate and convince him to let go of his impossible dream. ´I told you already, give it up! You got no chance, I´ll be the only one out of this shithole to make it and be the best, you hear me?! Unless you want me to make an example out of you when someone defies me…! ´ He then opened his palms, let out a few explosions from his hands, one of those just beside Izuku´s head, leaving a part of the wall singed.
`W-well Kacchan, UA is planning to get rid of the quirk requirement for the entrance exams, so you never know, right? No matter what it takes, I´ve got to give it a chance, even if the stacks are against me…! ´ Izuku steeled himself against his bully and ex-childhood best friend, having gathered the courage to respond back, and to stand on his beliefs. Bakugo stopped walking away, and turned towards him with a scowl on his face and a vein bulging on his forehead. “DEKU, YOU DAMN BAST- “
“Are you sure you wanna hit him while I´m around?” A voice called out from around the corner, belonging to a certain blonde school queen. “Now imagine if you did that in my presence, Mr. `Everyone bow down to me´, what would happen if I were to spread this little incident?” Everyone looked to the direction the sound went from, the extras, as Bakugo would call them, widened their eyes, recognizing who that voice belonged to: Camie Utsushimi, Aldera´s most popular student.
“Why is she here? Why would she protect m- “
“…Tch. You got lucky this time, Deku.” Bakugou and the rest walked away, realizing them staying could potentially mean their future may be ruined before it even starts. Camie walked towards Izuku, putting a hand on his shoulder. “Hey, you good? Seriously, bullies are the worst; that was soooo not lit of them.” Izuku looked at her like she grew a second head, and a question mark over his.
“U-um, lit?”
“Yeah, lit! Means cool. Anyways, bullying is a sore spot for me, being mocked for the way that I talk. The name´s Camie Utsushimi, and you are?”
“I-Izuku Midoriya! Nice to meet you, and thank you for protecting me, even if you didn´t need to…”
“…-mie? Camie? Are you okay?” Izuku asked, with his hands on her shoulders, worried. She blinked then shook her head, laughing a bit.
“My bad bae, I got lost remembering when we first met! You´re welcome by the way, that was very demure of me, I know.” She decided to cross her arms and had a smug face, kira-kira effects around her; while Izuku sweat dropped.
“Why are you so smug about it… Anywho, I´m glad you´re okay, that´s a good memory for me too, that´s when I realized…”
“Huh? What do you mean?” Camie questioned, curious.
“That was the first time someone believed in me. Not even my own mom did, and I don´t hold that against her, she had good intentions behind it; still, it hurt bad, and for so long I was stuck in a place mentally where all I had was my dream. Then you appeared, and it´s like you gave me the shot of motivation I needed to get out of that slump…” Izuku muttered. “Thanks to you, I know I´m going to be a great hero, Quirk or no Quirk, through my will, hard work and dedication!”
Camie gasped and her eyes started watering, now understanding fully how his life was before she saved him that day, and that her first action as a future hero created the start of a domino effect, changing him for the better.
“Izuku-kun…!”
