Chapter Text
I, am a criminal. I won’t even lie, even though I easily could. You know what also lies to you? Your emotions. Don’t trust a single one of those damn things, otherwise, you’ll grow soft, just like that boy I just met. And dropped my ID in front of. After I just committed theft. Not a great chain of events, is it?
What is wrong with me? I sigh and look at the Pokèmon in front of me. Calm down, there’s nothing wrong…but then again, I dropped my shit in front of some cute-looking-
“Wait what?” I say aloud, and my Pokèmon, Totodile looks at me cross-eyed at my sudden response.
“What’s your problem?” I hiss, and it goes back to gnawing on a tree trunk. That’s what I thought. What was I thinking about? Oh yeah, that kid. Gold, wasn’t it?
Gold is the definition of having a soft personality. He’s got grayish eyes and dark blue, almost black hair, with the most radiant smile you could think of. Not that I like it, though. In fact it pisses me off how happy he is. Even after I pushed him around, he was still trying to help me, but I don’t need help, I don’t need anyone. I can be strong all on my own! …Right? Hmph, it’s not for you to answer anyway.
A loud snap and thud is enough to bring my attention back from my thoughts. To my dismay, Totodile had just snapped an entire tree in half with its jaw, though it has been chewing the trunk for a while.
“Totodile, you dumbass! Look what you’ve done, are you happy with yourself?” I yell, and Totodile grins and nods.
“Tch. You weren’t supposed to answer. Now I have to find another place to hide.” I sigh, putting Totodile in its Pokèball. Jeez. What’s it’s problem? Whatever. I gotta get out of here. I think of a new spot, instead of behind Cherrygrove’s Pokèmon Center and as I’m quietly making my way over there, I catch a glimpse of Gold.
“What does he think he’s doing?” I murmur to myself, watching him battle with his Cyndaquil. He’s good, and was able to beat me, but that’s only because I just got my Pokèmon! Next time we battle I’m sure to win. Gold ends the battle with a win, leaving the stupid youngster to accept a bitter defeat. Serves you right, you’re annoying. Gold gives the kid a handshake and gives him some tips on how to Pokèmon battle better, though I don’t understand why you’d want to give away your secrets like that. Suddenly Gold looks my way, and I hide behind a tree, holding my breath and hoping to god he didn’t see me. He walks away, to my relief. I take in a heavy sigh, and then walk deeper into the woods.
I’m not making that mistake again. I think about Gold’s battle style a little longer. Lowering defense to supplement for a bad offense. Hmph, his Cyndaquil looked like a strong Pokèmon when I battled it, but now I know that it’s timid. I’m shocked that Gold even won that battle. Gold seems to be a good person, a little less softer than I imagined beforehand. He’s got a bit of an attitude, and honestly, I like that. I stop walking. Silver, what the hell are you saying? He’s your rival! I shake my head and sigh, when Totodile comes out of its Pokèball. Damnit. Oh well, you can only keep it in there for so long. Totodile wanders over to a small pond and I follow it, thinking about making it learn new moves and powering it up.
“Totodile,” I start and it moves its gaze from a Pokèmon in the pond to me. “It’s training time. Don’t expect this to be easy.” I say, looking for a strong wild Pokèmon to take on. Totodile looks at me excitedly and starts jumping up and down, eager to battle, or maybe, spend time with me. I turn around and start searching for a strong looking Pokèmon that Totodile will have a bit of trouble with.
I’ll make sure that next time, I’ll beat Gold! I know I will!
