Viktor was five when the Talis family took him in.
Jayce was fourteen.
Just old enough to notice the way Viktor clung to him, too young to know what that would come to mean.Even then, Viktor watched him like he was something sacred.
And Jayce, for reasons he never named, never looked away.Jayce left for college, and the years pulled them apart. Their father's death pulled them further.
Viktor grows into himself. Quiet, razor-bright, beautiful, difficult to touch yet sweet, all rolled into one.
By the time Jayce returns at twenty-six-- completely burned out and untethered, Viktor is seventeen and no longer a boy.They were never that close. Not really-- which is what Jayce keeps telling himself every time he catches himself staring a little too long at his younger brother's forearms, legs, neck, eyes, mouth...
But they shared a home, a name, a childhood built on glances and silences that stretched too long. And now, something else lives in the quiet between them.
