Work Text:
Char suddenly flinched, and put a hand to his temple. Amuro looked at the other man with concern.
“Headache. Still haven’t managed to get used to them.” The lieutenant bit out, squeezing his eyes shut.
“You’ve been getting headaches? Amuro tilted his head. This was the first he’d heard of it.
“Migraines to be more accurate.” Char reached for his parka. He removed a small pill bottle from one of the pockets. “It’s an unfortunate and uncommon side effect of presenting as a newtype. Got lucky.”
The lieutenant removed two small red pills from the container, before quickly swallowing them.
Amuro handed Char his canteen.
“Do the others on the Argama know?”
Char made a face. Amuro had a feeling it wasn't from the bitter medicine.
“And have everyone concerned about me? There’s no benefit to that.” Char took a swig of water. “I can manage on my own.”
“There’s only so many pills you can take, Char.” Amuro said solemnly as he watched Char put the lid back on the pill bottle.
The blonde sighed.
“See, now you’re worrying about me. It’s pointless.”
“Am I not allowed to worry?” Amuro pulled Char closer to him in the cot. “Let me have this. Let me care about you.”
“As if it was that easy.” Char cracked a smile. A stupid, fake smile.
“It is that easy. You tell me you’re hurting and I care.” Amuro locked eyes with the lieutenant. “When you get back to the Argama, talk to Dr. Hasan.”
“I really don’t like making promises I don’t intend to keep.” Char said as he placed the bottle back in the coat.
“I’m not asking you, I’m telling you to.” Amuro put his hand over Char’s.
Char blinked, taken aback with how stubborn Amuro was being about this.
“Is that an order?” Char tilted his head, still smiling. But there was that glint in his eye.
Amuro took a deep breath in before he spoke.
“I'm not talking to you as a captain, I’m talking to you as your stupid boyfriend who doesn’t know a red flag when he sees one. But godddamn it Char- If that’ll make you do it, then yes that’s an order.”
The lieutenant glanced down at their intertwined hands. With a sigh, he met Amuro’s eyes.
“Well, I guess I can't disobey a command from my superior. Consider it done, Captain.”
“Don’t call me that.” Amuro rolled his eyes before leaning his head against Char’s shoulder.
