Living and Leaving

Summary:

Dominic never regret meeting and getting to know Avery. Having her in his life was an affirming experience. But she always told him: Time changes faster then you think.
Spending time together was a pure joy and for sure pleasuring. But it can’t be like that forever? Right?

Notes:

I have no excuses for writing this, I just wanted to read this. and maybe someone else will enjoy it too.

Chapter 1: Starting good things

Chapter Text

*Hello my desire. Can you pick up the smol boy later?*

Dominic laid the phone down on the counter and begins to unload the groceries. When he was done his phone was buzzing.

*Hello handsome. Sure. I’m at the gym right now. After it I’ll pick him up.*

*Thanks beautiful. I’m going out with the Shadowhunter gang tonight. When do you want me to take him back? Tomorrow?*

*Sounds good. Time?*

*11 am*

*Thanks. See you later.*

He was tired from the early flight back and fell asleep soon. And his dog disappeared in the bedroom.

Avery knocked at the door the second time when it finally opened. She has the spare key to his apartment but never used it. Dominic looked sleepy and exhausted.
“Hello handsome.” She smiled and walked inside.
His eyes lit up a little bit. “Sweaty and hot.” He just said and hugged her. His hands were moving under her hoodie and he felt the lace on her back. “Wonderful.” He mumbled to her neck.
“Hey stop that behaviour.” She laughed and kissed his cheek.
“Thanks for picking him up.”
“No problem.” She pushed her upper body a little apart from his. “You look exhausted.”
“I am. But I’m happy seeing you right now.”
“Yeah. I can feel that.” She raised an eyebrow and looked down between them. Their hips were pressed together. And she could feel his length.
She only got a cocky smile I respond. His hands were wandering down to her hip. “Is that the black lace body you wore when we first met?”
“Of course it is. You love it?”
“I admire you in it.” He kissed her neck and smiled brightly.
“Alright. Lift me up and bring me to the kitchen.” She ordered and her thumb touched his lips. Stroked the sensitive skin and he parted his lips at this movement from her. Yeah, he would love to kiss her now. But none of them made the first step.

With a grin he lifted her up and walked them to the kitchen. He took a bottle of water from the fridge and sat her down at the counter.
Averys legs were wrapped around his hip. She drank the water and let him watch her.

“This was really hot.” He snarled as she put down the half empty bottle.
“So where are you guys going?” She asked and lifted herself near him. Hands wandering up his body.
“Don’t know. Matt and Esther will pick me up. In two hours.”
“You need a better outfit than your usual flight clothes.”
“Wanna help me?”
She whispered to his ear: “Only if I can see you half naked.”
“And I should stop teasing you?”
She placed a kiss on his jaw and huffed when he lifted her up again.

Dominic threw her to the bed and opened his wardrobe. She giggled and crouched over to the pillows. His dog left out a howl of excitement when she stroked his fur.
“There is my smol boy.”
The golden retriever looked at her and startet wobbling with his tail. “Wanna spend the night with me? Yes? Are you excited?”

A few moments later Dominic came back from the bathroom only wearing a towel around his hip. “Better?”
“Better.” Her face became lucidly when she looked at his body with heavy breathing. “Looks like you needed a cold shower.”
“Every time I’m with you.” He laid down next to her on the bed.
“So what you want to wear?” She took a look at the open wardrobe and stood up.
“Don’t know.” He grumbled and turned on his back.
“You wanna get laid?” She turned around and lifted her hoodie over head and threw it away.
“By you?”
“Funny. But no.”
“Nah I’m good.” He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. “We start by getting dinner and probably ending up in a bar.”

Avery grab some clothes and hangs them in the bathroom before she crawls back to the bed.
“What’s wrong handsome?”
“Just exhausted.”
“You don’t have to go. Your friends will understand.”
“I’m fine. Just wish you would be there too.”
“Thank you but still no. Last the time I had to pick you up, you tried to seduce me.”
“I’m still trying to.” He laughed.
“I know.”
The silence between became thick and lusty when both touched each other’s skin. Hands running up and down on the skin. Kissing different parts of each other.

Another time someone was knocking on his door when both were still cuddled together.
“Come in.” Dominic yelled from the bedroom.

