Summary
While resupplying in Gulltown during the war of the Stepstones, Daemon Targaryen has an encounter with Rhea Royce and as a result, nine months later, a child is brought into the world. An odd girl, the spitting image of her father, she is raised outside the influence of her Targaryen family until, at the age of eight, she comes to her cousin Rhaenyra in search of the right to claim a dragon.
In the years that follow, Aemond Targaryen, Jacaerys Velaryon, and Roslin Targaryen find themselves entangled in a story of childhood friendship, hatred, and love as their family, and the forces acting against their family, move them like pieces on a board even as they fight to choose for themselves what play they want to make. But as secrets come to light, and strange old magicks of Westeros begin to stir once more, will these three prove themselves worthy enough players to learn who their true enemies are in time to stop their family from devouring itself?
