Akechi sat at a booth within Leblanc, his coffee to the side to make room for the chessboard between himself and the barista, Akira Kurusu. Kurusu… his friend, his rival, his equal . Someone that made him constantly wish to be better. The need to one up him is constant and ever growing as he watches Kurusu move the pieces across the board. He was learning fast, getting better with each game. That natural talent… it was anger inducing, who was he to believe that he was better than Goro Akechi , Detective Prince? He could feel the envy a̶n̶d̶ ̶p̶r̶i̶d̶e̶ swelling, but he suppressed it. He kept the smile light which was… easy enough to fake a̶n̶d̶ ̶c̶e̶r̶t̶a̶i̶n̶l̶y̶ ̶w̶a̶s̶n̶'̶t̶ ̶r̶e̶a̶l̶,̶ ̶h̶e̶ ̶h̶a̶t̶e̶d̶ ̶h̶i̶m̶ ̶h̶e̶ ̶h̶a̶t̶e̶d̶ ̶h̶i̶m̶ ̶h̶e̶ ̶h̶a̶t̶e̶-̶ he blinked as Kurusu spoke. “Checkmate.”
He looked down at the board, and smiled. “Ah, so it is. Congratulations, Kurusu. You’ve gotten better since the first time we played.”
“It helps that I have such a good teacher.”
Akechi laughed, resetting the board. He looked over at Kurusu as Akechi took a sip of his coffee. He swallowed, eyes resting on the other’s mouth. He finished his coffee, pushing it off to the side so it wouldn’t be in his way. “You said you had something important going on tomorrow, correct?”
Kurusu nodded, moving his first pawn. “Helping Haru with some stuff. She wanted to rearrange her room. Gonna be working these muscles, I’ll be sore all over.” He winked cheekily.
Akechi hated the way his face flushed a bit, rolling his eyes as he moved his own pawn. He refused to lose this game, Kurusu’s teasing be damned. “Well, good luck tomorrow. Try not to hurt yourself.”
“Aww, don’t want my pretty face getting hurt?”
“No, I’d rather do that myself.”
“Ouch.” Kurusu laughed though, and Akechi couldn’t help but let his lips quirk upwards in a smile.
As the two played, Akechi continued to occasionally glance at Ren, taking his eyes off the board. The other had already managed to take a handful of pawns, a rook, and a bishop. Akechi on the other hand had taken his own small group of pawns, and both knights. He knew Kurusu was letting him take them on purpose, but he couldn’t help but be curious as to what the other was planning. Though, maybe he’d throw in a trick of his own. “Win this game and I’ll kiss you.”
The moment the words left his lips, he knew it was a mistake, but the unmistakable flush of Kurusu’s skin, the quiet noise he made, the way his hand shook as he moved his queen. It was certainly worth it. “Trying to distract me, Detective?”
“Is it working? It certainly seems to be.”
“With a reward like that? Of course I’m feeling the pressure. Who wouldn’t want a kiss from the ever so gracious Detective Prince of Gotham?” Kurusu grinned back like an idiot.
Akechi rolled his eyes, continuing to play the game… before he realized he was in checkmate with a final move of Kurusu’s bishop. His eyes went wide, and he flushed as he heard the other’s words. “So, can I get that kiss now Detective?”
Akechi grumbled, but leaned over to give Kurusu a peck on the cheek. “Aww, is that all? I thought you were going to-”
With a growl, Akechi grabbed him by the collar and pulled him across the booth, lips crashing with the others aggressively. He kept A̶k̶i̶r̶a̶ Kurusu close, smashing his lips against the other. He was rough, extremely rough with the kiss. He knew both would end up bruising, perhaps even bleeding, but he didn’t care. He needed this. He kept kissing, refusing to give the other air, biting against his lips as he heard Akira whining against his kiss. He broke apart for a moment, taking a breath before diving back into the other’s lips. After a moment he drew away again, taking in Akira’s panting, flushed form and grinned like a predator before it would inevitably eat its prey. He brought his mouth to Akira’s jaw, biting and sucking on it, revelling in the noises he heard the other making. Slowly, he trailed his mouth down to his neck, sucking and biting all the while until he stopped at the collar bone, biting down hard. Hard enough to draw blood from the other that he licked away with a possessive growl. He drew back, then as if a switch flipped, he smiled at the other and picked up his briefcase.
“The coffee was lovely as always, Kurusu. Good luck tomorrow.” He left the cafe, not giving the other man a chance to try to come after him as he left. The entire walk to the train he berated himself while listening to the voices in his head bicker, Loki and Robin Hood.
“My little fletchling, how bold of you!” Robin said, filled with joy.
“What a fucking dumbass, you know you’ll need to kill him. You’re such a fool.” Loki sneered, though he could feel joy radiating from him as well.
“Can you both shut up? I don’t need you two reminding me that just happened.” He couldn’t help the blush that rose on his face, opting to cover it the entire way home.