Matt and Esther peeked a look at them.
“Gosh.” Matt said and backed away.
“Look who’s there.” Esther said with an amused smile.
“Hello Esther.” Avery sat up on Dominic’s hips.
“Are you two finally having a situationship?”
“Does it look like it?” Avery responded.
“Sometimes yes.” Esther gave Dominic a grin and left the bedroom.
“I think you should get dressed. Or do you need a cold shower again?” She pushed her hip forwards to earn a groan from him.

With a cocky laugh she lifted herself up and picked up her hoodie.
“Come on smol boy. Adventures are waiting for us.”
She left the bedroom and the golden retriever followed her patiently.

In the living room she saw Matt blushing and waved at him. “Hi there.”
“Hi.” He looked down.
“And bye. Have fun.” She left the apartment and went down the hallway with the dog following her.

“Hi.” Dominic made his way to the living room now fully dressed.
“You should ask her for a date.” Matt blurted out.
“I know.”
“You are totally head over heels for her. I can’t remember when you’re not talking about her. Or seen you guys literally making out every time you near. And your dog loves her.”
“I know.” Anger flushed up in his gut.
“She has your spare key and is always there when you need her.”
“I know.” Dominic just kept saying.
“Dom?” Matt looked at him with a neutral face. “For gods sakes you have to ask her out.”
“I can’t.” He responded and looked at Esther for help.
“Let’s go.” She clapped her hands and grabbed her bag.
Both men followed her. With silence.

Avery took a long hot shower and a cold one right after it. She couldn’t believe they never kissed since there got to know each other.
Desire was burning inside both of them. But was there a good time to start something with him? I could be possible that she has to leave tomorrow. Being a soldier isn’t that easy to have a healthy relationship.

She left the bathroom and looked at the sleeping dog on her bed. He snorted loudly when she dropped herself next to him.
She startet Netflix and watched some true crime stories when she almost fell asleep.

Her phone was buzzing on her nightstand.

*Miss you here. You were right I should had stayed home.*

She sighed in the dark. It was almost 11 o clock. He was out there with his friends. Yeah, she missed him too. But getting drunk and talking all night isn’t her thing.
She stood up and picked some clothes for herself. Then she took the dog with her to the elevator.

Avery made a photo of them and send it to Dominic with the message: Going for a walk with the smol boy.

He didn’t hesitated and send an answer.

*Wtf*

*Do we look good or not?*

Yes, she was teasing him now. Knowing he would love to see her in that new dress she bought a few days ago.

*Yes. Very very hot.*

*Thanks. Have fun. See you tomorrow*

“Ask her for a date.” Matt grumbled next to him.
“What? Now?” Dominic put the phone down.
“Why not?”
“It isn’t that easy. She can get her call tomorrow and then she is gone. Do you what that for yourself?”
“Just try.” Matt snapped at him and everyone stopped talking. “Trying and failing is better than teasing every time you’re around each other.”
“What if…” Dominic begins to ask when Kat blurted out: “It doesn’t matter. Go get her.”

“Listening guys. I’m not with you. If Dominic wants to go on a date he will ask her.” Esther gave him an encouraging look.
“Thanks.” He mumbled and watched his friends going silent.
Esther ordered shots for everyone.
And the chatting started again.

*Are you still walking with smol boy?*

*Yes. Should I pick up and bring home?*

*Sounds like a great plan.*

***

Avery made her way to the bar and passed a lot of drunk people. She didn’t fear these people but it made her uncomfortable.
She knew exactly what alcohol does to people and their personalities.
“Wow a hot one.” Someone yelled at her and she could smell beer and Whiskey even when they’re a few feet away.
“Thank you and now go home.” She stated and speeded up her steps.
Her hand touched the door handle and the other was strangled to the leash as someone touched her shoulder. A gasp came out of her when she turned around.
“Kat.” She put out with a relieved breath. “What are you doing outside the bar?”
“Just needed a fresh breath of air.”
“What are you doing here?”
“Dominic asked me to pick him up.”
“Oh ok.” Kat glances around, no one was near them. “So you do everything he asks you?”
“Kat. It’s not like that.” Was her only response.
“What do you really want from him?”
“I don’t think this is your business. And if you want him go for it. I’m not in your way.”
“No. Sorry. I just care about him and I don’t want him get hurt.”
Both women stare each other for a moment. And a loud laugh escaped Kat.

