    Because John was trying not to ask for too much. He knew what Bucky had been through. Knew how hard it was for him to trust anyone with that scarred, private part of himself that even his therapists only got glimpses of. So John told himself to be patient. Told himself not to push.

    He tried to let it go. Told himself that what they had was already more than he’d ever expected. That it had taken months to get here. And for god’s sake, don’t ruin it. Don’t be the guy who needs too much. Who demands answers before the ink’s dry.

    So yeah, maybe Bucky wasn’t going anywhere.

    But John was still waiting for him to arrive.
