Work Text:
Punk closes his locker, picks up his bag, and turns to leave the room.
“Hey Punk-”
“OH SHIT-” Punk recoils in shock, scrambling away from where an amused Randy Orton is leaning against the door. Punk puts a hand on his chest, inhaling deeply to calm down his heart. He thought that he was alone in the room, but obviously he was wrong. Randy, thankfully, doesn't comment on his reaction and instead waits for him to calm down before he starts talking to Punk again.
“I need a favor.”
Punk scoffs, raising up an eyebrow. “Why would I do anything for you?”
“It's not for me, it's for Cody.”
At the mention of the younger man, Punk feels a bit of the strain in his shoulders lessen, and he's suddenly much more happy to hear what Randy has to say. He hasn't had contact with either of the two men since the time he stayed in the locker room with Cody, and even then Randy hardly nodded at Punk in thanks when he came to scoop up the blonde and leave Punk alone. He hums, signaling Randy to continue what he was saying.
“I have a match in a few minutes-”
“I know that, I can read a schedule.”
“Will you let me finish?” Randy huffs, just stopping himself from rolling his eyes. “I have a match, and I can't leave Cody alone. It'll be at least a few hours, too long for him. Can he go home with you?”
“You want me to, what? Babysit him?” Punk's not saying it to be mean, he just likes the way it makes Randy huff.
“Please, Punk.”
Punk's eyes widen and the corners of his mouth curl up into a smirk. He'd never thought he'd see the day the Randy Orton would be asking him for something, would be saying please for something. He wants to dangle this over the younger man's head, but he has a soft spot for the blonde, so he nods.
“Where is he?”
“Out there.” Randy sighs in relief and shoves a small bag into Punk's arms, motioning outside the door. “That's all his stuff, I have to go. Thank you bye, love you baby boy!” His last words are obviously not directed at him, and rushed as he practically sprints down the hallway, leaving Punk to struggle to grab ahold of the extra bag, flinging it over his shoulder and scanning the room for Cody. He sees the younger man on a bench, kicking his feet back and forth while he waits patiently.
“Hey Codes.”
Cody flings his face up, eyes lighting up as he looks at Punk, smiling at him. He brings his hand up in a wave, squirming where he's sitting. Punk walks over to him and awkwardly grabs his hand around the bags, smiling.
“You're gonna come home with me, ok?”
“Ok!”
Cody's very obviously little already, as Randy had warned, and he clings onto Punk's side as they walk into the car. Punk makes sure to send a quick text over to Drew and Aj while he helps Cody get buckled into the seat. He shuffles through the bag Randy gave him quickly, pulling out a soft honey colored teddy bear and handing it to Cody. The younger expects it with much joy, tucking the stuffed animal against his chest and thanking Punk while he does so. The ride goes smoothly, Cody babbling about his match earlier, running his hands through the stuffed bear's fur while he speaks. Punk notices his lisp is way more prominent when he's little, but he doesn't say anything, there's no reason to. They pull up to Punk's house and Cody hesitates when he goes to get out of the car, biting at his lip.
“Punk?”
Punk hums, turning to face the blonde.
“Will um,” He's squeezing the bear now, not making eye contact with the older man. “Will Aj be ok with me?”
He looks so worried and Punk can't help but immediately lean forward to pull him into a hug, smoothing his hand over his hair and cooing at him.
“Of course she will. So will Drew.”
Cody's eyes widen at the mention of Drew, and before he can start panicking about that, Punk starts talking again.
“They'll love you Codes, I promise. They love and accept me, you'll be no different.” He holds out his pinky finger and waits for Cody to wrap his own finger around Punk's, and he smiles softly at the younger man. They get out of the car, Punk grabbing their bags and leading them to the front door. The moment he opens it, they're greeted by a very excited Larry, and Cody gasps, leaning down to pet him.
“Hey guys!” Aj's voice is sweet as she approaches them, softly kissing Punk before she turns to Cody, waving at him. He waves back shyly, most of his attention still on Larry, and Aj smiles at the motion. She takes the bags from Punk, even though he does protest, and leads them to the living room where Drew is sitting. Punk practically throws himself at the scot, wrapping him in a hug, while Cody does his shy wave thing again, worrying his lip between his teeth as he does so.
“How did your match go?”
Cody startles, obviously not expecting to be asked a question, but he sits down on the couch, answering the scot's questions anyway. Punk shuffles so that he can wrap and arm around Cody and lay his legs on Drew's lap, and Cody leans into his touch, squishing his bear between the two of them. He's still babbling away when Aj returns with something in her hands. He can't exactly see what it is at this angle, but Cody does if his soft gasp is anything to go by. He waits until Drew is finished with what he's saying before he turns to Aj.
“Miss Aj?” Punk can actually see the moment his wife decides that she would absolutely die for the blonde sitting on her couch, and he smiles, seeing Drew do the same thing out of the corner of his eye. “Can I please color?”
Turns out she had been holding some paper and a box of crayola crayons behind her back, and she very happily hands it over to Cody. She turns to hold out a paper to Punk, and he wants to deny it, say that he's fine, but he finds that he really suddenly does want to color, so he grabs the paper and moves so sit down in front of the coffee table where Cody has moved to sit. “Thanks mama.”
Cody's scribbling nonsense, he thinks it's supposed to be Larry, so he leans against the younger man and starts drawing on his page next to him. Aj and Drew are still sitting on the couch, wrapped around each other as they watch the two boys giggle and poke each other with the crayons occasionally, smiling at each other the whole time. Another one of Drew's rom-coms -he can deny it all he wants, they're his, not Aj's- plays on the tv, but no one is paying attention to it. Eventually the two on the couch get up to go figure out something to make for the four of them for dinner, and Punk notices that Cody keeps yawning. It's the fifth time in two minutes that he's yawned, and so he turns to face the blonde.
“You tired Codes?”
“Mhm.” Cody hums in affirmation, but he doesn't say anything, just focused on his drawing. Punk suddenly remembers something he saw while he was looking for the bear, and so he gets up and heads to the bedroom. He rummages through Cody's bag until he finds what he wants, and grabs a blanket off the bed too. He comes back to Cody looking at him, eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
“C'm here.” Punk sits down on the couch and pats next to him. Cody carefully sets down his crayons and moves to sit down on the couch. Punk moves them so they're laying down, the younger man's head on Punk's chest, holding his bear close to his face. Punks pulls the light blue pacifier out of his pocket, handing it over to Cody, moving the blanket over the two of them. By the time he's situated, he looks down to see Cody with his eyes already shut, breathing peacefully around the pacifier. Punk wraps his arms around the younger man, closing his eyes too, and that's how Drew and Aj find them when they come back to tell them they'll probably just get takeout. Asleep and wrapped around each other with Larry laying over the blanket by their feet, the sounds of the tv playing softly in the background.