“Gosh. I should’ve tell you that before.”
“Nah. I’m good. Listen Kat.” Avery started and walked a little away from the door. “He’s hot. He’s famous. And yes I know some women want him just because of that. Yeah. I know all that. But that doesn’t mean I hook up with because of that. We met in the gym. We both felt a wired connection and yeah we wanted to hook up. But we never did.”
Kat noticed Avery’s struggling with her words. “Good to know that you don’t think of him like other women.”
“I do. I really do. I just can’t have a one night stand. I’m all in or nothing.”
“And your behaviour with him? What’s up with that?”
“Damn Kat. I have eyes. And I know he’s that kind of hot. So you want me to ignore my burning desire?”
Avery only got a loud laugh from Kat in response.
“Let’s go inside.” Avery giggled and pulled the door open.

Loud music filled the bar. A heavy smell of alcohol filled up her lungs. “Gosh.” She grumbled and glanced around. “Where are they?”
“Follow me.” Kat grabbed her hand and guided her through the crowd.

“Look who I met outside.” She yelled against the loud music.
Everybody turned around and Esther was the first that gave her a heartwarming smile.
“Hi.” Avery waved at them and watched around. Dominic wasn’t there.
“You’re missing someone?” Alberto grinned.
“Yeah. The guy that told me to pick him up.”
“He used to go to the bathroom.” Alberto answered.
“Ok.”
“So you’re looking hot in your dress.” Harry snarled and looked down on her.
“I always look that kind of hot.” Avery muttered more to herself.

He saw her the moment when he came back. A dark blue dress, silky and waving around her hip. He got sweaty hands and wants to burry his lips in her neck. His tongue swirled around his mouth. Yeah. He would love to ripped down this dress from her.

He made his way through the crowd and ended up behind her. Carefully he put his hands on her hips and pushed them upwards. “Really hot.” He snarled at his ear.
Without a second she turned around and faced him.
The dog tangled them with his leash and forced their bodies tight together.
“Someone is happy to see you.” She grinned and buried her lips in his neck. Her tongue slip over his sensitive skin.
“So am I.” He whispered back und took a deep breath. He felt his desire burning.
“I feel it.”
“Let’s go home. To make sure I’m the only one seeing you this hot.” He grabbed the leash from her hand and untangled it. “Bye guys.” He yelled before he took her with him.

The fresh air hit him when they were outside the bar. Without hesitation he took her in a tight hug and kissed her cheek.
She could smell beer and a breeze of whiskey. But not that much.
“Do you have room for one more guest?”
She pushed her hands under his shirt and pinched his back. “Of course.”

Together they made their way home. Walking in a comfortable silence and with holding hands. Neither of them able to break it. It’s nearly 1 o clock when they arrived at the apartment complex.
Before she could reach for the door handle he pulled her in his arms. Taking a deep breath of her scent. Again. Her scent was his favourite smell

He doesn’t know how to start this conversation and she could feel it.
So she started: “I missed you too. And I’m happy that you asked me to pick you up.”
Inside his chest his heart was beating fast. “We should go home and talk about us.” He simply said and hoped it wouldn’t offend her.
“You’re not that drunk as I assumed.”
“I had two beers and maybe some shots. But yeah I am almost sober.”
“Why?”
“Doesn’t felt right.”
She made an irritated face. “How’s so?”

When she opened the door to her apartment the dog started running towards her bedroom. Knowing she never yelled at him for taking his favourite spot on the bed.
“You shouldn’t let him sleep on your bed.”
“I’m good with it.” She simply stated. “You know all the bomb sniffing dogs sleep at my bed. So I’m used to it.”
He scanned her face and didn’t respond. She never talked a lot about her work.
“So you wanna talk?” She made her way towards the kitchen and got herself some water and a light beer for him.

Dominic sat down on the big and fluffy couch when she came back and crawled next to him. Laying her legs over his and her back against the pillows. He started stroking her legs and pushing upwards before reaching for the bottle.
“Your friends are annoying.” She sighed. “I understand them but it’s still annoying.”
“Yeah. I know.”
“Listen handsome. I admire your body, I like your personality, I love to spend time with you. I…”
Before she could finish her sentence Dominic grabbed her hips and pushed her towards him. He placed a kiss on her lips without another thought. A shy little kiss. He paused and pulled a little back. Watched her face and waited.
