Chapter Text
It was raining heavily, the thunder boomed in the pitch black skies and the winds howled like wolves.
"Are you sure you want to head to the northern woods missy, there's nothing but danger and bad news there?" The old man asked as he rode the cart in the heavy rain. His horse being old and aged didnt seem to complain in this horrible weather.
"Yes just, stopped by the entrance of the forest, I can go on a head from there" The woman spoke in a weary yet cautious tone. She already had a twisted ankle from the run she had with a mob 2 hours ago. If it werent for this old man showing up out of blue and hiding herself in his cart of hay, she would have been burned and stake by those humans. She pulled her cloak over her head more then already it was and remain silent, her sliver eyes drench in exhaustion.
"Alright then, But dont saw I didnt warn you. People says that forest is haunted, nothing but blood and death and for young woman like yourself going there is just a bad omen for me" The old man spoke back in lack concern, he actually didnt cared at all, he was mildly drunk and was already on his 3rd bottle of wine as he snapped the reins of his horse to go faster, the heavy rain unfazed him and he swear under his alcoholic breath as it was hard to see due to the massive rain drops. " Though you're lucky I'm only letting you ride this cart ,only because you promised me a gemstone you had right?"
"Yes and I assure you it's price is worthful" She answered back, giving the old drunk man a uninterested look. She was exhausted and wanted to reach the forest fast, go to the village she heard so much about and for once find a proper place to rest. " Are we there yet?" She asked in a fatigue mixed annoyed look.
"Keep your clothes on missy. I trying my best to get you there fast, It's not like I can magically flew you there if cant and trust me. I dont want nothing more to reach you there faster, that forest isnt my place to be" He said as he chug down the bottle of wine like a pig and she grimaced at him in disgust. Serene knew she could use her magic on him, possibly turn him into a rat or a pig since the description fit him, she just wanted to get there fast as possible, after all if the man finds out she is a witch well that would be asking for another angry mob.
"hmm!" she winced at her ankle injury, feeling it throb now and possibly swollen red in her long boot that had a broken sole below...she needed new shoes too. She kept herself composed, trying to keep her annoyance aside until what seems like eternity they soon arrived near the forest.
"Pleasure doing business with you missy" The old man spoke slurring alittle as the drunken efforts began to display on his flush alcoholic face. She didnt say much but throw her sliver gemstone to him and a small sapphire stone.
"Make sure you dont tell anyone I'm here" She added and explain the reason behind the additional stone as a payment before she walked inside the forest, disappearing in the forests.
The old man looked at him in slight shock, though thrilled at the expensive gem in his hand.
"Dont mind if I do, crazy lady. Tonight is my lucky night" He spoke to himself, holding a disgusting toothless smile as he kissed the stones and soon rode away, urging his horse to return back.
Serene kept journey down the path of the dark forest, she walked limb, the rain still falling on top of her heavily. She desperately needed a prominent place to stay. She already try every place in england to stay yet always ended hunted by mob, with pitch fork and torches. over 100 villages she tried but no where she was welcome and now after arriving here in Rome. she was curious to see the village in this so called " haunted" forest. The forest own by this famous Alucard no less.
"As long as I keep myself conceal perfectly this time like a ordinary mortal, I'm sure I will succeed living here peacefully" She said in determination, tired of running and being haunted as she kept walking, unfazed by the heavy storm.
