Sami is probably the luckiest person in the world, he would like to think. He's somewhere in Florida, sitting in a busy restaurant, across the table from the most wonderful man in the universe. Jey isn't even paying attention to him, scrolling through something on his phone, occasionally giggling. Sami could sit here like this all day, just watching Jey's eyes light up, watching the way the sun traces over his face. Given the option he absolutely would sit like this all day, but he's waiting for their check so that they can leave. They have no plans for the rest of the day, they're meeting up with some of Jey's family tomorrow, and the younger man had insisted that they go to his favorite restaurant at least once when he made sure they had a vegan menu for the older man. Sami is never one to deny his boy anything within reason, and even then he'd try to get him the moon if he asked for it.
They're walking out of the restaurant in silence, Sami letting the warmth of the sun soak into his face, when he feels a gentle tug on the sleeve of his shirt. He turns around, making sure they're not standing in the middle of the sidewalk, before he takes Jey's phone that he's holding out to him, looking at the screen. It's the location of an arcade about 5 minutes away from them, and when he looks back up, Jey has a pleading look on his face.
“Please? We don't have any other plans today, I checked.” He's still holding onto Sami's sleeve, rubbing the fabric between his fingers as he waits for a response. Sami pretends to think about it, the corners of his lip curling into a smile while he does.
“Well I don't see why not.”
Jey throws his arms up with a shout of excitement, smiling widely. Sami laughs and continues leading them to the car, arm wrapped around Jey's shoulders as he practically hops in excitement. The car ride is filled with the younger man's excited humming as he drums on his knees with his hands. He practically throws himself out the car when they get to the arcade, bouncing up and down on the heels of his feet while he waits for Sami to buy their tickets. Jey immediately drags them over to the ski-ball, determined he can beat whatever score Sami gets.
“I think you're cheating.”
“You can't cheat at ski-ball baby!” Sami waves his arms around as he speaks, chuckling when Jey huffs and throws his head back.
“No, I think you're cheating. There's no possible way you've gotten the high score everytime uce.”
“I literally do not know what to tell you!” Sami stares at Jey, trying to be serious and glare at him, but they both break within seconds, giggling and leaning against each other as Jey demands a rematch. They go to any game that catches the younger man's eye, Sami more than happy to hold the other's winning tickets in his arms. He's happier watching Jey's face light up and hearing his laugh than he could be actually playing any of the games. They get to one of those racing games, the ones where they have you sit down and actually press the pedals and move the steering wheel, when Sami notices it. He's acting the way he usually does when gets overwhelmed after a match, he's acting little. There's none of that usual shyness though, no hints of anxiety, just joy. Childlike joy, and it's wonderful. He doesn't even think Jey's noticed it, and he's not gonna point it out, he just makes a mental note to make sure to keep an extra close eye on him, not wanting anything bad to happen.
By the time they call it a day, Sami's practically swimming in the little winning tickets, and he lets Jey drag him over to one of those counting machine things. He wraps an arm around Jey's shoulder as the younger man feeds the machine the tickets, pressing a kiss on the side of his head when he's sure no one is looking. Jey giggles, turning to look at him.
“What's that for?”
“Nothing, just wanted to kiss my baby.” His answer makes Jey's cheeks flush and he smiles, quickly pecking Sami's nose.
Sami follows the younger man to the prize counter, watching as he picks out what he wants to get. He settles with a few lollipops and a mini version of the WWE championship belt, and he laughs the entire time the person is grabbing it to hand to him. He still has about half the tickets left over so he turns to Sami to ask what he wants.
“Close your eyes.”
Jey scrunches his eyebrows in confusion. “Why?”
“Because it's a surprise habibi. Now close your eyes.”
Jey huffs put does as he's told, putting his hands over his eyes and leaning on the counter. Sami points at a stuffed turtle, holding it inside his jacket once he's handed it. He remembers that early on into dating Jey had mentioned that his favorite animal was a sea turtle, and anytime he gets the younger man anytime turtle related, his smile is worth any amount of money spent on it. Plus, he figures it's about time he gets his baby a stuffed animal anyways.
“Do I not get to see it?”
“Not until we get to the hotel.”
“Oh come on!” Jey groans but walks with Sami out of the arcade. The sun is starting to set by now, and the glow is making everything look so beautiful. Jey pesters him the entire time they're driving back to the hotel, but he doesn't give in, even when Jey pulls out the pouting face, which Sami will admit almost broke him. Jey's distracted when they get to the hotel, too busy taking his socks and shoes off to ask again, so Sami places the turtle down on the table and slides his jacket off.
Jey calls from where he's standing, shoving his shoes in the corner, “Can I see it now?”
Sami hums, coming up from behind Jey to wrap his arms around his waist. He turns them towards the table, and smiles when he hears Jey gasp. He lets Jey go to grab the turtle, holding it carefully against his chest.
“It's for you.”
Jey's head whips up at his words, smiling softly. “Really?”
“Really, habibi. All for you.”
Jey throws himself forward, one hand still clutching onto the turtle, using the other to wrap around Sami in a hug.
“Thank you so much tamā.”
Sami smiles, watching as Jey pets at the turtle with a soft look on his face, and he kisses the top of the younger man's head. “Of course baby boy, I'm glad you had fun.”
Jey starts to babble about how much fun he had, stumbling around his words, but Sami just smiles and pulls him closer to his body, content to sit here forever and listen to him talk.
