Inko Ego.
A 2-time U-20 World Cup winner.
The youngest and best upcoming female striker.
Also called "the Saviour of Japan's football" because of how incredible she was. Loved by all of Japan, Inko was a tall girl with an average build but was lot stronger and more agile than she looked. Her jet-black hair reached her chin and straight bangs that touched her eyebrows made her glare harsher. Looking similar to her brother, Jinpachi Ego, they shared signature cold, dark grey eyes that were perfect for glaring into people's souls. Despite the 13 years ago gap, making Inko 17 nearly 18, they shared a similar appearance, Inko being the better looking one, of course.
However, Inko had no interest in soccer. In her mind, if given the choice, soccer should be banner everywhere because of how stupid it was. Inko was only fawned over because people like the JFU were incompetent rich assholes who had nothing better to do than claw over some high schooler because their strikers absolutely sucked.
"Blue Lock? Tch, that's a dumb name. What, for the female league are they going to call it Pink Lock?" Inko scowled while stepping out of the car.
For whatever reason, Jinpachi Ego had been selected to be manager of this Blue Lock program, and now they were getting a first look at the building blueprints and crew. Not to mention, they were going to be selecting candidates across Japan for this dump program.
"In time, I will have created the perfect striker for Japan, just like I did you." Jin said pushing up his glasses in a weird way. Like one of those supervillains about to reveal their final plan.
Inko glanced at him and scrunched her nose. "Tch. Yeah, yeah, whatever, old man."
Walking into the abnormally tall building, Inko got a sense of Deja Vu. About two years earlier, she got an offer from the JFU that allowed her to play on their female U-20 team. After declining many times, she caved in due to salary and became homeschooled to play full time for them. While also sacrificing a high school scholarship worth plenty of yen. Two years later, Inko was the highest paid soccer player in all of Japan and was now being dragged into this dumb Blue Lock Project for professional input.
Now, Inko was never one to judge someone's appearance (LIAR) but after looking into the meeting and seeing all the fat, rich, assholes sitting in their chair, she wanted to laugh at them. But they were fat, rich, and assholes so it was okay.
"The Ego family never disappoints! Mr. Ego (their father) is a big-time company owner who has been thriving for years now, Jinpachi Ego about to be manager of the Blue Lock Project. Not to mention he used to be rivals with Noel Noa, am I right? Then Miss Inko is the true star of the show, the savior of women's football."
"Don't touch me, I'm a minor." Inko said slapping the fat man's hand off her shoulder while glaring into his head.
"Damn your family is just...full of...wonderful people, aren't ya?"The man struggled to keep his composure while keeping on a fake smile as both Ego's began to glare at him.
"I don't have time to waste on idle chit chat." Jin said glaring at him before a woman stepped in the room while carrying some documents. The woman was super pretty, short but held herself in a way that made sure no one would question her authority. Inko couldn't remember where she had seen her, but she looked familiar.
The fat gross man wrapped an arm around her and ignored her uncomfortable face while introducing her to them, "This is Anri, the founder of this project and the one who has selected you as the manager of Blue Lock."
"Good evening, Ego and Inko-san. Anri Teieri, the one person who has any sense of who to win in this place. That's enough chit-chat for now, let's get started."
Hm. Someone straight forward, determined and blunt about what she wanted. Inko was already starting to like this woman. They were led to a room where Anri explained everything and soon Inko dozed off into her own sleeping world. Not paying any attention to what they had to say or do. Besides, other than input of players, she wasn't really needed here. The only reason she was here so early, was to be nosey for her soccer team and manager.
♡♡♡♡♡
Inko awoke with a frown on her face as she felt a flick on her head, already knowing it was her brother.
"What?" She snapped.
"Get up, we're already looking at recruits without you."
Rolling her eyes, Inko sat up with a blanket clinging to her and a warm cup of coffee sitting in front of her. Anri smiled at her from across the table and motioned to the coffee pot a few feet away, "More if you'd like, this is going to take a while."
Inko was slightly skeptical of the coffee but as the most warming flavours hit her tongue, she was instantly won over by Anri. Normally Inko was a brash, cold, and rude girl, but with coffee and sweets, she could be bribed and swayed.
Choosing candidates was incredibly difficult because most of them were not cutout, lukewarm, or just didn't have the ego to play was a striker. After several hours, three hours but felt longer due to how boring it was, Inko had selected a totally of 54 players, Jin had 21, and Anri had chosen the rest. Only a few she had chosen stood out and the moment she walked out that door, she was probably going to forget every single one.
Those being: Ranze Kurona, Gin Gagumaru, Kenyu Yukimiya, Ikki Niko, Reo Mikage, Rensuke Kunigami and Aryu Jyubei.
But alas, those names slipped from her mind the moment her foot hit outside the door. She held to warm coffee in her hand as Jin was pulled away by the fat ugly man from earlier. The two girls stood awkwardly outside while waiting for them.
"You don't happen to recognize me, right?" Anri said smiling at the younger.
Inko shrugged, "Not really."
"No surprises, I used to be an assistant of the woman that scouted you out. I remember getting your letter's declining us and how frustrated they got. When you came in, I was the person who led you to her room, it's no surprise you didn't recognize me. But, ever since your first world cup win, you've really inspired me. Other than the big loss in 2018, seeing how one person, being you, changed the entirety of soccer, I wanted that for all of Japan. So, I proposed we create Blue Lock and looking into your family I found Jinpachi Ego. But you've always been like this standard that male japanese must reach to me, now with the plans we have today, I believe we can do it."
Inko smiled a little, rare for the young girl, "Um, thanks. But it's really just talent, I don't have any actual interest in soccer."
Anri still kept a smile, "Oo, what are your interests then? I figure since we'll be working together, we should get to know each other some more. Aw, no pressure though"
Inko froze. What did she like? Ever since being a full-time soccer player, she had never really thought of anything else. Although, she always had a passion for art when she was younger. But would she actually enjoy doing art for a living. "Art, I guess. I've never really thought about anything else."
The girls began talking more, and Inko was starting to like Anri more, she felt like mother figure in a way. Inko was a tough person who didn't really like other people, but Anri was nice, made amazing coffee and warm despite having a more formal side.
Suddenly the doors to the office slammed open, scaring the shit out of Inko and she jumped backwards. Bad idea. Well fuck. Inko stared wide eyed at the broken vase she had knocked down by pure accident. Well God fucking damn it. She rolled her eyes as the fat man walked over, exclaiming the vase was 700,000 yen.
Huh. It what world should a vase be that much, besides it was like pocket change for her. However, the angry look on her brother face told her money wasn't going to the the only way she'd have to pay back.
'This action will have consequences.'
