Work Text:
He stood there, with all his plans being so close to completion. He made a promise to end the Honkai, and had been working for it for 50,000 years.
Of the plans to SAVE:
Embers just led to even more Honkai, it’s as powerful as you. You don’t oversmart it.
Valuka was a failure mostly, Su didn’t find anything useful enough to completely save Earth.
ARK? Griseo left Earth to find new hope somewhere else but, there was none to be found. Who knows what happened to her.
Regardless, only 1 option remained. STIGMA. No one wanted that. MEI and Su knew this, they planned for all of this beforehand. Su threw him into the Sea of Quanta just to stop this from happening. But if all else is not working, something has to be done.
He was ready for this, he was going to put humanity in a dream world. The dream would be a perfect wonder for everyone inside where they will live a perfect life, but alongside that, humanity would be turned to something much better. A thing that could finally overcome the Honkai through Stigmata. And he would bear the rest of the burden. Because he was the hero.
The plan had changed a lot from earlier versions, but this was perfect now. Yes a lot would be lost but it was needed. This was amazing.
That’s what he thought.
50,000 years of waiting had had an effect on him. He really wasn’t the same as back then. Such an idea looks perfect to him but, it wouldn’t back then.
He was an emotionless beast now but he still had memories. He pondered on his past.
50,000 years ago, he was there in a park playing basketball. He was just 14 and his grades were, mediocre at best. But the fun he had beat anything. This day, the person he was playing with was a girl from another class. He never asked for her name but, he will always remember her. Something about her, how pretty she was. That stood out to him.
He won that game but the thought of her kept him up the entire night.
Why was she special? Did he get a crush on someone again? Doesn’t feel like it.
But just, he was amazed at her beauty. He was just an ordinary boy really. Wouldn’t it be nice to be like her? Like, that pretty?
Then he got a crush on MEI. To say he was in love would be an understatement. He was head over heels for her. Her personality, her looks, her voice. It was amazing. He remembers her vividly because of how much he loved her. But alongside this, he had another feeling that he never told anyone. He kinda wanted to be her.
Why was he thinking this? That’s such a strange thought. No one ever thinks that obviously. He was a boy and he was gonna stay that way, no?
But the thought remained. He thought of that one girl again. Imagine him having such long hair and a not as deep voice, it would be really nice.
These were the qualities he was attracted to in MEI, why can’t he have them for himself? Intrusive thoughts were weird. He’d had awful ones but, being a girl was a new level of weird.
As his days went by, humanity’s state got bleaker and bleaker. He was now the warrior that fought against the Honkai. Honkai was ruining everyone, he was a hero. He would emerge victorious for sure. He was the best soldier of all the MOTHs. He had fought a couple of Herrschers by now, but this encounter would be unforgettable for him. Somewhere, a timid little girl got the Authority of Death. And she wreaked havoc. He had her stopped and was ready to end her for once and for all. But in her eyes, he saw something. A bit of hope. Even though she was a Herrscher, she was still a little girl at the core. If she wasn’t one, she would have a normal life. What if, he was also like that? What if, he wasn’t a hero but a girl too? Wait. Shouldn’t he think about being a normal boy? No, that didn’t feel right. The more he thought about an ideal life, the more he had thoughts about being a girl. Was this a sign? Or was he just really weird.
Then he had to snap back to reality, the girl was only spreading more and more terror. He had to stop caring about what she “could be”, but more on what she is. She is a Herrscher, she must be killed.
So he did.
And he was a hero and a man, not anything else.
He had to act like that.
After the MANTIS surgery, he was even more emotionless than ever. He couldn't care less about most things besides his mission, he was numb to it. And now, he was unable to even feel the embrace of his lover. He had to focus on his mission, nothing else. These meaningless worries will only bring him down.
But.
The thoughts didn’t stop.
He still wanted to be a girl.
He watched as the efforts of the 13 flame chasers crumbled under the might of the Final Herrscher. He wasn’t enough to save humanity, or even his beloved MEI.
He failed. But he can’t fail. He’s a man who never fails.
He will succeed.
And that brings him back to now, he can finally complete it. But something still stops him from his ultimate plan for success.
Humanity doesn’t want to accept his perfect plan. The humanity of today, led by the 3 Valkyries, is working to stop him.
Bronya, Mei and most notable for him, Kiana Kaslana.
Kiana was among his descendants. She was determined and she would be the one going against him. The girl had many impressive wins in the past, showcasing her Kaslana spirit. In many ways, she was like him. If anyone from this era would be a hero, it would be her.
He was emotionless but not stupid. He knew his opponent was not one to be underestimated. But his plans were perfect. So he was not going to give up. He will succeed.
But.
He feels one thing looking at her. It wasn’t fear, he was too numb for that. It wasn’t dread. But envy.
She was everything he could ever wish to be. He was an unhuman demon now. But she was still here with a smile on her face. Because she did something he never did. She fought for all that was beautiful.
And, most importantly to him.
She was a girl. She had beautiful long hair, a pretty voice and a body he dreamed of all those years ago. When he met that one girl in the park, this was who he thought of. When thinking of himself with MEI, this was what he wanted to be to her. When defeating the Herrscher with the power of Death with her, this was the ideal life he thought of. But he silenced it all. Because he was a man.
What if he hadn’t done that? What if he accepted it? What if he became what Kiana is?
Kiana was ready to fight him as a representative of humanity’s wish for beauty. He looked at her as emotionless as ever.
He wanted to be her. He could have been her-
No. No he couldn’t
He was a man, he was Kevin.
He will fight her, and die as Kevin.
