The sound of hammer crushing metal echoed around the hills of green hill.
Stone stared at the group of 4 colourful Animals as he sank to his knees.
He had lost.
Again.
The villain couldn't help the hitch in his breath as he spoke,
“i… don't understand…”
“Why do you keep winning?”
Stone thought of not only his own battles with the blue menace and his crew, but the doctor's, how the hedgehog always ended up winning.
“Is it because of your speed..?”
He hated how his voice began to shake.
“My machines are just as fast as you.”
His eyes were beginning to burn.
“Or is it because of your team?”
He staggered in a breath.
“Because I built an army..”
Stone sagged forward as he felt tears begin to run down his cheeks.
“Maybe it's because you're fighting for the ones you love?”
He buried his face in his hands.
“didn't i love him as well?”
He sobbed.
“was my love not good enough?”

Stone dropped his hands to his lap and stared at them for a bit, tears still streaming down his cheeks.
“Am.. I just not good enough..?”
