Chapter Text
Hello.
This is PLEDIS Entertainment.
We would like to update you on the progression of the medical treatment for SEVENTEEN member S.COUPS.
On August 10, S.COUPS sustained a tear to his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in the left knee during a content shoot. After receiving necessary pre-surgery medical treatment as recommended by the medical staff, he underwent surgery to restore his ACL and anterolateral ligament on Monday, 21st.
The surgery was a success, and S.COUPS was discharged from the hospital on Thursday morning, the 24th, and has been resting since.
S.COUPS will be focusing solely on recovery and rehabilitation for the foreseeable future per recommendation from the medical team. To expedite his recovery, S.COUPS will be wearing a leg brace and use crutches and a wheelchair. Once the surgical site is healed, he will undergo physical therapy so that he can return in full health to his fans.
Once the medical team confirms the stable recovery of the surgical area, S.COUPS plans to participate in the second-half schedule with flexibility and within reasonable limits. We ask for your kind understanding.
We will do our best to support S.COUPS in recovering his health, placing his recovery as the top most priority.
Thank you.
It's been a week since the notice, and the company put out a statement about my hiatus. It's only been two weeks since surgery, but somehow, I'm already getting pretty good at doing absolutely nothing. The members drop by every so often, but it still feels pretty lonely being stuck at home. My brother's away on a business trip for three months, and he took Kkuma with him, so it's just me and my thoughts (which, trust me, are not the best company). There's not much to do.
I've ordered food again and settled in to watch a movie. It's the tenth time this week I've done the exact same thing. My life's become this weird cycle of waking up, eating breakfast (thanks to my manager, who must think I'm incapable of making my own food), watching a movie, gaming, napping, answering a member's call, having dinner, and reading a book before falling asleep. And then... repeat. Today marks the tenth day of this routine. If I don't change something soon, I swear I'll turn into a human-shaped couch.
The members have been taking turns visiting me, and today it's Mingyu's turn.
"Hyung, what do you want for dinner?" he asks, clearly worried about my growing takeout habit.
"Kimchi stew," I say.
"All right," he replies, probably relieved I didn't ask for fried chicken again.
"Who's coming tomorrow?" I ask, figuring I should at least be prepared for my next dose of company.
"Shua hyung," Mingyu says.
"Ah, so Hannie's last? I thought we were closer than that," I say, pretending to be heartbroken.
"You know it's not like that," Mingyu laughs. "He's just busy with YSL Fashion Week."
"Right, right. Totally get it," I say, my voice dripping with sarcasm.
"Oh, and Shua hyung was asking if he really had to come over," Mingyu continues, holding back a smile. "He said something about how peaceful his life has become, and he didn't want to 'bring the war' back."
"That brat!" I can't help but laugh, shaking my head.
Mingyu chuckles and hands me the dinner he made.
"Eat up, hyung. I've gotta head home. Wonu hyung wants me to grab him ice cream."
"Of course he does," I say, shaking my head. "Tell him I said hi and that I'm so happy he's living his best life while I sit here with my kimchi stew."
After dinner, I pick up the book I've been reading, but wait... it's the last one. I've officially run out of books. Ordering a new one would take forever, and I'm dangerously close to hitting critical boredom. I quickly text Joshua: "Please, I need a new book."
